QUANTITATIVE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN PHYSICAL ACTIVITY AND ANTIHYPERTENSIVES IN ELDERLY WOMEN 老年妇女体力活动与抗高血压的定量关系

ABSTRACT Introduction: Physical activity is an important tool to manage systemic arterial hypertension. However, less is known about the relationship of physical activity with the number of antihypertensive drugs used by older adults. Objective: The aim of this study was to compare the number of antihypertensive drugs used by older female adults (aged ≥ 60 years) with a low level of physical activity with the number used by those with a high level of physical activity, and to verify how many participants used more than two antihypertensive drugs. Methods: Twenty-eight physically active older women with systemic arterial hypertension who participated in a physical activity program for community-dwelling older female adults were divided into two groups: participants who presented lower habitual physical activity levels were placed in group 1 and participants that presented higher habitual physical activity levels were placed in group 2, according to the Baecke questionnaire. In addition, the number of antihypertensive drugs used by participants was collected. Results: The number of prescribed antihypertensive drugs was 2.0 (median) for both groups investigated. There was no significant difference between groups regarding the number of antihypertensive tablets prescribed (p>0.05). Although there was no statistical difference, a higher proportion of participants from the lower physical activity group used more than two antihypertensive drugs. Conclusion: The level of habitual physical activity did not affect the number of antihypertensive tablets used by hypertensive elderly women. SEDENTARY BEHAVIOR AMONG MEDICAL STUDENTS: REPERCUSSIONS OF THE CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC 医学生的久坐行为:冠状病毒大流行的影响

ABSTRACT Introduction: In order to face COVID-19, social restriction measures were adopted that influenced the population's living habits, increasing sedentary lifestyle. Considering the high complexity and dedication required by the Medicine course, it becomes relevant to investigate the effect of the pandemic on the practice of physical exercise and sedentary behavior of these students. Objective: Identify changes in physical activity and sedentary behavior self-reported by medical students in the city of Salvador, Bahia, before and during the self-confinement imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: Longitudinal, prospective, quantitative study carried out with regularly enrolled medical students over 18 years of age. A virtual, structured, anonymous, self-completed questionnaire was applied, containing sociodemographic and academic aspects. In addition, the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) was applied in its short version, considering the period before and during the pandemic. Through this, the level of physical activity, sedentary behavior and time spent walking and performing moderate and vigorous activities were measured. Results: 268 medical students were included, predominantly women (65.7%), white (50.0%) and mixed race (38.8%), aged 24.2 ± 5.5 years, single (90.7%), attending the clinical cycle (59.0%), in private institutions (78.4%). No statistically significant differences were identified in the level of physical activity and in the time spent with moderate and vigorous activities. However, there was a reduction in walking time (p<0.00001) and an increase in sedentary behavior (p=0.001) during the COVID-19 pandemic, with the greatest impact among women (p=0.0009). Conclusion: The repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic have been shown to increase the sedentary behavior of medical students, especially among women, and to reduce activity time spent with walking. Longitudinal studies are needed to analyze the medium and long-term consequences of this change in the healthy lifestyle habits of medical students. RECOVERY BETWEEN SETS IN STRENGTH TRAINING: SYSTEMATIC REVIEW AND META-ANALYSIS 力量训练组间恢复:系统回顾与元分析

ABSTRACT Introduction: The recovery interval (RI) between sets and exercises has received attention from strength training (ST) researchers, to understand the relationship of rest on performance maintenance, especially the total load in a training session. It is known that each individual responds in a specific way to the training stimulus. So, what would be the effect of the different recovery interval strategies on the strength performance? Objective: Compare the different recovery intervals in strength training volume, considering the number of repetitions in healthy adults. Methods: We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis based on methodological criteria, comparing fixed and self-selected RI on training volume, identified by the number of repetitions performed in a weight training program. Three electronic databases (Pubmed, VHL Virtual Health Library, Ebsco Sportdiscus) were analyzed, combining the expressions “resistance training”, “resistance exercise”, “strength exercise”, “recovery interval”, “rest interval”, “interval auto suggested”, “auto range selected” with “AND” and “OR” combination. Results: Pooled data from five studies showed a large significant effect in favor of the experimental group (>2 minutes) (MD: 1.24; 95%-CI [0.78; 1.71]; z: 5.25, Q:1.08; p < 0.01), since in the studies, recovery interval allowed a greater training volume. Conclusion: Longer RI seems be better, for maintaining total training volume, although there is no consensus for different training objectives against the self-selected RI. Thus, we imagine that this strategy may be important in the organizing a bodybuilding exercise program. Level of Evidence I; Systematic Review and Meta Analysis.

RESUMO Introdução: O domínio de intensidade de exercício severo pode ser definido como a faixa de taxas de trabalho ou velocidades sobre as quais o VO2max pode ser obtido. Objetivos: Nosso propósito foi determinar se a velocidade crítica (execução analógica da potência crítica) identifica o limite inferior do domínio severo e identificar o limite superior do domínio. Métodos: Vinte e cinco indivíduos realizaram cinco testes de corrida até a exaustão, cada um com duração > 2,5 min e < 16 min. A relação velocidade de dois parâmetros contra tempo até a exaustão gerou valores para a velocidade crítica e a relação velocidade de três parâmetros contra tempo para alcançar o VO2max valores gerados para a velocidade limite acima da qual o VO2max pode ser obtido. ABSTRACT Introduction: Exergames or active video games are digital platforms with functionality associated with body movement, which dialogue with improving physical activity levels, stimulating pleasure in practice and adherence to change habits, physically active behavior, and better quality of life. Objective: This study aimed to synthesize the available evidence on the contribution of exergame to Body Mass Index, physical activity level, glycemic control, blood pressure, and cardiorespiratory fitness in adolescents. Methods: This is a systematic review, reported following the PRISMA writing recommendations, without language restrictions, for articles indexed in the following databases: MEDLINE / PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, and Lilacs. Data extraction was performed analogously in a spreadsheet previously tested and standardized. The assessment of the risk of bias in the included studies was carried out by the RoB 1.0 tool in all of its domains in duplicate of reviewers. Initially, 3.039 studies were found. Results: The studies cover a total of 526 adolescents aged ten to 19. The most used platform in the studies was the Nintendo Wii, followed by the PlayStation, Xbox 360, and Dance Dance Revolution. The results indicated that interventions using exergames were effective for changing BMI, but there was no evidence on cardiovascular outcomes, with no effective changes in glycemic control and blood pressure and a significant response (p <0.05) in cardiorespiratory fitness. Conclusion: The exergame points to satisfactory results in improving health and can be incorporated as a relevant public policy in the adolescent health promotion. ABSTRACT Introduction: Physical stability is extremely important for student-athletes of martial arts, and it is believed that the practice of Pilates can generate benefits in this aspect. Objective: Analyze the influences of Pilates training on postural balance in martial arts students during daily training. Methods: Using the control experiment verification method, this study selected 60 martial arts students and athletes to perform the control experiment. They were randomly divided into the experimental group and the control group. In addition to the traditional daily martial arts training protocol, the experimental group underwent Pilates training, while the control group performed only daily training. Results: In the experimental Pilates training group, vertical balance time increased from 791.25 ± 158.48 ms to 695.64 ± 208.08 ms, and left-right laterality balance time increased from 1,861.04 ± 202.96 ms to 1,994.70 ± 189.67 ms, and anteroposterior balance time increased from 1243.24 ± 475.07 ms to 1419.52 ± 331.62 ms. The balance score increased from 53.16 ± 3.94 to 63.83 ± 3.12. Conclusion: Pilates training improved postural balance in martial arts students. SPORTS TRAINING ORIENTATION IN COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES DURING THE EPIDEMIC 疫情期间高校体育训练的定位

ABSTRACT Introduction: The epidemic has impacted the pace of teaching in colleges and universities, especially in physical education practical classes. Both online physical education and students’ spontaneous exercise are restricted by space and infrastructure, making it necessary to seek guidelines for adjusting sports training. Objective: Investigate the current status of physical exercise by college students during the epidemic period, exploring data management strategies for the guidance of actions in exercise practice by colleges and universities. Methods: An online questionnaire survey was conducted among college and university students from different regions. The online data were entered, sorted, and analyzed using the questionnaire platform in question and Excel software. Results: The college students-maintained exercise frequency between three to seven sessions per week, with an average duration of 30 to 90 minutes in each session. As for the effect of the exercises performed, after optimal training, the theoretical exercise score was 3.74 points, the exercise capacity score was 3.68 points, and the actual exercise capacity score was 2.96 points. A score of 3.89 points was obtained for self-regulation and 4.23 points for stress regulation. However, due to the limits imposed by the local infrastructure and the fact that the online teaching content is slightly adapted to the real situation, it still requires adjustments. Conclusion: Colleges and universities should strengthen sports data management, manage the situation and students’ physical needs in a timely manner, and provide targeted guidance to students’ movements. Adjustments of methods and content to online teaching should consider the actual needs of students, providing better sports support to students during the epidemic. ABSTRACT Introduction: Swimming is a sport that requires mastery of muscle groups, breathing, and cardiopulmonary strengthening, being a complete physical activity. To improve the competitive level of its athletes, making possible better results in competitions is a frequent challenge that demands training analysis and frequent adaptations. Objective: Study the effects of current physical training on the competitive performance of athletes. Methods: Twenty-four volunteer swimmers were selected and equally distributed in two groups. The experimental group performed swimming-specific physical training according to the established training plan, and the control group performed general physical training based mainly on running. There was no difference in the duration or intensity of training between the groups. The experimental period was 8 weeks, three times a week. Results: The experimental group was superior to the control group in terms of optimizing physical function, optimizing special fitness, and improving athletic levels. Conclusion: Special physical training for athletes can improve swimmers’ physical function more efficiently, improve their competitiveness and sports efficiency, and reduce sports injuries. ABSTRACT Introduction: The need for strength of the lower limbs to provide absolute speed in competitive-level swimmers requires methodological and evidence-based training. Resistance training is an effective way to increase muscle strength and it is believed that it can be adapted to benefit swimmers. Objective: Study the impacts of lower-limb resistance exercise on the sport performance of swimming athletes. Methods: Twelve volunteer athletes were selected for the experiment, randomly divided between experimental and control groups. There was no significant difference between the two groups. The experimental group received intervention with lower limb resistance training, while the control continued with routine physical training. Results: The thigh circumference of the experimental group increased from 56.01±5.40 cm to 57.14±5.06 cm; the Dive angle decreased from 44.85±6.74 to 43.23±7.71; the Entry distance increased from 3.51±0.36 m to 3.69±0.39 m; flight time was reduced from 0.33±0.05 s to 0.31±0.07 s; freestyle performance was reduced from 28.90±2.40 s to 27.18±2.72 s. Conclusion: The training with resistance exercise in the lower limbs showed evident improvements in the swimmers’ physical performance, besides the evident gain of muscle mass. ABSTRACT Introduction: The research and development of new methods of injury diagnosis and rehabilitation training in benefits to the health and training of athletes is a contemporary priority. Among modern techniques, diagnostic imaging technology stands out. Objective: Study the auxiliary effect of imaging technology in the diagnosis and rehabilitation training of functional knee joint injuries in basketball practice. Methods: 50 basketball players diagnosed and treated in the past four years for knee joint function injuries in a special hospital were selected, including 28 male and 22 female athletes, aged 17 to 25 years. PerkinElmer Spotlight-300 FTIR spectral imaging system was used to scan the articular cartilage sections, visible light and total absorption images of the samples were obtained by reflection mode imaging. Results: The peak infrared feature of the articular cartilage measured by the infrared spectrum imaging technology is very consistent with the FTIR spectrum. After rehabilitation training, the Y test score of female patients increased from 96.72 ± 6.05 to 105.40 ± 4.23, and the Y test score of male patients increased from 98.34 ± 5.33 to 105.51 ± 4.89, showing significant differences. Conclusion: Infrared spectrum imaging technology is an effective technique for identifying functional knee joint injury, and is of great use for diagnosis and training update in basketball players with knee trauma. 摘要:研究和开发新的损伤诊断和康复训练方法,有利于运动员的健康和训练,是当代的当务之急。在现代技术中,诊断成像技术尤为突出。目的:探讨影像学技术在篮球训练中膝关节功能性损伤诊断及康复训练中的辅助作用。方法:选取某专业医院近四年确诊治疗的篮球运动员膝关节功能损伤50例,其中男28例,女22例,年龄17 ~ 25岁。采用PerkinElmer Spotlight-300 FTIR光谱成像系统对关节软骨切片进行扫描,通过反射模式成像获得样品的可见光和全吸收图像。结果:红外光谱成像技术测量的关节软骨的红外峰特征与FTIR光谱非常吻合。康复训练后,女性患者Y测试得分从96.72±6.05上升至105.40±4.23,男性患者Y测试得分从98.34±5.33上升至105.51±4.89,差异均有统计学意义。结论:红外光谱成像技术是识别功能性膝关节损伤的有效技术,对篮球运动员膝关节损伤的诊断和训练更新具有重要意义。证据等级II;治疗性研究——对治疗结果的调查。

Methods: 50 basketball players diagnosed and treated in the past four years for knee joint function injuries in a special hospital were selected, including 28 male and 22 female athletes, aged 17 to 25 years. PerkinElmer Spotlight-300 FTIR spectral imaging system was used to scan the articular cartilage sections, visible light and total absorption images of the samples were obtained by reflection mode imaging. Results: The peak infrared feature of the articular cartilage measured by the infrared spectrum imaging technology is very consistent with the FTIR spectrum. After rehabilitation training, the Y test score of female patients increased from 96.72 ± 6.05 to 105.40 ± 4.23, and the Y test score of male patients increased from 98.34 ± 5.33 to 105.51 ± 4.89, showing significant differences. Conclusion: Infrared spectrum imaging technology is an effective technique for identifying functional knee joint injury, and is of great use for diagnosis and training update in basketball players with knee trauma.
