Bose-Einstein correlations of identical charged-pion pairs produced in hadronic Z decays are analyzed in terms of various parametrizations. A good description is achieved using Levy stable distributions. The source function is reconstructed with the help of the τ model.

As in previous analyses at √s NN =200 GeV., correlations in azimuthal angles between inclusive charge particles at intermediate transverse momentum (p T=1.0−4.0) GeV are studied at √s NN =62.4 GeV. The di-jet correlations reveal similar modification as in 200 GeV. Specifically large modification, including the “volcano” or “cone” structure, persists in the awayside correlation.

We present a new plot for representing R AA(o) data that emphasizes the strong correlation between high-p η suppression and its elliptic anisotropy. We demonstrate that existing models cannot reproduce the centrality dependence of this correlation. Modification of a geometric energy loss model to include thermal absorption and stimulated emission can match the trend of the data, but requires dN g/dy values inconsistent with the observed multiplicity. By including a small, outward-normal directed surface impulse opposing energy loss, (Delta p_ bot hat n), one can account for the centrality dependence of the observed Au+Au elliptic quench pattern. We also present predictions for Cu+Cu reactions.

We present an analytic model of jet quenching, based on the (D)GLV energy loss formalism, to describe the system size dependence of QGP-induced parton absorption in relativistic heavy ion collisions. Numerical simulations of the transverse momentum dependence of jet quenching are given for central Au+Au and Cu+Cu reactions. Low p Tdijet correlations are shown to be sensitive to the reappearance of the lost energy as soft hadrons. At high p Twe find that the attenuation of dihadrons is similar to that of single inclusive particles. Comparison to recent data from PHENIX and STAR is given as a test of the jet quenching theory.

The PHOBOS Collaboration has measured transverse momentum distributions of charged hadrons produced in Cu+Cu collisions at √sNN=200 and 62.4 GeV. The nuclear modification factor RAANpart is calculated relative to p+p data at both collision energies as a function of collision centrality. For the same number of participating nucleons, RAANpart is essentially the same in both systems over the full range of pTthat is measured. In addition, we observe that within experimental uncertainties, the ratio of 200 GeV to 62.4 GeV Cu+Cu yields has only a moderate centrality dependence and is consistent with the value previously measured in Au+Au collisions for a broad range of pT.

Taking into account pseudoscalar as well as scalar condensates, we reexamine the chiral restoration path on the chiral manifold. We shall see both condensates coherently produce a density wave at a certain density, which delays chiral restoration as density or temperature is increased.

We calculate and resum the nuclear enhanced power corrections from the final state partonic scattering in nuclear matter to open charm production and correlations. In p+A reactions, we find that single and double inclusive D mesons can be suppressed as much as the neutral pions from the dynamical high twist shadowing. Effects of initial state energy loss in p+A collisions are also investigated and may lead to significantly weaker transverse momentum dependence of the nuclear suppression.

Modifications of jet properties resulting from the coupling of jets to the strongly interacting matter produced in RHIC collisions are of great current interest. In recent work, the PHENIX collaboration has applied a novel technique to the analysis of two-particle azimuthal correlations which extinguishes the harmonic part of the underlying event revealing the true jet shape. Recent extensions of the method to three-particle correlations allow for a more revealing study of jet topologies in Au+Au collisions at (√s NN=200 GeV).
