Abstract Following the COVID-19 epidemic, a massive vaccination drive has impacted the global social fabric. This article explains multimodal discourse analysis, often known as multimodal content analysis, a qualitative content analysis method. The term "multimodal discourse analysis" refers to studying different communication modalities. It also gives scholars an example of multimodal discourse analysis that they may use to guide future research and start a debate about the possible benefits and problems of using several forms of communication. It has been thoroughly described that this study exhibited multimodal voices that can be compatible or divergent, as in pragmatic dissociative echoing. According to the theoretical thrust of this analysis, some memes are (re)posted via social media (and, in some cases, become viral), and the prior voice(s) can be re-purposed (e.g., ridiculed or unknowingly misinterpreted). Overall, this research has significant theoretical and methodological implications for memes since it highlights the efficacy of multimodal voicing, intertextuality, and echoing notions. This study emphasizes the epistemological uncertainty in public and academic understandings of memes and voices that cannot be characterized unequivocally. Keywords: meme, covid-19, multimodal social analysis, echoing, intertextuality

Abstract The Tokopedia squad is a group of influencers formed by the Indonesian e-commerce giant Tokopedia in one of its advertisements. The Tokopedia Squad advertisement was uploaded with the headline “Inspirational, update current products & tell you anti-stale promos!”. Having the concept of a Squad or a team consisting of eleven well-known Indonesian influencers, Tokopedia Squad narrates the life of young people who have contemporary needs and can be accessed easily, practically, and instantly through the Tokopedia platform. Advertising publicity intends to promote a product to the intended target market. Advertising publicity that is carried out massively and carried out on a large scale certainly conveys discourse messages that contain ideology in them. The purpose of this study is to dissect the construction of discourse contained in the advertising publicity of Tokopedia Squad with the study of critical discourse analysis by Norman Faircligh, by looking at a textual discourse seen not only as text but as social practice. The method used is to look at three discursive dimensions starting from the text, text production, and sociocultural practices that build the discourse of the text. The results of the analysis found that the birth of text as a social practice was based on the socio-cultural conditions of Indonesia, especially millennial youth who are passionate about updates and technological matters. The ideology of convenience and consumerism aligns millennial youth which can be realized with the Tokopedia platform. Keywords: Discourse Construction, Tokopedia Squad, Publicity

This study specifically discussed the field of meaning in spicy porridge Malay cuisine. The purpose of this study was to describe the components of importance, type of meaning, and semantic function in traditional foods of Malay spicy porridge in the city of Stabat. The method used is qualitative. The data source comes from interviews with informants, namely the indigenous Malay in Stabat City. The data collection method is carried out by interview. Data analysis methods are carried out by the Padan method and with PUP techniques. Based on the results of the analysis it is known that the definition of lexeme materials, how to cook, and tools on spicy porridge can be done using the analysis of components of meaning. Through the analysis of the meaning, a component can be seen in the difference between one lexeme and another lexeme on a concrete basis. The meaning component in spicy porridge cuisine has 59 lexicons consisting of 46 lexicons of ingredients, 5 lexicons of how to cook, and 8 lexicons of tools. The component of meaning is then formed by 12 lexemes namely, tubers lexemes, nuts, fruits, spices, wet spices, flash, leaves, cutting, cooking, metal, stones, and wood.

The story of Panji is a form of cultural revitalization that has begun to fade and be displaced by the presence of superheroes who have been adopted from western culture. Unfortunately, the majority of these figures are contrary to the noble values of the Javanese ancestors and are more oriented towards the modernization of western culture. Therefore, this study aims to map the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of the Ngelmu application which is oriented towards growing interest in learning for elementary school-age children in getting to know Panji Stories and the moral messages it conveys. The results of the study show that Ngelmu has unique and interesting features in increasing students' interest in learning. Among them are: Mirengake, Ngagara, Nyimak, Ngromo, Mitutur. From the results of the analysis, it was concluded that Ngelmu is one of the applications designed to introduce and preserve the Panji Story so that it continues to exist even though the use of technology is classified as increasing. Through this Panji story, users will be introduced to a leader who has noble character and manners in accordance with the teachings of Javanese culture. In addition, this application aims to make the younger generation familiar with original Indonesian heroes before they admire superheroes from western countries.

The study entitled The Analysis of the Main Character in Short Story The Husband Stitch by Carmen Maria Machado is aimed to find out the psychological, sociological, and physiological dimensions of the main character and the methods of characterization used by the author to present the main character in this story. There were some theories used in this study such as the theory about characterization by Griffith (1982), and the theory about the dimension of character by Wellek and Warren (1955). The author uses a direct method to represent the main character to the readers. After analyzing, the author describes the main character of “I” as a beautiful girl who comes from a good family. She has some secret about the ribbon on her neck, and she does not want someone else to know about it, even her husband. The main character in this story experienced a dynamic character. The main character of “I”, who at first did not want to show what was behind her green ribbon, finally changed her mind and showed what she had been hiding from her husband.

The language used in Bulukumba Regency has its uniqueness. This is because the younger generation uses the Bugis language more often than Indonesian. The dominance of the Bugis language is interesting because Konjo, Makassar, and Indonesian languages are less visible. In this regard, this study seeks to explore the attitudes of the younger generation towards Indonesian language use in the Bulukumba Regency. This aims to identify the perceptions of the younger generation towards the Indonesian language. This perception is also associated with the younger generation’s use of language. The research method uses questionnaires and direct observation by collecting data in Botonhari District and Ujungbulu District, Bulukumba Regency. The research respondents were 50 young people aged 16—30 years. The research technique uses proportional stratified random sampling. As a result, the attitude of the younger generation towards the use of the Indonesian language tends to be positive. This positive attitude does not make the Indonesian language use increase in this area. This is because the younger generation is still used the Bugis language more than the Indonesian language. In addition, the Bugis language is more able to accommodate the expressions of the younger generation in Bulukumba Regency.

This research identified and described the figurative language found in five selected John Mayer songs with broken heart themes. The method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive method. Based on the analysis, hyperbole dominates in this study. Songwriters use hyperbole in the song lyrics to emphasize to the listeners what the songwriter wanted to say or what he'd done in his life, the writer used hyperbole to represent his feelings and to express what he wants to say. John Mayer''s selected songs contain meanings beyond the sentence or figurative language. 31 sentences use figurative language in the song lyric, hyperbole is the most dominant type of figurative language that appears in this song because it is used to emphasize a situation or condition for special effects. The use of hyperbole is what then makes the pieces very beautiful and meaningful as it is known that hyperbole is used to strengthen the impression by exaggerating, this is what then gives a strong impression on some of the song lyrics.

This thesis studies projection in the complex clauses which are found in Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet dialogue. The aims of this study are (1) to find out the types of projection in Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet dialogue, and (2) to find out the realization of projections in Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet dialogue based on the data that have been analyzed in line with the theory of projection. The data of this study were clause complexes found in Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet dialogue. This research is conducted by using a descriptive qualitative approach. The data are analyzed by using the Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL) theory. The result shows that in (1) In Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet dialogue, four types of projection were found, there were 55 clauses complexes of projection. Of the four types of projection that occurred, the highest number of occurrences is Paratactic Locution for 40 clauses (72,7%), followed by Hypotactic Locution for 8 clauses (14,5%), Paratactic Idea for 5 clauses (9,1%), and 2 clauses (3,7%) of Hypotactic Idea. (2) The realization of projection in Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet dialogue in terms of verbal locutions and mental ideas. The verbal locution consists of 40 clause complexes for Paratactic Locution, and 8 clause complexes for Hypotactic Locution whereas the mental idea consists of 5 clause complexes for Hypotactic Idea and, 2 complex clauses for Paratactic Idea.
