Minimizing Car Thief Incidence in the Philippines through An Alternative Car Staller System 通过另一种汽车安装系统来减少菲律宾的偷车贼发生率

Automotive is a fast-moving product and one of the most lucrative industry all over the world. In the Philippines, almost all kinds of car brand shops are located across the archipelago. Corollary to this profitable business, car thief has become prevalent, if not, one of the worst crime incidents in the country. For this purpose, an alternative car staller system is developed to minimize car thief the same way in most automotive company does to their car products. Using an experimental design, the study revealed that: 1) the car staller system circuit is effective in terms of distance traveled; 2) using gasoline engine, the ignition system stalls indefinitely after three attempts of running; 3) there is a significant difference in the voltage across the battery with and without the device; 4) the car staller circuit is economical compared to existing commercially available car alarm system. Further, that using the car staller system is encouraged among car owners to minimize car thief incidence in the country.

Development of a Robotic Platform for Quadruped Gait Investigation 四足机器人步态研究平台的研制

This study presents a platform used for quadruped gait investigation. The quadruped has two degrees of freedom in each leg controlled by servomotors. The quadruped, totally weighing 1.5 kg., platform is designed to be developed and built from commercially available off-the-shelf components. The dimensions are 34 cm. in length, 21 cm. in width, and 33 cm, in height when in upright position. From the developed quadruped platform, gaits derived from four-legged animals can be implemented and studied to observe walking or running characteristics. The joint angles needed for each various gait structure are derived by using the inverse kinematics provided by structure of the quadruped. Experimental results have shown initial findings on how four-legged animals achieve their respective gaits.

Road Surface Quality Assessment Using Fast-Fourier Transform 基于快速傅里叶变换的路面质量评价

Poor road conditions are associated with further structural damage and vehicular problems that may lead to related accidents. Previous studies have talked about the relationship between vibrations sensed on roads and road conditions - which will be the basis of this study. This project utilizes MATLAB-Mobile's ability to access a smartphone's accelerometer. Transmitting information from smartphone to the internet. Aiming to see the different trends in vibrations between smooth, rough, and bumpy roads. The average accelerations in the x, y, and z-axis were considered in all road surface conditions where x is horizontal, y is vertical, and z is angular acceleration. Using the Fourier analysis data trends between the three road surface conditions were seen and determined. Smooth surface conditions exhibit minor changes in data. The frequencies exhibited by this road classification are evenly distributed with uniformity and minimal differences. Rough surfaces exhibit noticeable peaks in data-protruding and scattering all throughout. Bumpy road surfaces show sudden high changes in acceleration-showing constant changes and seldomly staying at a certain range.

A Peak Demand Reduction Scheme of Air-Conditioning (AC) Loads Using a New Binary Particle Swarm Optimization (NBPSO) Algorithm 基于二元粒子群优化(NBPSO)算法的空调负荷减峰方案

Great power should come with high efficiency, otherwise there will be an excessive loss in the system. Managing one's resources could add up to an effective whole, thus this paper applies a Peak Load Reduction scheme using price signals to shave peak demand to avoid any disturbances it may cost. In this paper, forecasted price values are used to provide a Demand Limit on which how many numbers of Air-Conditioning Units (ACUs) can be scheduled together with the New Binary Particle Swarm Optimization (NBPSO). The simulations and optimization were carried out in GridLAB-D and Matlab, respectively. After the simulations, there was an average of 13.54 per cent reduction in power consumption and 15.97 per cent reduction in Total Cost.

Approximate Optimization Model on Routing Sequence of Cargo Truck Operations through Manila Truck Routes using Genetic Algorithm 基于遗传算法的马尼拉载货卡车路线调度序列近似优化模型

Genetic Algorithms are algorithms used for search, optimization, and machine learning. It is designed to mimic the natural process of selection where the fittest individuals survive. As such, it is applied fields of mathematics and science. One of which that it can be applied to is routing, which can also be a solution to the worsening traffic congestion most cities throughout the world continuously experience. Although its economy is rigorously growing with its expanding cargo transport and logistics industry and that land transport is its dominant mode of moving goods, the Philippines exhibits poor quality management in its traffic. One of the several solutions proposed to address this problem is by restricting large trucks because these are perceived as slow moving and occupants of large road space. The objective of this study is to propose an approximate optimization model by applying genetic algorithm that would give an optimum routing sequence for freight trucks assuming these trucks start from Manila's port area, to final destinations of northern (Northern Luzon Expressway or NLEX), southern (Southern Luzon Expressway or SLEX), and eastern alternate routes (Marcos Highway), and back to the port area. The algorithm was able to produce 480 best generations, and has provided the shortest and more reasonable total distance of 68.73 km.

Rice Bran Drying Kinetics of a Controlled Microwave Vacuum Dryer Optimized PLC-based: A Neuro-fuzzy Approach 基于plc优化的微波真空干燥机米糠干燥动力学:神经模糊方法

There have been several attempts to stabilize the rice bran using traditional physical, mathematical, and statistical methods for precise modeling but it is computationally laborious. In this study, the drying kinetics of the rice bran in prediction of the moisture loss was modelled through the neuro-fuzzy approach. The input parameters that were considered were microwave power, rotation speed, drying time, load capacity and vacuum pressure. A fuzzy inference system is designed to generate the rules of fuzzy logic where inputs of these are from the output of the trained neural network. Based on the result, it was found out that developed system was able to predict the moisture loss with error rate of 0.00014627.

Android Application-Based Controller for Air Conditioning Units 基于Android应用的空调控制器

Automation of electronic appliances through an Android-based mobile application has been a significant development in digital technology. This study focuses on the implementation of NodeMCU ESP8266-12E, a microcontroller development board with Wi-Fi capabilities specially designed for IoT-based Applications, and a Solid State Relay (SSR) as the initiating component of the device. Android Studio serves as the platform for making the application to provide an automated approach in controlling the air conditioning units (ACU) within a 60- meter range. A Java based program was developed to interface to an electronic component connected to an android device which regulates the air conditioner's power switch. After a number of trials, the system device achieved an accuracy of 100% in controlling the device's ON/OFF mechanism and 96.875% rate including delays.

Automated Wireless and Portable Measurement of Apnea-Hypopnea Index on Adult Patients With Obstructive Sleep Apnea Using Counter Based Algorithm 基于计数器算法的成人阻塞性睡眠呼吸暂停患者呼吸暂停低通气指数的自动无线便携式测量

Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) is a condition characterized by repetitive obstruction of the upper airway which results in oxygen saturation. Arousals or disturbance from sleep have been increasingly recognized as a serious health issue across the globe which can then about 7 percent for adult men and 5 percent for adult women in a general populace. OSA disturbing the sleep can be classified as a serious risk factor for serious health illness such ass atrial fibrillation, hypertension, stroke, metabolic disorder, coronary artery disease and an excessive sleepiness. In order to assess OSA, there is a need for simplification of the machine used in monitoring sleep apnea as per doctor's advice. The standard device used to monitor sleep apnea is a Polysomnogram (PSG) that requires sleep technicians and sleep doctors. The standard PSG consists of multiple wires to monitor various vital signs. The discomfort from attached wires and unfamiliar place to sleep can lead to off results. To solve this, the researchers developed a simplified version of the standard device. The portable wireless device consists of the Raspberry Pi 3B+, Pulse Oximeter Sensor, Flex Sensor, Thermistor and Nasal Pressure Transducer to monitor nasal airflow, respiratory effort, and blood oxygen saturation levels for Obstructive Sleep Apnea diagnosis. Results from standard PSG and the device were compared using paired T-test with p-value of 0.43 and found that there is no significant difference between the two methods.

Electricity has become a part of daily people's lives and also the most convenient form of energy to use for daily essentials. As a result of increasing population, the peak demand for power is also increasing, thus requiring more power plants to provide electricity. Power plant outages also result in thin power reserves that result in several yellow and red alert warnings in April 2019. Photovoltaic and wind sources which are readily available sources and unlimited can be used for energy generation. Using HOMER (Hybrid Optimization of Multiple Electric Renewables), models are developed using solar energy and wind energy as energy resources. The most efficient hybrid system (photovoltaic-battery, wind turbine-battery, and photovoltaic-wind turbine-battery) is determined at three different types of terrain (sea level, above sea level, seaside). The most efficient hybrid modeled which has the lowest cost of energy (COE) at each terrain are; a 5.38 kW solar PV, 1 kW wind turbine, 35×1 kWh L.A. battery, and 1×2.12 kW converter which cost P14.95/kWh for the sea-level location; a 5.70 kW solar PV, 1 kW wind turbine, 40×1 kWh L.A. battery, and 2.09 kW converter which costs P16.32/kWh for above sea-level location; and a 7.65 kW solar PV, 36×1 kWh L.A battery with a 2.2 kW converter which costs P15.50/kWh for seaside location. The capacity factor for photovoltaic and battery has the highest average capacity factor of 18.6627 and 17.4228 for seaside and sea-level location respectively, while hybrid photovoltaic and wind turbines for above sea level location at 46.3348.

Multiprocess Implementation of DNA Pre-alignment Filtering using the Bit Matrix Algorithm 利用位矩阵算法多进程实现DNA预对齐滤波

With the emergence of more advance technologies in genomic research, it has becomes easier to answer biological and genomic questions. To be able to analyze advance genomic data, however, the process has to start with the determination of sequence variations between two genomic sequences. This process is called the read mapping process. This involves mapping reads to a similar reference genome which can be computationally intensive. Because of this, most works adapt the filter-verification paradigm. More recently, there are works that focus on improving the filtering phase by adding another layer to it called the pre-alignment filter. This manuscript focuses on the bit matrix pre-alignment filter with a goal of improving the implementation by using multiprocessing techniques that exploit multi-core CPUs. The results of this manuscript show that there is an improvement in using the parallel version over the sequential version by an average factor of 4.2 without sacrificing accuracy.
