Anaerobic bacteria in the gingival sulcus is the critical etiological factor for initiation and development of periodontal disease such as gingivitis and periodontitis. In addition to scaling and other regular treatments, supporting treatment such as giving irrigating solution using chlorhexidine and hydrogen peroxide to the gingival sulcus was commonly performed by many dental practitioners. Several pharmaceutical companies also provide some modified irrigating solutions for better efficacy and convenience. However, there is still insufficient evidence for each modification. The purpose of this study is to confirm the effectiveness of utilizing combined irrigation solution of chlorhexidine and hydrogen peroxide toward bacterial growth inhibitory capacity. This research was conducted as a laboratory experiment in vitro. The isolated bacteria from human gingival sulcus was taken as the bacterial sample. The experiment was performed by using disc diffusion method on blood agar plate media which was then followed by measuring the bacterial inhibitory zone using sliding caliper. Irrigating solutions for the treatment consisted of 0.2% chlorhexidine and 0.2% chlorhexidine combined with 3% hydrogen peroxide. Homogeneity test by Levene showed that the data were normally distributed. Therefore, Anova variant analysis test was performed. The statistical analysis results showed that the obtained F value was higher than F table with significant p value of < 0.05. These results suggested that there was a significant bacterial growth inhibitory capacity among the groups. The post-hoc analysis indicated that using 0.2% chlorhexidine solution gave higher mean-difference. A Standalone of 0.2% chlorhexidine solution was more effective for anaerobic gingival sulcus bacteria growth inhibition. Keywords—The bacterial inhibitory zone, anaerobic gingival sulcus bacteria, 0.2% chlorhexidine, 3% hydrogen peroxide.

Dementia has become the leading cause of disability in elderly and contributed to the care burden in many countries, including Indonesia. The family and community play the key role in caring and supporting dementia patients. Their knowledge about dementia and attitudes toward dementia patients will impact the quality of care, but studies on this issue are scarce in Indonesia. This study aimed to investigate the knowledge and attitudes toward people with dementia among general population in Yogyakarta. This study was a cross sectional study by using questionnaire survey. Two hundred and ten people from across Yogyakarta attended a free seminar about dementia held in Alzheimer Indonesia in Yogyakarta, Indonesia and filled the questionnaires. The data were collected using the Alzheimer’s Disease Knowledge Scale (ADKS), Bryan’s Dementia Attitudes Scale (BDAS), and also demographic questionnaire. The result of the study showed that the overall Alzheimer’s Disease Knowledge scores of the participants were low compared with scores in a similar study (M = 17.17 out of 30 SD ±2,9, n = 210). Statistically, age was the only variable that showed a significant correlation with attitude, while knowledge about dementia did not. Background: A corneal foreign body is one of the main causes of blindness. The effects can range from mild infections (corneal abration, keratitis) to severe damage (endophthalmitis) depending on the type of material. Late-stage complications can cause permanent blindness. Objective: This study aimed to determine the effect of types of corneal foreign body material on the severity of eye infection. Methods: This study was a non-experimental research with analytic observational and crosssectional methods. Subjects were 30 patients. The samples were male and female patients (10-70 years old) who came to the eye clinic with a history of exposure to corneal foreign bodies of less than 8 days. The study was conducted by interviews and visual examination on the anterior segments of the eyes. The analysis used Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (Simple Linear Regression and Spearman tests). Results: There were several types of foreign body material that affected the cornea; gram iron (53.3%), plant branches (16.7%), animal wings (13.3%), sand (13.3%) and food (3,4 %). Most of these types of material caused corneal erosion (66.7%) and keratitis infections (33.3%). The incidence of corneal ulcers, endophthalmitis and panophthalmitis was not present in this study. Conclusion: There were no significant differences between the types of corneal foreign body material and the severity of eye infections. Keywords— corneal, foreign body, eye infection

School phobia is a constant and unrealistic fright that usually happened on a child which can disturb his or her pre school period. This study aims to know the relationship between parenting and birth order and school phobia. An analytic approach with a correlation design was applied. The population of this study was parents of pre-school aged children in kindergarten of Dharma Wanita I in Gunungsari sub-district, Baureno district, Bojonegoro, comprising of 36 participants collected by a simple random sampling. The results of data analysis using Multiple Linear Regression indicates a significant correlation between parenting and school phobia (p = 0.004; p < 0.05) and a significant correlation between birth order and school phobia (p = 0.001; p < 0.05). the simultaneous analysis also indicates a significant correlation of parenting and birth order with school phobia (p value = 0.000; p < 0.05) with R square = 0,460, which means the power of parenting and birth order associated with school phobia occurrence was 46%, while 54% was explained by other variables that was not examined. Parenting may influence behavior and comprehension for children related with their desire for school, while birth order related with experiences of parents and children's in dependency. --The most common symptoms in lung cancer are dyspnea and anxiety that cause restlessness on patients. This study aimed to identify the impact of PLB and PMR training program on the increase of oxygen saturation level and relaxation in patients with lung cancer. The study design was Quasi-Experiment with pre-test and post-test without control group. The inclusion criteria were patients with lung cancer who were affected by shortness of breath, admitted for at least 6 days, and provided with oxygen therapy through nasal cannula. The exclusion criteria were patient with musculoskeletal disorder, abnormal hemoglobin level, and pleural effusion. 19 participants were involved in this study. The instruments included pulse oximetry to measure oxygen saturation as well as subjective and objective monitoring form to measure relaxation level. The Faculty of Nursing of Universitas Indonesia had issued ethical clearance before the study was conducted. The results indicated a significant difference in oxygen saturation before and after PLB and PMR training program (p value < 0.05), and a significant difference in the level of relaxation before and after PLB and PMR training program (p value < 0.05). The multivariate analysis showed that age was a strong predictor of oxygen saturation. This study concluded that breathing and relaxation training program were able to promote oxygen saturation level and relaxation. Nurses are encouraged to apply this exercise for patients with lung cancer who are affected by shortness of breath. This study aimed to identify the impact of PLB and PMR training program on the increase of oxygen saturation level and relaxation in patients with lung cancer. The study design was Quasi-Experiment with pre-test and post-test without control group. The inclusion criteria were patients with lung cancer who were affected by shortness of breath, admitted for at least 6 days, and provided with oxygen therapy through nasal cannula. The exclusion criteria were patient with musculoskeletal disorder, abnormal hemoglobin level, and pleural effusion. 19 participants were involved in this study. The instruments included pulse oximetry to measure oxygen saturation as well as subjective and objective monitoring form to measure relaxation level. The Faculty of Nursing of Universitas Indonesia had issued ethical clearance before the study was conducted. The results indicated a significant difference in oxygen saturation before and after PLB and PMR training program (p value < 0.05), and a significant difference in the level of relaxation before and after PLB and PMR training program (p value < 0.05). The multivariate analysis showed that age was a strong predictor of oxygen saturation. This study concluded that breathing and relaxation training program were able to promote oxygen saturation level and relaxation. Nurses are encouraged to apply this exercise for patients with lung cancer who are affected by shortness of breath. The authors suggest to apply a qualitative method by providing longer time for intervention for further study.","PeriodicalId":227928,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the Third International Conference on Sustainable Innovation 2019 – Health Science and Nursing (IcoSIHSN 2019)","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123272335","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
