Small and medium-sized firms (SMEs) are important in enhancing the economy, driving innovation, and enhancing competitiveness. Consequently, they play a substantial role in enhancing the overall operational efficacy of enterprises. The primary objective of this study was to investigate the impact of market orientation and entrepreneurial orientation on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) operating in the Pakistani manufacturing sector. Additionally, the study sought to determine the mediating effect of innovation in the link between these orientations and SME performance. Data was collected from 381 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) operating in Pakistan using a self-administered questionnaire. Out of the total surveys collected, 360 met the criteria for conducting a detailed analysis. The study utilized a structured equation modelling technique by SMART PLS 4 to evaluate the influence of Market Orientation (MO), Entrepreneurial Orientation (EO), and Innovation (INO) on the performance of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). The findings of the study demonstrated a notable association between Market Orientation (MO), Entrepreneurial Orientation (EO), and Firm Performance (FP), wherein innovation played a crucial intermediary function within this framework. The aforementioned findings highlight the significant significance of market orientation (MO), entrepreneurial orientation (EO), and innovation orientation (INO) in the attainment of success for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). This study serves as a significant reference for both scholars and practitioners who are interested in gaining a deeper understanding of the effects of market orientation (MO), entrepreneurial orientation (EO), and innovation orientation (INO) on the performance of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Therefore, this study makes a valuable contribution to the existing body of knowledge in the field, enhancing our comprehension of the topic.

It is increasingly viewed that the support of local communities is an essential element of biodiversity conservation, and benefits from protected areas are one of the reasons for their support. It is common to make a prediction that protected areas provide benefits, and the development of tourism is a common means that supplies such benefits. Although some studies exploring the link between the benefits of tourism and support for conservation have been done recently, their results still need to be argued more. This study, therefore, aimed to examine the ecotourism perception of local communities and the influence of ecotourism benefits on local people’s support for the conservation of Xuan Son National Park, Phu Tho Province, Vietnam. Xuan Son National Park is also a tourism destination, that is not far from Hanoi capital, where eco-tourism is increasingly popular and local attitudes toward conservation and protected area tourism have not been researched. This research was based on a primary survey and secondary data collection. There were two methods that were applied for primary-data collection, and they were household surveys and observations. The results revealed positive attitudes toward tourism and conservation (67.8%), and it is also recognized that the park is essential for local tourism (91%). There was a significant difference between those dependent upon tourism and those not, and those dependent upon tourism were likely to have positive attitudes (t19.348 = -2.425, p<0.05). Overall, this study revealed that benefits from eco-tourism have positive impacts on conservation attitudes.

These days, using solar and wind energy resources is much more cost-effective and appealing. The rapid depletion and growing expense of non-renewable energy supplies resulted in the development of alternative energy sources that utilize renewable energy sources. In recent times, hybrid renewable energy algorithms have often been connected to wind and solar power systems. The primary objective of this work (PWBHPS) is to determine the power dispatch capacity of a PV-wind-battery hybrid power system. In the modern electric power market, the PWBHPS's power dispatch capacity needs to be explicitly specified at the beginning of every dispatching time interval in order to collaborate with the transmission system operator (TSO). Energy storage is a workable option for efficiently integrating renewable energy sources into the system. A recently developed storage device called the vanadium redox flow battery (VRFB) may have certain advantages in large-scale grid-connected applications. State-of-charge monitoring provides extra insights into battery performance by displaying increased capacity utilization and longer cycle times, both of which extend the life of the cells. This study looks at the minimum-max technique of individual solar energy, wind energy, and a combined PV wind battery hybrid power system to size a VRB battery for application in renewable energy systems. Individual wind and solar systems need larger battery capacities for consistent, constant power output; hybrid systems require batteries with lower ratings. An optimal charging mechanism is proposed and explored through MATLAB simulations.

Naturally, aging is an inevitable process, and as people grow older, various physiological and pathological effects manifest in the human body. Old age should be viewed as a completely normal and natural biological phenomenon. It is crucial to extensively study the patterns of morbidity, encompassing common health issues and health behaviors in the elderly population, in order to formulate effective preventive strategies that can enhance their quality of life. The objective of this study was to assess the sociodemographic profile and the prevalence of multiple health issues and health-related behaviors among the elderly population. Among the 124 participants in this study, 59.7% were female, and 40.3% were male. The average age of the elderly participants was 70.3 years, with a significant portion (45.2%) falling within the 60-69 age group. Our study revealed that arthritis was the most common health condition among the elderly, affecting 64.5% of the participants, followed by gastrointestinal diseases (48.3%) and cataracts (45%). Given the diverse physical health challenges faced by the elderly, it is imperative to strengthen geriatric healthcare services at all levels of the healthcare system. This will ensure the provision of comprehensive and tailored services to the vulnerable elderly population, ultimately improving their overall well-being and quality of life.

Climate change (CC) represents new and unprecedented challenges for businesses and is now viewed as a new business imperative. Unlike large multinationals, Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) are particularly vulnerable to climatic hazards, and often lack flexibility in the distribution of their risks. To preserve their business and sustainably strengthen their resilience and competitive advantages, SMEs must now systematically integrate adaptation to the impacts of CC in their business strategies and the various links in their value chain. Therefore, it is necessary to provide them with appropriate methodological tools dedicated to the assessment of their vulnerabilities and risks and the development of CC resilience strategies. Using an optimized approach to Moroccan SMEs, this research work provides a sequential flowchart to characterize and prioritize climate risks, identify potential business opportunities, and develop a coherent strategy to adapt to climate change, integrated with the Greenhouse Gas mitigation process. The development of this flowchart was guided by the results of the evaluation of the implementation of the Climate Expert tool to help analyze climate risks and opportunities- with several Moroccan companies and the benchmark of the instruments for screening and evaluating climate risks relevant to the Moroccan business context. Consequently, three main areas of impact have been identified, covering the company's core operations, the value chain and the external environment. Later, this flowchart will serve as the basis for developing an online tool for managers to assess vulnerability to climate risks at the scale of their companies and to identify and prioritize adaptation measures.

The objective of this research is to investigate the implications of teaching Happiness Engineering subject on various positive psychological outcomes, including subjective well-being, prosocial behavior, and life satisfaction among students enrolled in the 11th and 12th grades, hailing from two senior secondary schools situated in the Bokaro district of Jharkhand, India. The research involved 216 participants from seven classes, who were randomly assigned to one of two conditions: HE (Happiness Engineering) and Control. Participants were selected such that students who took Happiness Engineering as a compulsory subject were part of the HE groups, and those who did not, were part of the Control group. The researchers investigated the development and expression of overall well-being in students, including subjective well-being, gratitude, prosocial behavior, and life satisfaction. The effect of this intervention (teaching of Happiness Engineering subject) was then compared to the control condition (where participants did not engage in Happiness Engineering classes). The results of the study revealed several significant findings. First, participants who were part of the HE intervention group reported higher levels of optimism and life satisfaction and lower levels of negative affect. This suggests that the act of consciously focusing on and appreciating positive aspects of one’s life can lead to increased well-being and decreased negative emotions. An exceptionally profound revelation came to light concerning the robust correlation between HE classes and contentment regarding the scholastic milieu. It is noteworthy that, both directly after the implementation of the intervention and during the subsequent assessment at the end of a four-week period, the cohort exposed to the HE intervention exhibited elevated levels of satisfaction in their educational environment in contrast to the control condition. The study unveiled that Happiness Engineering is an effective school subject that has the potential to profoundly influence young adults in perceiving and engaging with their school environment, ultimately fostering a more positive and enriching educational experience.

Discussions related to social responsibility became one of the important topics during the pandemic because many people were affected from economic to social aspects. Therefore, the university's contribution to society through the University Social Responsibility program is considered important and significant to reduce the impact caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. This study aims to analyze the USR program's form and benefits for COVID-19-affected communities, examining actions of Indonesian and Malaysian universities. Addressing research gaps, it offers valuable insights, comparative analysis, and practical recommendations for Southeast Asian universities and policymakers, enriching the discourse on University Social Responsibility. This study selected two universities as case studies, namely Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) and Universiti Sains of Malaysia (USM). During the Covid-19 pandemic, these two universities implemented USR according to the triple bottom line, especially in the social field. The research methodology employed for this article encompasses qualitative techniques, primarily through in-depth interviews and the collection of secondary data, which also encompasses website evaluations and media clippings. The results showed that UMY and USM implemented USR in the form of community empowerment in the fields of education, health, and technological innovation. Both universities created a community empowerment scheme by involving students, lecturers and other stakeholders to show their contribution in dealing with and solving community problems affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. These universities have always been oriented towards innovation, especially in the fields of education, research and community service. Innovation is significant because it can help increase skills and add value to the wider community and have an impact on sustainable development.
