Improving Information Systems Interoperability and Flexibility Using a Semantic Integration Approach 利用语义集成方法提高信息系统的互操作性和灵活性

Current enterprise service bus solutions suffer a scalability constraint connected with the needed number of managed service interfaces. To address this issue, we propose a semantic layer to reduce complexity of service orchestration and data integration processes. By endowing ESB solutions with the semantic layer and its related core semantic services, we introduce uniform interfaces for managed services and give an implementation perspective for improving information-systems interoperability through a semantic service bus middleware.

Hearing Images: Interactive Sonification Interface for Images 听觉图像:图像的交互式超声界面

This paper describes research into methods for interactive sonification of 2D image data. The method utilizes an existing device (from computer game), Nintendopsilas wiimote controller to provide a means of interaction with 2D images for the exploration and triggering of sonic response. This paper details a selection of sonification algorithms which have been designed to provide auditory display of image structure through sonification of parameters which signify the users exploration within a segmented image environment.

Automatic Alignment of Music Performances with Scores Aimed at Educational Applications 自动对准音乐表演与分数旨在教育应用

We present a system for automatic real time alignment of an acoustic music performance with a digital representation of its score, a problem which is usually defined score following. The alignment is based on an application of hidden Markov models. A model is automatically built from a music score, while decoding is used to compute the most probable location of the performance along the score model. The effectiveness of the proposed approach has been tested with a collection of recordings of orchestral music. Even if the typical application of a score following system is automatic accompaniment, in this paper we propose a set of novel applications that are targeted also to non musicians, for educational use.

Elastic Consistency in Decentralized Distributed Virtual Environments 分布式虚拟环境中的弹性一致性

Distributed virtual environments like online games or 3D virtual worlds have become very popular in the last few years and a more substantial surge in popularity and use is expected. Because of the huge number of users, such environments will undergo a change of infrastructure from a centralized to a decentralized one, making higher demands on consistency issues. This paper addresses consistency problems which may occur in distributed virtual environments and introduces the elastic consistency model to tackle these problems. According to elastic consistency, different consistency levels setting up a trade-off between consistency and responsiveness of the environment should be introduced in order to provide an efficient way of interaction on a global scale.

Requirements and Approaches for a Content Management Service 内容管理服务的需求和方法

The contribution describes enhancements to a content management in order to enable it for ASP (application service provision) operation. The first section lists up the most important requirements that an ASP-based content management has to fulfill. The approaches described next are focused on the delivery and the storage of essences, because this is one of the most sensitive and important parts of a content management system. The essence delivery functionality of the system has been enhanced in respect to high availability, automatic fail-over, load balancing and localized delivery. For each of these terms a solution has been developed and tested.

New Services for iTVP Content Providers to Manage Live and On-Demand Content Streaming iTVP内容提供商管理直播和点播内容流的新服务

The basic task of a CDN is content distribution from content provider to end users. In addition, there are a number of services that should be available to the content provider for managing live and on-demand content streaming. The goal is to make the program offer more attractive, which is what users expect, and to implement features such as personalized ad insertion, which may be not exactly what users want. In this paper we describe our approach to providing a set of such services that surround CDN on our iTVP platform as a work in progress. We characterize various iTVP components that cooperate with the CDN and provide information on the principles of their cooperation. The components of interest include virtual channel broadcast system, advertisement insertion system and content access analysis system.

Generic Music Identification by Hierarchic Modeling of Human Perception 基于人类感知层次模型的通用音乐识别

To date, there are no systems that can identify music, neither audio nor midi, in a generic way. That is, for the countless possible occurrences of a certain song, it should be possible to associate them with only one generic description of that song. In this paper we describe a conceptual design for generic music identification. Therefore, we propose a hierarchy of elementary music descriptions and introduce the concept of generic perceptual musical patterns. To prove the designed model, it is implemented for symbolic music files.

AXMEDIS has provided an innovative framework with a wide range of tools for cross-media content processing, production and multi-channel distribution. This paper focuses on one of the key sections of the framework, the Programme and Publication (P&P) tools, which include the P&P Engine and P&P Editor, providing a focal point for multi-channel distribution. The P&P Editor is an integrated GUI environment where users can search for contents and specify their distribution details (e.g. transmission channel, date and time), the so-called P&P Programme. Once a P&P Programme is created and activated, the contents can be processed and delivered automatically, as defined by the P&P programme. Additionally, end users/consumers may also query contents on-demand via the P&P Engine. This paper provides an overall view of the P&P tools and presents two demonstrators to illustrate the P&P toolspsila capabilities.

The i-Maestro project (www.I-maestro.org) has been supported by the EC IST 6th Framework Programme to develop interactive multimedia environments for technology enhanced music education. Building on recent innovations resulting from the development of computer and information technologies, the project explores novel solutions for music training in both theory and performance, and exploits new pedagogical paradigms with cooperative and interactive self-learning environments, gesture interfaces, and augmented instruments. This paper presents a brief overview of the project, together with some highlights of selected tools.
