Typhonium bicolor and T. culaochamense are described as new species endemic to Central Vietnam. They have bicolored staminodes (apex and base of different colors) which are formerly reported for six species, namely T. bachmaense, T. blumei, T. filiforme, T. flagelliforme, T. kbangense and T. ramosum. The first species is characterized by its oblong-elliptic and thick leaflets, yellowish and elliptic flattened anthers with lateral dehiscence, pink 6–7 mm long staminodes with a pale purple verrucose surface and a bright yellow and obtuse or truncate apex, oblanceolate ovaries and stipitate spadix appendix, and the second by its elongate and cylindrical tuber, variable leaf blades, longer spathe tube, basically externally green-brownish spathe limb, 3–5 rows of pistils, apically brownish dotted ovaries, disciform stigmas and recurved staminodes with a yellow apex. The ecology, distribution and assessment of conservation status of the two new taxa as well as a key to all known Typhonium species in Vietnam are provided.

Euonymus echinatus (Celastraceae), collected from Quang Ninh Province of northern Vietnam, is reported here as a new species record for the flora of Vietnam. The species belongs to Echinococcus section with unusual for the genus character—prickles capsules. Taxonomic notes, descriptions, photographs are provided, together with short notes on the distribution, ecology and phenology of Euonymus echinatus. The data on species diversity of Euonymus in Vietnam are summarized and an identification key is compiled (21 species).

Amoenoboletus brachysporus is described as a new species from Southern China. Morphologically, it is closely related to A. granulopunctatus and A. mcrobbii, but distinguished by its relatively larger basidiomata with the pileus covered with conspicuous greyish yellow to yellowish brown patches or coarse fibrillose squamules, longer and broader stipes densely covered with dark red, appressed squamules, and obviously shorter basidiospores (7–9 × 5–6.3 μm). Phylogenetically, newly generated sequences from the new species form a distinct clade within the genus Amoenoboletus. Detailed morphological descriptions, colour photographs of the new species and comparisons with closely related taxa are presented.

During studies of Piperaceae in Northeastern Brazil, we found names lacking designated type material, among them Piper consanguineum. We revised the synonyms, protologues and bibliographies where names have been cited. A neotype has been designated for Piper consanguineum (Kunth) Steud., as well as a lectotype for Piper surinamense C. DC., which also had a syntype excluded from its name.

The name Cistanche tubulosa s.l. is used from Africa and the Middle East to South and Central Asia and China, however this name is applied to plants that have been shown to comprise a polyphyletic group. Maintaining the use of this species name across distinct lineages is untenable, but inclusion of a type specimen in further analyses is needed to correctly apply names to revised taxa and to evaluate the recent decision to place the name in synonymy under the name C. tinctoria (Forssk.) Beck. Therefore, we proposed a neotype for Cistanche tubulosa (Schenk) Wight ex Hook.f. We contextualise the relevant taxonomy with a broader discussion on taxonomic challenges in the genus Cistanche in which several species are traded for herbal medicine, rare, or are of conservation concern.

Field investigations and specimen examination revealed no obvious morphological differences among Brandisia chevalieri Bonati, B. discolor J.D.Hooker & Thomson, and B. scandens Bonati. This observation, coupled with previously established phylogenetic evidence, confirms B. chevalieri and B. scandens as synonyms of B. discolor. The issue concerning the type designation of B. discolor has been sorted out and clarified. A key to the species of Brandisia is also provided.

Pestalotiopsis phyllostachydis sp. nov. is introduced during a study of the diversity of bambusicolous fungi in Guangdong Province, China. The new species exhibits similar conidial morphology, pigmentation, and dimensions to its relatives; however, it can be distinguished by the length of its apical and basal appendages. The identification is corroborated by a phylogenetic analysis incorporating combined ITS, tef1-α and tub2 sequence data. A refined description and illustration of P. phyllostachydis are provided, accompanied by a morphological comparison of this new taxon and its closely related taxa compiled in a table. In addition, the common morphological characteristics utilized for interspecific identification are discussed incidentally.

Eremogone bingolense is described a new species from Bingöl province (Türkiye). The new species is related to E. cucubaloides and E. dianthoides, but it differs from E. cucubaloides by the glabrous stem, sheat and pedicel lengths, length of glabrous sepals, and petals shape and size (about 2 times longer than the sepals). E. bingolense differs from E. dianthoides by inflorescence shape and number of flowers, sheath, pedicel and sepal lengths. Ecological data and conservation status of the new species are also presented. A distribution map of the new taxon and related species is provided.

Caperonia (Acalyphoideae, Euphorbiaceae) is a monophyletic genus with 36 species naturally distributed in Latin America, Africa, and Madagascar. Its greatest diversity occurs in South America, where 28 species are found. Caperonia species are herbs or subshrubs that occur exclusively in open marshy environments. Here, we describe Caperonia itapevae, a new endangered species known from a single record from South Brazil, based on extensive morphological study and phylogenetic data.
