: One of the most challenging issues concerning to the pyrolysis of liquid smoke coconut shell is the presence of tar. The acidity, water content, density and content analysis of liquid smoke using coconut shell which produced at 500 o C using pyrolysis reactor equipped with a tar scrubber were compared to liquid smoke produced conventionally. Characterization of acidity of the liquid was measured by pH meter by adhering to ASTM E70, water content by using volumetric Karl Fischer titration method following ASTM E203 and ASTM D1744 method, the density by AOC 1995, and dichloromethane extracts content by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The results showed that the pH range of liquid smoke was pH 2.4 to 2.6 with the water content of 89.970 to 94.593%, and the density of 1.0118 to 1.0036 g/mL. The carbonyl and phenol content were 5.05 to 6.473% and 85.057 to 90.024% respectively. From the results can be concluded that the quality of liquid smoke produced by tar scrubber is better than the quality of liquid produced by conventional method.

Antimicrobial compound of [2-(acryloyloxy)ethyl]-trimethyl ammonium chloride (AETAC) can be bound into polymer backbones to produce various antimicrobial polymeric materials. In this work, cotton cellulose (CCell) fibres was modified in a laboratory scale reflux-reactor for 2 hours in toluene (TL) as solvent with addition of maleic anhydride (MA). TL solution of antimicrobial compound of AETAC and ammoniumpersulphate (NH4)2S2O8) as initiator was added dropwise and the reflux was further continued for 2 hours. The reaction mixture with optimum weight ratio (CCell/MA/AETAC: 100/20/20) was then cooled down, filtered and wash thoroughly using distilled water and dried in oven vacum to constant weight at 80C. The AETAC/MA-modified Cellulose (AETAC/MA-g-CCell) was then characterised using infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) for chemical structure identification of the reaction products. Antimicrobial properties of the modified cellulose was tested using: Aspergillus niger and Staphylococcus aureus. Results of FTIR spectra of the AETAC/MA-g-CCell after exhaustive Soxhlet extraction in toluene still showed stable absorption peak of AETAC/MA carbonyl group (>C=O) at 1736 cm and dissapearance of bond absorption peak of acryloyl group (>C=C<) at 1470 cm. The AETAC/MA-modified cotton cellulose showed marginal antimicrobial activity against Aspergillus niger, however the modified cellulose showed excellent antimicrobial activity against Staphylococcus aureus.

: This paper introduces sustainable supply chains in the manufacturing industry, which include environmental, social and financial aspects and several variables that influence them. This paper contains a review of several studies on sustainable supply chains that have been carried out previously from 2005 to 2018. This paper begins with an introduction to sustainable supply chains and exposure to problems underlying the ongoing supply chain. Then the methodology and steps are explained. This paper objective is to afford a simple review of sustainable supply chain management (SSCM). The manufacturing industry is always related to chemical processes at the stages of the production process. This also always influences the environment. That is why the sustainable topic becomes an important thing to study and to find the solutions. In addition, conclusions and suggestions can be given to the supply chain of the manufacturing industry in the future.

: Bacterial cellulose is an interesting polymer material for using as a wound dressing. Bacterial cellulose has an excellent physical and chemical properties such as high biocompatibility, microporosity, transparant, non-toxic, and also it provides moist environment that made this polymer ideal for wound dressing. However, bacterial cellulose itself has no antimicrobial activity to prevent wound infection. To achieve antimicrobial activity, turmeric extract (TE) were impregnated into bacterial cellulose by immersing bacterial cellulose (BC) in turmeric extract solution to produce BC-TE nanocomposite. A scanning electron microscope (SEM) was used to examine the surface morphology of BC and BC–TE nanocomposite. Antimicrobial tests in vitro indicated that BC–TE nanocomposite showed excellent antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus , and Escherichia coli with the inhibition zone of 12.45 mm and 10 mm, respectively
