HeinOnline offers a core digital library package that contains nearly 3,000 legal journals published in more than 60 different countries, including thousands of Australian, Canadian, and European legal materials and multiple international government publications. This vendor also has several other databases can be attached to this core collection, and “Labor and Employment: The American Worker” is one of them.It contains thousands of books, published from the early twentieth century to the present; hundreds of scholarly articles, ranging from 1904 to the present (with new articles added each month), on various topics, including labor contracts, collective bargaining, employment protections, and the history of the labor movement; and more than 10,000 subject-coded titles. Also available here are current reports on working conditions, legislative histories, Supreme Court case briefs, and a chart of landmark court cases in labor and employment (including the synopsis and full text of each case and an explanation of its significance in both jurisprudence and history), ranging between 1842 and 2018. When these and all the other categories of materials in this database are combined, it contains 10,984 titles, 14,659 volumes, and 5,244,894 pages. As with all databases that provide images of original documents, the readability of the materials here can vary, but thankfully none appear to be illegible. Navigating, rotating, enlarging, and reducing these documents can usually be done without difficulty. Database content can be browsed and/or searched for in numerous ways, all of which are understandable and which generally produce useful results. However, searches by title or description are often the least productive, while those in the full text are far more so. Pricing for this resource is vague, as it is determined by an institution’s location (i.e., in the United States or not), whether it has a law library, and other factors not specified by the vendor. Consortia discounts are also available. The content available here is impressive and will prove valuable to students and researchers of US labor history, especially those looking for case law, legislation, and other government publications on this topic. The licensing agreement for this database is too long, but is not unusual in its provisions, and should provide little cause for concern.

The Fashion and Race Database (FRD) is a subscription-based website focused on centering and amplifying historical and contemporary marginalized voices within the fashion industry. Created in 2017, the database is a curated collection of unique and exclusive content in various formats highlighting the underexamined innovations, challenges, and experiences of racialized groups within fashion. The website offers a modern design, intuitive facets, and newly implemented accessibility features. Though the content is not offered with posttermination access, the overall subscription cost is reasonable, and licensing is offered under the National Information Standards Organization (NISO) Shared Electronic Resource Understanding (SERU) license. Given its diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice (DEISJ) focus, user-friendly interface, unique content, relatively manageable cost, and streamlined licensing, FRD is a strong candidate to enrich any library’s collection in the fashion discipline.

Standard & Poor’s (S&P) Capital IQ NetAdvantage is an integrated Web-based market intelligence platform. NetAdvantage offers global news, market analytics, counterparty analytics, fund analytics, industry research, powerful screening tools, and people search capabilities, offered separately in many competitor products, under one platform using transparent and trusted industry-standard sources. Users can analyze the global business operating environment with information on public markets and indices, basic information on foreign exchange rates and interest rates, sovereign profiles, peer groups generated with S&P Capital IQ’s proprietary relevancy score, and detailed CFRA Industry Research Reports. The streamlined interface with mostly intuitive menus and links plus a free-text search bar make this platform more accessible than its more sophisticated counterparts. Limitations include lack of depth in some content areas, certain ADA compliance issues, and some clunky aspects of the search interface despite significant improvements over the years.

In fall 2023, business librarian stalwart IBISWorld underwent a platform renovation to improve discoverability, usability, and shareability of its Industry Reports while retaining its dependable industry data and analyses. These changes have, by and large, been successful, concentrating financial data, improving mobile navigation, adding download and sharing options, and revising the reporting style to be quicker and easier for users to understand. While there are other database options for Industry Reports, IBISWorld remains both the most exhaustive, covering more than 700 North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) industries, and, with the new-look launch, the most intuitive to use, making it a key addition for institutions with business, advertising, marketing, or finance departments.

The products are geared toward undergraduates but may also be useful for K‐12 and graduate-level audiences. The four collections cover topics in US criminal justice, environment, health care, and immigration. A civil rights collection is slated for release in late 2024. Primary sources include items such as congressional hearing transcripts, government reports, newspaper articles, press releases, public laws, and statistics. Additionally, unique content such as essays contextualize the primary sources. The materials in Trends & Policy range from the revolutionary era to contemporary, with the goal of providing a single source of policy information for each topic. These products are well organized and easy to navigate.
