South Asia Archive is a large primary source digital collection of South Asian historic materials from the 1700s to 1950s. It includes materials related to most subjects, with most sources in English and some in languages including Hindi and Bangla/Bengali. The archive was originally organized by the South Asia Research Foundation (SARF); in 2021, Coherent Digital purchased rights to the collection from Taylor & Francis (T&F) and has since migrated it to their award-winning Commons platform. The archive's new platform is well designed, easily navigable, and mobile responsive, and it offers improved metadata and content organization. It includes useful features such as an e-reader with full-text search, additional manual and AI-powered indexing, and more advanced search options. South Asia Archive is available as a one-time purchase of perpetual rights, with a standard license. Prices range from $36,000 to $72,000, and consortia discounts are available.

Faulkner Advisory for IT Studies (FAITS) is a Web-based resource containing industry reports that cover a wide range of information technology (IT) topics written for an academic audience. Available reports include products, standards, company profiles, and marketplace reports. The site is organized to allow browsing by topic or report type as well as searching.Reports are plainly written and utilize references to trade publications and news sources. They are routinely updated, and currency appears to be one of FAITS's strengths. Although it lags behind in expected user interface conventions, FAITS provides useful and timely reporting that students can use to inform scholarship and faculty to drive curriculum choices.

Lauren deLaubell
scite is a next-generation citation index that uses machine learning to retrieve and contextualize scientific research. Citing works are categorized as mentioning, supporting, or contrasting based on an artificial intelligence (AI) analysis of rhetoric and presented with a measure of confidence, a relevant snippet of context from the citing article, and access links (when available). Users can browse or visualize results using the web interface, install a browser extension to find similar citations for online text, or create a dashboard to visualize and track sets of citations. Use cases include citation searching in order to conduct systematic reviews, track the evolution of research on a particular topic, identify experts on a topic, and calculate impact factor. Users can also upload papers to conduct a reference check for retracted articles.

James Watson
Education Magazine Archive from ProQuest, part of Clarivate, is a digital archive of 26 magazines in the field of education, with date coverage ranging from 1910 to 2015. The titles chosen were originally aimed at teachers, policy makers, and other education professionals. Given the full-text coverage from the first volumes and issues to 2015, the Archive provides valuable access to those researching not just education but also areas such as social history, childhood studies, psychology, sociology, and politics. The Archive can be of use to a broad range of public, academic, and corporate library users. However, it will be of particular use to those institutions, like colleges and universities, with a focus on educational research and history. Institutions with multiple full-text subscriptions should compare their existing full-text access to this product before making final purchase or subscription decisions. This reviewer, for example, found an overlap greater than 60% between the Education Magazine Archive content and their library's current e-resources entitlements.

MEDLINE Ultimate MEDLINE最终

MEDLINE Ultimate is an update to the EBSCO database MEDLINE Complete, which was billed as an alternative interface for MEDLINE. With MEDLINE Ultimate, EBSCO's promotional materials seem to put more emphasis on its increased journal count (compared with MEDLINE Complete) than on its use as a MEDLINE interface. Like MEDLINE Complete, MEDLINE Ultimate includes primarily academic journals with some gray literature from government agencies and nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) such as the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO). MEDLINE Ultimate includes MeSH and filters, but the filters are not as well integrated as they are in PubMed. The search interface and indexing also have some quirks that librarians will want to be aware of. The main value-added feature of MEDLINE Ultimate is full-text access to additional journals not available through EBSCO's other two MEDLINE products. For libraries that do not subscribe to any of EBSCO's MEDLINE products and are interested in acquiring full-text access to a larger collection of biomedical journals, MEDLINE Ultimate may be appealing. However, most full text in MEDLINE Ultimate is for journals already available in MEDLINE Complete, so libraries that already subscribe to Complete may find the new product less interesting.

The Rehabilitation Reference Center (RRC) database brings together a variety of clinical resources, such as clinical reviews, drug information, patient education handouts, exercise images, research instrument information, and e-book chapters tailored for rehabilitation professionals and students, especially those in physical therapy and occupational therapy. This relatively small but current and full-text document collection is available exclusively from EBSCO and can be searched in tandem with other EBSCO subscription resources, making it easier to search and browse. Many of RRC's clinical reviews are also continuing education units (CEUs) and are available for physical therapists and occupational therapists. The collection could be improved by the continual addition of more clinical resources to support the diversity of rehabilitation topics for educators’ and practitioners’ needs. RRC is recommended for libraries supporting small to medium physical therapy and occupational therapy undergraduate and graduate programs or to complement coverage in other rehabilitation-related subscription resources.

Gale Primary Sources: Indigenous Peoples of North America, Part II, The Indian Rights Association, 1882‐1986 Gale主要资料来源:北美原住民,第二部分,印第安人权利协会,1882 - 1986
Pub Date : 2023-04-01 DOI: 10.5260/chara.24.4.41
Thomas J. Beck
Indigenous Peoples of North America is included in the Gale Primary Sources series and is in two parts. This database, The Indian Rights Association, 1882‐1986, is the second of the two. The Indian Rights Association (IRA) is the first organization to address American Indian rights and interests, and this collection includes its organizational records; incoming and outgoing correspondence; annual reports; draft legislation; photographs; administrative files; pamphlets, publications, and other print materials (including documents from the Council on Indian Affairs and other American Indian organizations); and manuscripts and research notes on Indian traditions, both social and cultural. Founded in 1882 by White philanthropists, the IRA's initial approach to American Indians was both assimilationist and paternalistic, leading it to advocate for the detribalization of America's Indigenous peoples, maintaining it would improve their social and economic status. Nevertheless, it was one of the first organizations to report on and expose the corruption of federal government officials tasked with working with and for American Indians. Eventually, the IRA would discard assimilationism and work with other, newer, occasionally Indian-run organizations such as the Association on American Indian Affairs, the Society of American Indians, and the National Indian Defense Association. The IRA sought to debunk misconceptions and half-truths about American Indians and their condition in the United States, which were too often the basis for policy and legislation related to Native Americans. It also sent association representatives to Indian reservations to make note of local conditions there, not only to evaluate the actions of the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) but also to provide background information for legislation related to Indigenous peoples. This database's search functions often produce results relevant to the query submitted, and both its search and browse functions can be navigated with relative ease. This database can be subscribed to or purchased with an annual hosting fee. The purchase price, based on a variety of factors, can start as low as $2,796 for public libraries or $3,994 for academic libraries, with starting annual hosting fees of $22 and $32, respectively. Whether institutions find this pricing reasonable depends on their need for the materials covered by the Indigenous Peoples of North America collection. The licensing agreement for this database is too long and detailed but standard in its composition and therefore is of no concern.

Beck","doi":"10.5260/chara.24.4.41","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.5260/chara.24.4.41","url":null,"abstract":"Indigenous Peoples of North America is included in the Gale Primary Sources series and is in two parts. This database, The Indian Rights Association, 1882‐1986, is the second of the two. The Indian Rights Association (IRA) is the first organization to address American Indian\u0000 rights and interests, and this collection includes its organizational records; incoming and outgoing correspondence; annual reports; draft legislation; photographs; administrative files; pamphlets, publications, and other print materials (including documents from the Council on Indian Affairs\u0000 and other American Indian organizations); and manuscripts and research notes on Indian traditions, both social and cultural. Founded in 1882 by White philanthropists, the IRA's initial approach to American Indians was both assimilationist and paternalistic, leading it to advocate for the detribalization\u0000 of America's Indigenous peoples, maintaining it would improve their social and economic status. Nevertheless, it was one of the first organizations to report on and expose the corruption of federal government officials tasked with working with and for American Indians. Eventually, the IRA\u0000 would discard assimilationism and work with other, newer, occasionally Indian-run organizations such as the Association on American Indian Affairs, the Society of American Indians, and the National Indian Defense Association. The IRA sought to debunk misconceptions and half-truths about American\u0000 Indians and their condition in the United States, which were too often the basis for policy and legislation related to Native Americans. It also sent association representatives to Indian reservations to make note of local conditions there, not only to evaluate the actions of the Bureau of\u0000 Indian Affairs (BIA) but also to provide background information for legislation related to Indigenous peoples. This database's search functions often produce results relevant to the query submitted, and both its search and browse functions can be navigated with relative ease. This database\u0000 can be subscribed to or purchased with an annual hosting fee. The purchase price, based on a variety of factors, can start as low as $2,796 for public libraries or $3,994 for academic libraries, with starting annual hosting fees of $22 and $32, respectively. Whether\u0000 institutions find this pricing reasonable depends on their need for the materials covered by the Indigenous Peoples of North America collection.
