Based on the study of protologues, herbarium specimens, and fieldwork, the authors found that Machilus velutinoides and M. platycarpus are conspecific. According to the rule of Article 11.4 of the International Code of Nomenclature for Algae, Fungi, and Plants (Shenzhen Code), the authors place the former as a synonym of the latter. A table comparing M. platycarpus, M. velutinoides, and M. velutinus is also provided.

The genus Diplazium in Thailand is revised. Thirty-one species are recognized, of which D. thailandicum is new to science, and two species, D. bellum and D. pallidum are new to Thailand. These species are described and illustrated. The lectotypes of D. dilatatum, D. leptophyllum, D. petolotii and D. petrii are designated here. A key to the species, descriptions, line drawings, and ecological and distributional information are provided.

Genista anglica L. (Fabaceae) is a Western European plant, widespread from Northern Morocco to Southern Sweden, with two geographically isolated populations in Calabria (Italy). Based on morphological characters, some authors considered the southern Italian populations as two different species: Genista silana and Genista brutia. Recent phylogeographical studies reveal that the G. silana and G. brutia populations share genetic similarities with some populations of the widespread G. anglica from Northwestern of Iberian Peninsula, despite a distance of approximately 2000 km. Previously, other authors suggested anthropogenic introduction of these plants in the South of Italy, but this hypothesis has not been thoroughly investigated. To unravel the uncertain origin of the isolated Italian populations, we conducted a more detailed study about the genetic relationships between southern Italian populations and Northwestern of Iberian Peninsula populations of G. anglica s.l., using plastid DNA sequences. Our results show identical and similar haplotypes in some of the populations of the Northwestern of Iberian Peninsula and the Italian populations, which supports the hypothesis of a recent anthropogenic introduction.

Four species of Agaricus (Agaricaceae, Basidiomycota) belonging to the A. sect. Xanthodermatei of A. subg. Pseudochitonia, viz. Agaricus punjabensis, A. endoxanthus, A. melanocarpus, and A. xanthodermulus, are described from West Bengal, India, based on morphological and molecular sequences (nrDNA ITS and LSU rDNA) data. Comprehensive descriptions, field photographs of the specimens, and comparisons with morphologically similar and phylogenetically related taxa are provided. Among the four taxa, Agaricus punjabensis, A. melanocarpus, and A. xanthodermulus represent their first records for India, and Agaricus endoxanthus is newly reported for the state of West Bengal.

A new species, Mallomonas rimosa sp. nov., is described from Vietnam based on silica-scale morphology observed using scanning and transmission electron microscopy. Mallomonas rimosa belongs to section Torquatae and is most similar to M. eoa, M. prora, M. serrata, M. scrobiculata, M. pumilio var. dispersa, M. caverna, and M. lanalhuensis. The main distinctive features of scales of the newly described species are the shield ornamentation with small, circular, and evenly spaced pits and the single row of papillae on each side of the anterior flange. Mallomonas rimosa was found in water bodies with acidic conditions, low mineralization, and high temperature.

The British botanist Nicholas Edward Brown (1849–1934) who worked in the Herbarium of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, from 1873 until well beyond his retirement, had a special interest in succulent plants, predominantly, but not exclusively, the Aizoaceae, the vygie family. He also described 12 species of Kalanchoe (Crassulaceae subfam. Kalanchooideae) as new, and published one new combination in the genus for a species that he had earlier placed in Cotyledon. The nomenclature and taxonomy of the names published in Kalanchoe by Brown is reviewed and discussed in a historical context. Where necessary, the names are typified.

We here provide a taxonomic and nomenclatural update of the Prodromus of the Bolivian fern flora published between 2017 and 2019. We describe one new species (Elaphoglossum neglectum F.B.Matos & R.C.Moran), provide four new combinations (Argyrochosma flavens (Sw.) A.R.Sm. & M.Kessler, Ceradenia werffii (L.E.Bishop) A.R.Sm. & M.Kessler, Enterosora dudleyi (L.E.Bishop) A.R.Sm. & M.Kessler, Phlegmariurus aristei (Nessel) B.Øllg.), report 13 new species records for Bolivia, delete 4 species from the Bolivian list, and update the names of 17 species previously known from Bolivia. With these new records and species, the number of fern and lycophyte species known from Bolivia increases by 10 to 1210.

For a while, two species were known—Aronia mitschurinii [known also under the names Aronia melanocarpa auctt., Aronia ×prunifolia auctt., and Aronia ×prunifolia ‘Floribunda’ sensu Cinovskis] and ×Sorbaronia fallax. Discoveries over the past 20 years led to the inclusion of A. mitschurinii in the genus ×Sorbaronia as ×S. mitschurinii in 2013, still recognizing it as a separate species. Since ×S. mitschurinii is a backcross between true Aronia melanocarpa and ×S. fallax, in 2021, the name ×S. mitschurinii was synonymized with ×S. fallax to follow the provisions of the International Code of Nomenclature for algae, fungi, and plants (Shenzhen Code). Unfortunately, ×Sorbaronia fallax s. str. and ×S. mitschurinii s. str. are morphologically very different taxa. Furthermore, ×S. mitschurinii s. str. is the first artificially created species that has for some time already become invasive in Europe. In order to ensure practical needs in horticulture and nature conservation, where both of these taxa have been separated as two different species for a long time, this paper makes a nomenclatural act to raise ×S. mitschurinii from synonyms to nothosubspecies status—×Sorbaronia fallax nothosubsp. mitschurinii nothosubsp. nov. The new taxonomic approach will make it possible to distinguish two morphologically different taxa in the future, henceforth invasive plants will respectively be called ×Sorbaronia fallax nothosubsp. mitschurinii and those cultivated only in gardens will be called ×Sorbaronia fallax nothosubsp. fallax. The name Aronia ×prunifolia ‘Floribunda’ sensu Cinovskis used by Latvian authors is nothing more than ×Sorbaronia fallax nothosubsp. mitschurinii.
