Endodontic treatment should be the treatment of choice in irradiated patients in order to avoid extraction or to postpone it to a less threatening post irradiation period. Regressive changes in the irradiated area supplied by these damaged vessels appear so far to be of a nutritional nature. Endodontic procedures should be accomplished with judicious precision and gentle. The tooth should never leave "open for drainage" in an irradiated patient. Shorter lengths during instrumentation of the root canals would appear to be more desirable than over extended lengths. Canal obturation with gutta percha by means of lateral condensation is effective. This report demonstrated multiple endodontic treatments in two patients after cancericidal radiation to the head and neck area. The successful treatment had been followed up after 2 years.

The aim of this research was to study the eruption time of permanent teeth in malnutritional children of primary school Si Sa Ket province. The total sample size was 337, aged between 6-16 years. The results from the study showed that there were significantly delay in time of eruption of permanent teeth in malnutrition group when compared to the normal group of other study. The pattern of permanent dentition in malnutrition group coincided with those normal group of other study. There was high correlation between age and height, weight and eruption time of permanent teeth. Age estimation can be done through Regression equation based on eruption time of permanent teeth scores.

Eventhough the training course in the community hospital had on favorable effect on the knowledge about the rural dental health system of both the student under and not under the compulsory act, it had unfavorable effect on the knowledge about the rural health delivery system. The student under the compulsory act had also good attitude towards teamwork and the practice in the rural area while the student not under the act had only good attitude towards teamwork but poor attitude towards the practice in the rural area. To train the dentist is more suitable for the future role, it is recommended that the training course should be well performed and conformed with the real situation.

The spring inclined plane is one of the removable appliances that can be used to correct incisors crossbite which is designed for the early treatment period. In order to prevent skeletal malocclusion and reestablish proper muscle balance. The appliance is very simple which composes of clasps on the first molar both sides and spring 0.9 millimetre diameter. This spring was bended as an inclined plane above the lower incisors. The force from this spring will push upper incisors anteriorly. The spring inclined plane is very effective in mixed dentition. Nevertheless this spring is appropriate to use in the patient who can not wear the removeable orthodontic appliance in the upper jaw.

The study was carried out to test the effect of storage time on sterility of instruments in oral surgical packs used in the out patient unit, Dental Hospital, Prince of Songkhla University. Stainless steel wire was used to represent the instruments and put in each pack of all 705 oral surgical packs. After autoclaving at the different storage times within a period of three months, no contamination was found. Therefore, it could be concluded that the sterilization and storage methods of oral surgical packs in the Dental Hospital are acceptable.

The relationship between the periodontal microbiota and the threshold for periodontal disease is dependent on the specific bacterial composition of the plaque and the resistance of the host. Supragingival plaque is the cause of gingivitis and plays a primary role in the initiation of periodontitis. The 0.2% chlorhexidine mouthwash (twice a day) is safe and most effective antiplaque and anti-gingivitis agent. The use of adjunctive tetracycline for 2 week periods (1 gm daily) with root debridement is highly effective against Actinobacillus actinomycetemcomitans and many of suspected virulence microorganisms, the major etiological agents of juvenile periodontitis. For rapidly progressive periodontitis and refractory adult periodontitis, metronidazole for 1-2 week periods (600 mg.daily) has excellent activity against strictly anaerobic bacteria such as Bacteroides gingivalis, Spirochetes and others. Clinical use of antimicrobial agent in adjuvant with scaling, root planing, and personal oral hygiene instruction cause a significant improvement of the periodontium.

Information about drug used and medical history among dental patients would be useful for dental practice and teaching of clinical pharmacology. Therefore, 541 consecutive adult outpatients of Mahidol dental school were studied in 1987. The names of drug used and medical problems were obtained by direct questioning. Out of patients surveyed, 307 (56.7%) were taking drugs and the most commonly drug used was non-narcotic analgesics. 300 patients (55.4%) had medical problems and allergy was the most common disease. The frequency of patients who taking drugs and having medical problems varied between age groups. The highest frequency of medication intake was found in patients with age above thirty. The highest frequency of significant medical conditions was found in patients with age above fifty. The data from this investigation revealed that the medical problems of patients which affect dental treatment were very common. Consequently, the dental personnel should study more about the pharmacology of systemic drugs and the nature of systemic diseases.

The objective of this research is to study dental health attitudes among grade 6 Schoolchildren in Thapsakae District of Prachubkirikhan Province. The measurement of attitude is Likert Method. The total sample size was 235 Schoolchildren in the schools which were selected 2 schools per Tambon by simple random sampling method. There were 125 male Schoolchildren and 110 female Schoolchildren. The average age was 12.1 years. The results from this study showed that the average attitude score was 3.53 that may be regarded as fair. No statistical difference was found between male and female groups (P greater than 0.05). But there was significantly different according to Intelligence level (P less than 0.05). In addition results revealed that there were some wrong attitudes in dental health that should be improved.

Drug-Abused-Patients are the one of the high risk group to HIV positive, by using and sharing syringe and needle each of other. This study reported the comparative study between HIV positive and negative patients which found clinically findings in oral cavity and the other part of the body, after the HIV positive patients had been found, not more than 2 years ago. This was performed in Drug-Abused patients 164 cases in Thailand, which now have HIV positive more than 7,135 cases, some of them are Drug-Abused patients more than 2,718 cases. Because of having no ideal drugs or vaccine for treatment and vaccinated. So, most of AIDS patients died.

The purpose of this study was to find out the factors influenced on the survival of amalgam dental restoration. The study population was the amalgam restoration of 726 molar teeth, 3 restoration types, cavity class I, class I other surface and class I compound, of Bangkok Metropolitan school children aged 6-12 years. The data showed how the survival of restoration placed in teeth varied with the restoration aged ranging 6-30 months. The result indicated that there were 48.10% of broken filling and 19.42% of secondary caries. The rate of broken filling was significantly related to the child age at the time of treatment, the restoration age, the surface texture of the restoration and the restoration type (p less than 0.01). As for the rate of secondary caries, there were significant correlation with the surface texture of the filling, the restoration type and the factor "broken filling" (p less than 0.01). By means of the linear multiple regression, it told us explicitly about the magnitude of the relation that the surface texture of the filling was the major influential factor which could predict the variance of broken filling about 18.29% while the broken filling was also the major influential factor which could predict the variance of secondary caries about 7.93%.
