Residential Sector is among the major consumers of energy especially considering the power sector. The constantly growing energy demand of this sector can be achieved under two scenarios. Either we have to increase the resource supply, or we start producing comparatively more efficient devices. This study assesses the energy savings obtained through technological advancements in residential sector of Pakistan through utilization of Solar Fans. Long Range Energy Alternative Planning (LEAP) model is used to forecast the energy outlook of this sector in 2040 under different scenarios. A complete feasibility study has been performed depicting both the energy savings and economic considerations. Results obtained from the model depicts that Solar fans can attain a penetration level of 30% by 2040. This will consequently result in energy savings of about 5000 GWh even after regular growth in consumption of residential sector due to demand drivers.

Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS) is one the major reason of increasing mortality rate. Despite medical advances, there isn’t any efficient method that can control this proliferating mortality rate. The major aim of this study is detection of ACS using Pulse Plethysmograph (PuPG) signal analysis. 348 samples of PuPG signal were acquired by fastening PuPG sensor to subject’s index finger. Signal data is preprocessed through Empirical Mode Decomposition (EMD) to remove any possible noise and other artifacts. Extensive experimental analysis was performed to select features having maximum intraclass distance and discriminative power to classify ACS and Normal signals through Support Vector Machines (SVM) classifier. 5-fold cross validation was used to perform training and testing of proposed model using self-collected dataset of PuPG signals. Average accuracy of 99.42%, sensitivity of 99.43% and specificity of 99.41% is obtained through SVM with cubic kernel proving proposed model as a best possible methodology in-terms of cost and efficiency as compared to existing solutions.

Balcohistan lies in the southern part of Pakistan with abundance of renewable energy prospects. The region consists huge potential for solar and wind energy. Many renewable projects have been planned for this region although the rural aspect of population distribution develops transmission and distribution issues. To cater such problems, microgrids are proposed for Balochistan. Since CPEC and other projects are planned for this region, the demand is further expected to grow. The self-sufficient system proposed in this system analysis the solar potential of these regions, the impact on the environment and as well communication protocols. Communication is important since virtual power plants and smart grid implementation would require microgrids to interact with each other in any efficient way. The paper analyzes the potential technical proficiency for this communication protocol. The test case has been discussed for the cities of Jiwani and Gwadar, where distances and bandwidth for selection of best protocol can be implemented in the near future.

This work presents development of custom made humanoid robot that can be used for educational and assistive applications using Robot Operating System (ROS) platform. This robot is capable of localizing itself within working vicinity and can perform different tasks such as teaching demonstration, human interaction and grasping of an object using ROS Moveit package. The development cost of the system is comparatively cheaper than the available standard international products and real scenario performance results of the system have been found satisfactory.

Traditional air conditioners are designed to maintain the indoor temperature and humidity at a desired level. They were not designed to monitor room occupants comfort and because of controlling the indoor air temperature they consume extra energy. The purpose of this project was to improve building occupants’ thermal comfort and optimize the energy consumption by air conditioners. This was achieved by relating building occupant blood pressure to the temperature fed by air-conditioner. From the results of this study, it was noticed an inverse relationship between the blood pressure and Temperature. The project is relevant for improving the comfort of the people subjected to air-conditioned environment and helps to optimize the energy consumption by the air conditioners

In recent years, utilization of power electronic converters has been drastically increased. These converters act like non-linear loads for utility grid. Such non-linear loads distort the supply current through injection of harmonics. One such example is the uninterruptible power supply (UPS) system, which is a major source of current harmonics. These harmonics affect the performance of distribution transformers in terms of losses, heating of core, stress on insulation and tripping of the protection relays. In this paper, the increase of total harmonic distortion (THD) of the supply current, caused by uncontrolled rectifiers used in UPS systems, has been minimized. Two methods including passive filters (PF) and active filters (AF) have been applied to minimize the THD. The simulations have been performed in MATLAB/Simulink environment where the results of both schemes have been compared under various load conditions (RL and unbalanced load). It has been found that AF provides a better solution as compared to PF for such load conditions.

Organizations are generating diverse data regarding their promotion. Finding the right product competitors and their promotions on different social platforms in a target region are difficult and time-consuming. Hence, a social media analysis and reporting system is required that can provide a business intelligence solution to keep an eye on your competing business organizations and give benefit from their marketing strategies in a proactive manner. The system enables us to find a potential list of competitors based on the product and collect their data from different social media websites (Facebook, Twitter, Google+). The aim of this system is to perform an analysis on the data collected via all the sources; report it directly, perform sentimental analysis of the posts and then classify the posts into three main categories i.e. Marketing, Customer attention and Sales and Promotion through supervised machine learning. The results obtained after the classification are represented and visualized on the advanced dashboard. The purpose of this system is to provide aid in the decision making of our client. The significance of this system is that it will cause an improvement for organizations in a state of competition, it would unleash new innovative ideas keeping in view the latest market trends which would cause prevention of releasing unnecessary or outdated products and a foresight of coming up with better and improved ideas for marketing.

Innovation and creativity have played an important role in the development of every field of life, relatively less but it has created several problems too. Intrusion detection is one of those problems which became difficult with the advancement in computer networks, multiple researchers with multiple techniques have come forward to solve this crucial issue, but network security is still a challenge. In our research, we have come across an idea to detect intrusion using a deep learning algorithm in combination with statistical data analysis of KDD cup 99 datasets. Firstly, we have applied statistical analysis on the given data set to generate a simplified form of data, so that a less complex binary classification model of artificial neural network could apply for data classification. Our system has decreased the complexity of the system and has improved the response time.
