Via a pictorial review, we will discuss the complex anatomy and important function of the kidney as it relates to urine formation and excretion. We will introduce the anatomy and function of the renal lobe and review the histology of the renal cortex and medulla, renal tubule, renal papilla, and renal pelvis. We will discuss renal filtration capacity and review the pathway of renal excretion through the ureters, urinary bladder, and urethra.

Myanmar faced unprecedented challenges during the tumultuous second wave of COVID-19 in September 2021, compounded by political upheaval following a coup. The healthcare infrastructure was severely compromised, and healthcare professionals faced persecution. This paper explores the pivotal role of telemedicine during these crisis-ridden times, using real-world experiences of patients navigating the dual crises.

Pleomorphic Rhabdomyosarcomas (PRMS) in adults are an exceptionally rare and aggressive soft-tissue tumor arising from undifferentiated mesenchymal cells. While more common in children, rhabdomyosarcomas in adults are associated with poorer outcomes and require immediate, aggressive intervention. Here we present a case of high-grade pleomorphic rhabdomyosarcoma of the left thigh in a 58-year-old male with metastases to the lungs and pelvis. Due to the limited diagnostic and treatment protocols of this rare disease and subtype, the goal of this case study is to highlight a comprehensive clinical approach to this disease.

Summary of 8 major physiological complications from diabetes. Each complication is discussed and the benefits from exercise that a patient with diabetes can get as a result in engaging in regular exercise is discussed for each one of the 8 complications. The eight areas of benefits from exercise are controllable heart rate and blood pressure, stabilized blood sugar, better healing of venous statis wounds, improved flexibility, Improved balance/proprioception, improved mental health, improved skin health, and decrease in body mass index.

A 53-year-old female patient was admitted to the hospital due to “occasional lower back pain, burning pain in urination, and bilateral kidney stones for 4 months”. After admission, she was diagnosed with urinary tract infection based on urine routine examination and received anti infection treatment with ceftazidime 2g Q12H.

Pregnancy may increase the risk of aortic dissection in young women genetically predisposed in the third trimester and the peri-partum period. This disease must be managed with emergency. Later, aortic familial diseases must be screened in the children by genetic tests, because of the high risk of rapid developing dissection or aneurysm in the childhood, whose management is challenging. We report the cases of a pregnant woman operated for aortic dissection, and her son operated four years later for aneurysm of the ascending aorta, and aortic insufficiency. Children with familial aortic root aneurysm may have intervention of valve sparing and aortic replacement if the aortic regurgitation is minimal. But, long-term clinical and echocardiographic follow-up is mandatory.

Background: Dementia is a chronic disorder which, mainly, affects people over 65 years old. It is estimated that it affects over 50.000.000 people around the world. Non- pharmacological strategies can play a vital role in dementia, considering that most of them are low-cost, safe and have no side effects.Psychoeducational programmes aim to inform the informal caregivers about dementia and its progress, and exercise has been showing positive effects in dementia. Their combination has been examined lately in a few studies in terms of enhancing the cognitive functions and quality of life for both patients and caregivers and decrease the unwanted behaviours.

Severe anemia as a pathological entity can be poorly managed with allogeneic blood transfusion if appropriate hematological diagnosis is not made. A ‘transfusion mentality’ that one solution (allogenic blood transfusion) fits all anemia can lead to poor outcomes and increases the risk associated with allogeneic blood transfusion. The case report emphasizes that all anemia must be diagnosed first to determine etiology and hence appropriate treatment. It also shows that not all anemia needs blood transfusion. Respecting patient’s wishes can be in the best interest of the patient and the physician.

The entire field of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic surgery is technically based on 3 elements, “Viability” of tissues; “Transfer” of tissues; and the extent of tissue defect or “Tension”. These were expressed in 3 mathematical formulas and rules. An updated “Definition “of the specialty has been suggested.
