Comparison of Mini Mental Score Examination, Quantitative Electroencephalography and Cerebrospinal Fluid Biomarkers in Clinical Practice Examining Dementia 迷你精神评分检查、定量脑电图和脑脊液生物标志物在痴呆临床诊断中的比较

Background: A new method to measure the cholinergic status with quantitative electroencephalography (qEEG) to distinguish healthy from early dementia patients and identify responders of Acetylcholinesterase inhibitor treatment. The objective is to evaluate cognition via Mini Mental Score Examination (MMSE) at baseline and follow-up examination after approximately 2 years for patients with suspected dementia and comparison with the predictive baseline values for (qEEG) and Cerebro-spinal fluid (Csf) biomarkers. If qEEG predicts the cognitive decline best, a noninvasive and inexpensive method is offering the possibility to start Acetylcholinesterase inhibitor treatment early in the dementia disease course. Methods: The average power of four qEEG epochs with eyes closed (E.Cl.) and open eyes (E.O.), and the ratio of E.O. / E.Cl. (Vigilance-index), and average peak frequency of E.Cl. epochs, calculated. The Csf parameters; total-Tau, phospho-Tau, and Amyloid β-42 analyzed. The correlation between the number of pathological MMSE-scores and pathological values of baseline biomarkers evaluated. Results: The Spearman rank correlation between MMSE revealed no linear relation for the examined biomarkers. When comparison of pathological values for MMSE at follow up after approximately 2 years the sensitivity to identify from the baseline values for qEEG and Csf biomarkers, found Vigilanceindex to have the highest sensitivity (1.0) then total-Tau (0.5) and the rest parameters lower, lowest for the combination of Csf parameters (0,09) to predict cognitive decline. The specificity for the baseline Vigilance-index was (0.87) and for total-Tau (0.39) and lower for the other parameters at the follow-up examination. Conclusion: Vigilance-index best reflects the cognitive decline after two years in early dementia disease, by measuring cholinergic deficit, compared to Csf biomarkers to measure total-Tau, phospho-Tau, and Amyloid β-42.

The Effect of Mindfulness and Wisdom as Intervention to Deal with Collage Students' Internet Addiction 正念与智慧干预对大学生网络成瘾的影响

Internet addiction is a problematic behavior characterized by excessive use of the Internet. It is common among college students and to harm to their academic performance, thus it has aroused the public attention in recent two decades. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of mindfulness and wisdom intervention on college students’ Internet addiction. Samples were screened with the Internet Addiction Test (IAT). The participants were asked to complete the IAT before the intervention, and they must obtain at least 31 points in IAT to meet diagnostic criteria of Internet addiction. Students’ interview data were collected and analyzed after these students attended the 9 days’ intensive mindfulness meditation practice and learned the Zen wisdom. In this study, a qualitative research method and the semi-structure interview were used to investigate changes in the participants after the intervention. The finding showed that mindfulness and wisdom intervention appeared to be effective approach as they can significantly reduce students’ Internet addiction, improve students’ self-awareness, self-control, concentration, sleeping quality and duration, thus helping them develop a more positive lifestyle.

Cultural-Dialogic Interdeterminist Metaperspective for Mental Health and Well-Being 心理健康和幸福的文化对话相互决定主义元视角

The static, fragmentary nature of the existing approaches to the mental health and wellbeing problems, which cannot grasp the dynamic, nonlinear, and heterogeneous nature of changes in the external natural and social environment, is stated. Author's attempt to extend the problem of this problem field vision horizons offers cultural-dialogic interdeterminist metatheory of psychological knowledge integration. Based on the determinist and indeterminist directions of scientific thought analysis is proved the epistemological heuristic potential of the cultural-dialogic interdeterminist approach. For this task solution was introduced epistemological construct “cultural-dialogic interdeterminism” allowed to analyze phenomenology in the context of quality, acquired by the whole and not reducible to the simple sum of its constituent parts. It articulated the necessity of mental health and wellbeing phenomenology multidimensional consideration in the spaces of hetero qualitative natures, psychic spheres and behavioral determinants in their cultural conditionality and qualitative specificity. This phenomenology is viewed from the heterogeneous dynamic systems approach standpoint. Theoretical and empirical explanations and evidence of cultural-dialogical interdeterminist metatheoretical approach innovativeness for the analyzed phenomenology understanding deepening is presented.

The Multiple Repetition Method for Childhood Trauma Treatment: Two Case Studies 多次重复法治疗儿童创伤:两个案例研究

This article discusses treatment of childhood trauma using the Multiple Repetition Method (MRM) in order to overcome a crisis situation. The Multiple Repetition Method is an innovative and effective alternative treatment of trauma, crisis situations, psychological crisis, and stress. The method is based on the energy-information approach according to which release of the negative emotional charge associated with the trauma leads to a re-processing of information about the traumatic event, a new understanding in a current crisis situation, a more productive behavior, and personal growth.

Safety Issues in Young Chinese Overseas Students: A Canadian Case Study 中国留学生的安全问题:以加拿大为例

China has the largest number of international students in the world, accounting for 25% of all international students. Canada is one of the four major destination countries where Chinese parents send their children for education. According to the China Counsel General, the number of Chinese overseas students in BC was 50,000 in 2017. With the increasing numbers of Chinese overseas students, serious incidents involving the students have also increased. More than 31 deaths of overseas students have occurred around the world in the last year. Among them, Yu Lin Hai died by suicide in Richmond, BC in 2017. Safety has now become a salient issue among Chinese overseas students. The purpose of this study is to investigate the case of Yu, a 17-year-old student, in the context of international student safety. As part of the case study design, seven interviews were conducted with field observations. Newspaper reports were collected and the analysis of data and interpretations were co-created with the participants. The discussion included potential psycho-socio-cultural influences. Ultimately, the question is: Was Yu’s death a suicide or a murder? Recommendations are made for overseas students to carefully weigh their decision-making, overseas preparations, prior knowledge and coping skills; safety education; and consider possible culture shock and cultural adjustments. The rapid response to incidents, and support from the government, school, community, and family also need to be considered.

Mindfulness in Holistic Management of Schizophrenia 精神分裂症整体管理中的正念

Mindfulness based intervention (MBI) has been found to promote well-being by reducing symptoms of stress and non-reactivity to experience. It has been found to facilitate post-traumatic growth and enhance vigour while relieving fatigue. It can contribute effectively to apathy and self-awareness. Schizophrenia patients suffer from lack of motivation, apathy, boredom and social isolation to name a few. Holistic management of schizophrenia refers to management of quality of life for schizophrenia patients in its totality. This includes stable accommodation, healthy relationship, education, training, employment, social inclusion, integration with the community and entertainment etc. As mindfulness helps gain control over mind and regulate emotions, it can be helpful to alleviate some of the symptoms of schizophrenia patients. This study identifies the issues in holistic management of schizophrenia and investigates how mindfulness based intervention can contribute to them effectively. In the introduction section we have explored the implication and importance of holistic management of schizophrenia and features of mindfulness. In method section, we have investigated the various issues and symptoms of holistic management of schizophrenia and how mindfulness based intervention can address them. In discussion, we have reviewed research studies associated with mindfulness for schizophrenia patients and identified the scope of further work for mindfulness to be meaningful for schizophrenia patients.

Schizophrenia patients suffer from lack of motivation, apathy, boredom and social isolation to name a few. Holistic management of schizophrenia refers to management of quality of life for schizophrenia patients in its totality. This includes stable accommodation, healthy relationship, education, training, employment, social inclusion, integration with the community and entertainment etc. As mindfulness helps gain control over mind and regulate emotions, it can be helpful to alleviate some of the symptoms of schizophrenia patients. This study identifies the issues in holistic management of schizophrenia and investigates how mindfulness based intervention can contribute to them effectively. In the introduction section we have explored the implication and importance of holistic management of schizophrenia and features of mindfulness. In method section, we have investigated the various issues and symptoms of holistic management of schizophrenia and how mindfulness based intervention can address them. Background: Caregivers of Alzheimer’s disease patients are usually subject to a variety of psychological, physical and economic burdens, due to the substantial time and energy required for this task. This study investigates the effect of socio-demographic factors on the depression of Saudi caregivers of Alzheimer’s patients and the role of social support in diminishing such depression and increasing life satisfaction. Methods: A cross-sectional study was performed based on a questionnaire involving 154 Saudi caregivers for Alzheimer’s patients. Respondents were distributed across different age groups, gender, income levels and educational backgrounds. Results: Analysis revealed that depression caused by caregiving is higher in male caregivers than females. Caregivers who had higher economic status, i.e., earned a higher income, were more depressed. Younger caregivers were more depressed than older ones. Analysis showed that support from family, friends and significant others is vital for caregivers’ satisfaction in life. Caregivers with better life satisfaction are less depressed. Conclusions: This study showed that depression arising from caregiving to Alzheimer’s patients was significantly influenced by socio-demographic factors, especially gender, economic income and age of caregivers. Another important point drawn from this study was that social support from family members, friends, neighbors, and an especially significant other can improve the caregiver’s life satisfaction.

The Effectiveness of Early Intensive Intervention in Modifying the Frequency of Repetitive Behavior for Children with ASD in Egypt 早期强化干预对改善埃及ASD儿童重复行为频率的效果

The present study aims to test the effectiveness of an integrated training program for early intervention based on Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) to improve some of the repetitive behavior patterns (stereotyped behavior, self-harm behavior, compulsive behavior, ritual behavior, sameness behavior, unrestricted behavior) among a sample of children with autism. It uses an experimental approach, with experimental and control groups (N = 17 for each group) and three-time interval assessments (pre, post and follow-up). The study uses several assessments such as the Goddard Measure of Intelligence, a Socio-economic Status Form (Abo Hamza & Helal, 2013), and the Stereotyped Behavior Scale (RBS-R) [1]. Statistical analysis has been performed using the Pearson correlation, and Chi-square, Mann- Whitney, Eta-squared and Z tests for each time assessment from the two groups to identify interaction effects. Results indicate that the intervention program has a positive effect on modifying the stereotyped behavior patterns in both post- and first follow-up assessment (after two weeks). However, the study shows no positive effect for the second follow-up assessment (after two months).
