Data-aided algorithms for coherent optic receivers are discussed as an extension of existing non-data aided methods. The concept presents a scalable approach with low implementation complexity and limited overhead for higher-order modulation formats.

Strong bandwidth-enhancement effect in high-speed GaAs/AlGaAs based uni-traveling carrier photodiode under small photocurrent and zero-bias operation 基于GaAs/AlGaAs的高速单行载流子光电二极管在小光电流和零偏置下的强带宽增强效应

Strong bandwidth-enhancement has been observed in GaAs/AlGaAs UTC-PD under small-output-photocurrent (0.4 mA) and zero-bias operation. Equivalent-circuit-modeling results indicate that such effect is due to self-induced-field inside absorption layer, which benefits devices' high-speed performance under zero-power-consumption operation.

Rib waveguides in Ge0.2Se0.8 films are fabricated by the direct write of electron beams. Numerical analysis shows that bend loss decreases with electron beam exposure count for constant bend radius.

We present a comparison between an in-held and an in-laboratory 50 km ultralong erbium-doped fiber lasers operating in active mode-locking regime. The results show better performance of the in-laboratory laser with pulses from 36.1 to 97.3 ps with repetition rate from 1 to 10 GHz.

Microwave Photonics techniques are applied to functional near IR (fNIR) imaging systems, where absorption and scattering parameters of tissue is extracted using multi-wavelength spectroscopy. Clinical applications of fNIR systems to anesthesia and wound healing are also discussed.

We demonstrate a 10 Gb/s symmetrical WDM-PON exploiting a cross seeding scheme to enable wavelength reusing. It avoids reflection-induced penalties, and effectively removes any extinction-ratio constraint by means of DPSK modulation format in the downlink.
