lnsertion of sodium into phosphates Na3M2(P O4% (M = Fe, V) were investigated electrochemically to determine the usefulness as the possible cathodes for sodium batteries. The discharge curves show that sodium ion can be accommodated into these hosts. Specific charges of up to 45 mAhgi and 140 mAhgi were obtained for NatNa3Fg(P O4ts and Na/Na3V2(P O4b oells with liquid organic el ectrolytes at room temperature, respectively. lntercalat ion processes under constant current densities of O.1 mA㎝’2 were reversible within the range of composition 3.0<xく3.4 for Na.Fe,(PO4ts and 1.2 〈 x 〈 3.8 for Na.V2(P O4)3.

We synthesized the two pyrophosphates LiVP_2O_7 and TiP_2O_7 by a solid state reaction, and the cathode properties of lithium secondary batteries were investigated. The structures were characterized by powder X-ray Rietveld refinement. Lithium cells using LiVP_2O_7 and TiP_2O_7 cathodes showed that approximately 0.5 Li per unit could be reversibly deintercalated from LiVP_2O_7 at 4.1V vs. Li/Li^+, 0.8 Li per unit could be reversibly intercalated into TiP_2O_7 at 2.6V vs. Li/Li^+. The redox potentials 4.1V of LiVP_2O_7 and 2.6V of TiP_2O_7 were higher than that of transition metal oxides such as VO_2 and TiO_2.

In this paper the void fraction and flow pattern of the two-phase flow in a micro-fin tube were investigated experimentally for a pure refrigerant HFC134a. The experiment was carried out at a pressure range of 0.6 and 1.2MPa with mass velocities of 90 and 180kg/m^2 s, in which the vapor quality varied from 0 to 1. The void fraction was measured by means of simultaneously closing valves of both sides of the test tube at adiabatic condition. Experimental results for the micro-fin tube were compared with previous correlations for smooth tube. It was found that experimental data of the micro-fin tube were lower than predicted results using correlations for smooth tube. As a trial, an empirical correlation was proposed, based on the present experimental results. The observation of the flow pattern through a sight glass was also carried out with a camera. The observation results were compared with modified Baker's map.

The higher temperature of spinning enhanced the refonnation through the lower viscosity. The thinner lobe emphasized the die-swelling through the larger shear rate, which reduces the viscosity, although the nozzles of the present study had the same cross-sectional area. Shape factors of the nozzle and fiber rescribe the extents of cause and results of die-swelling, respectively. Die-swelling is found to change the radial type alignment of the constituent domains to random order. The degrees of preferred orientation along the fiber axis were slightly influenced by die-swelling. The pressure in spinning and the nozzle shape were correlated to the reformation extent of the resultant fiber.","PeriodicalId":22886,"journal":{"name":"The reports of Institute of Advanced Material Study Kyushu University","volume":"60 1","pages":"7-11"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1999-07-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86595802","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
