Improved Multilevel Fast Multipole Method for Higher-Order discretizations 高阶离散化的改进多级快速多极方法

The Multilevel Fast Multipole Method (MLFMM) allows for a reduced computational complexity when solving electromagnetic scattering problems. Combining this with the reduced number of unknowns provided by Higher-Order discretizations has proven to be a difficult task, with the general conclusion being that going above 2nd order is not worthwhile. In this paper, we challenge this conclusion, providing results that demonstrate the potential performance gains with Higher-Order MLFMM and showing some modifications to the traditional MLFMM that can benefit both Higher-Order and standard discretizations.

A hybrid dielectric resonator antenna with polarization-agility and wideband operation 具有极化敏捷性和宽带工作的混合介质谐振器天线

This summary article focuses on the design and performance of a compact antenna unit for polarization recon-figurability. A four-element array of aperture coupled slots is employed, and each slot is fed by two microstrip lines defining an eight-port antenna unit. The slot array is also topped by a dielectric resonator antenna to hybridize radiation and improve gain and bandwidth while also reducing cross-polarization levels. The eight-port antenna is low-profile, compact (160 mm by 160 mm by 22 mm), and offers good radiation performance with a bandwidth of more than 35%. In addition, the planar feeding circuit for element excitation is covered by a back plate enclosure with integration on the underside of the antenna ground plane which allows for the possibilty of different polarization states. Measurements and simulations are in agreement and the compact antenna may be useful for satellite navigation systems, diplexing units, and other phased arrays for wireless communications, including polarization diversity, direction finding, and other beam steering applications.

Key aspects of robot based antenna measurements at millimeter wave frequencies 基于毫米波频率的机器人天线测量的关键方面

In this paper important aspects concerning a probe based antenna characterization environment for frequencies up to 325 GHz are described. The flexibility to measure the far-field antenna diagram and to perform a near-field sampling is achieved by use of an industrial robot. In advance to the complete measurement setup verification, two main aspects of the new system are investigated. For the measurement of an antenna radiation pattern the receiving frequency converter is moved around the probe station with the Antenna Under Test (AUT). Therefore, the cables carrying the intermediate frequency signal are also in motion. The impact on the accuracy of the results is shown. Moreover an antenna gain calibration technique with a 3S-standard (three Shorts) for the probe deembedding and its precision are discussed.

8 Elements phased array antenna using superconducting receiving module 采用超导接收模块的8元相控阵天线

We have proposed a 3 GHz band active phased array antenna with a high-sensitivity cryogenic receiving unit. The high-sensitivity cryogenic receiving unit has 8 receiving modules, and each module consists of a small high-Tc superconducting (HTS) filter and a cooled low noise amplifier (LNA). The vacuum chamber size of this cryogenic receiving unit is 152×180×119 mm. As shown in this paper, measured noise temperature of the cryogenic receiving unit cooled at 77 K improved to less than 1/3 as compared with the noise temperature of only LNA at room temperature. Then the active phased array antenna consisted of the high-sensitivity cryogenic receiving unit, array antenna with circular arrayed antenna elements, and combiner unit. The active phased array antenna realized beam scan angle between -45 degree and 45 degree in azimuth. Also measured results were good agreed with calculation results.

Impact of driving direction on Land Mobile Satellite channel modeling 驱动方向对陆地移动卫星信道建模的影响

State-of-the-art statistical Land Mobile Satellite (LMS) channel models, which are valuable for their low computational complexity, produce time series of the received signal envelope. Commonly, such models consider different types of environment and different elevation angles of the satellite. However, they do not consider the driving direction, i.e., the azimuthal angle of the satellite. In this contribution we investigate the impact of the driving direction by utilizing an existing statistical satellite channel model. Thereby, the model parameters are derived via an image-based approach applied on the output of a hemispheric camera mounted on a vehicle. The model output, presented in terms of first order statistics shows a significant impact on received satellite signal and should therefore be taken into account for future channel models.

Terahertz dipole antenna performance enhancement using a photonic-bandgap GaAs substrate 利用光子带隙GaAs衬底增强太赫兹偶极子天线性能

A terahertz dipole antenna grown on a photonic-bandgap (PBG) GaAs substrate is presented. The desired PBG structure is utilized to reduce the thick GaAs substrates effects on the efficiency and the main beam direction. Simulated results show that a directivity of 8.7 dBi can be achieved in the upper half space with a considerably higher input impedance.

Performance of a dense focal plane array feeding an offset toroidal reflector antenna system is studied and discussed in the context of a potential application in multi-beam radiometers for ocean surveillance. We present a preliminary design of the array feed for the 5-m diameter antenna at X-band. This array is optimized to realize high antenna beam efficiency (~ 95%) over a wide scan range (±20°) with very low side-lobe and cross-polarization levels.

Detection of an artificial target with low radar cross-section in presence of backscatter 后向散射下低雷达截面积人工目标的检测

This paper presents an approach to improve the detection of an artificial target with low radar cross-section in presence of clutter. The target proposed in the paper modulates the phase response of the circularly polarized incident signal by means of rotation. The same physical phenomenon can be used to steer the modulated response in a non-specular direction. The bi-static measurements of the response of the target have demonstrated good agreement with theoretical prediction as well as with full-wave simulation.

This study deals with the characterization of propagation along the body at 60 GHz. An analytical model based on Green's function representation is proposed for an infinitesimal dipole radiating over the surface of a multilayer structure representing skin and clothing layers. Further, the textile effect on the propagation between two open-ended waveguides along a layered structure is experimentally investigated.

A Finite Element eigenanalysis of electrically large THz and photonic structures 大太赫兹和光子结构的有限元特征分析

In this work the performance and behavior of nonlinear eigenanalysis algorithms on formulation based on the Finite Element Method (FEM) is investigated for structures operating in THz. A technique like the tree-cotree splitting formulation method for the suppression of non-physical solution, the enhancement of the numerical stability and efficiency, is incorporated. Accurate global mesh truncation techniques are also adopted and refined for the eigenanalysis of open structures.
