Design theory for high-order incremental converters 高阶增量式变流器的设计理论

A/D converters used in instrumentation and measurements often require high absolute accuracy, including high linearity and negligible DC offset. The incremental (or integrating) converter provides a solution for such measurement applications, as it has all the advantages of the /spl Delta//spl Sigma/ (Delta-Sigma) converter, yet is capable of offset-free and accurate conversion. In this conference paper, theoretical and practical aspects of higher-order incremental converters are discussed. Operating principles, topologies and specialized digital filter design methods are addressed. The theoretical results are verified by showing design examples and simulation results.

Quantification of frame jitter in data acquisition systems 数据采集系统中帧抖动的量化

The paper develops an algorithm for the estimation of the standard deviation of the frame jitter associated with digital oscilloscopes and other data capture equipment. Frame jitter is considered as a special case of the more general timing jitter expressed in the frequency domain. An approximation is used that maps the standard deviation /spl sigma//sub f/ of the time domain jitter disturbance into the quadrature component of the recorded signal consisting of required information plus noise. /spl sigma//sub f/ is estimated from the statistical moments of the phase and quadrature components of the disturbed signal in a manner that minimizes the influence of additive noise on the estimation. The method has been demonstrated on an ultrasonic pulse-echo spectrometer that features relatively narrow bandwidth, low time domain resolution and significant additive noise. The obtained estimate of the standard deviation of the frame jitter was about four times lower than the sampling interval.

Dynamic intelligent agents are agents capable of intelligent behavior in any chosen dynamic environment. A new agent architecture is proposed, revising the classical concepts of system-environment relation, thus agents capable of "optimal" exploratory behavior and heterogeneous cooperation can be created. At first an overview is presented, followed by the description of a possible implementation tested on a set of microworld test cases. Finally conclusions are drawn concerning the effectiveness of the concept.

Hardware-software partitioning in embedded system design 嵌入式系统设计中的软硬件划分

One of the most crucial steps in the design of embedded systems is hardware-software partitioning, i.e. deciding which components of the system are implemented in hardware and which ones in software. Different versions of the partitioning problem are defined, corresponding to real-time systems, and cost-constrained systems, respectively. The authors provide a formal mathematic analysis of the complexity of the problems: it is proven that they are NP-hard in the general case, and some efficiently solvable special cases are also presented. An ILP (integer linear programming) based approach is presented that are solving the problem optimally even for quite big systems, and a genetic algorithm (GA) that finds near-optimal solutions for even larger systems. A specialty of the GA is that nonvalid individuals are also allowed, but punished by the fitness function.

Today 3D human face models have been widely used in applications such as face recognition, head tracking, facial expression recognition, human action recognition, video compression/coding and facial animation. Modeling human faces provides a potential solution to identifying faces with variations in illumination, pose, and facial expression. We propose a method of modeling human faces based on a generic MPEG-4 face model (a triangular mesh model) and individual facial characteristics containing both shape and texture information. The modeling method adapts a generic face model to the extracted facial features.

Evaluation method of computer input ability of patients with tetraplegia 四肢瘫痪患者计算机输入能力的评价方法

We describe a measurement and evaluation system of the computer input ability of patients with tetraplegia. We measure the position locus of the mouse cursor when a patient operates the computer using a computer input device such as a ball mouse, a trackball, and a touch pad. We analyze the position locus of mouse cursor in order to analyze the computer input ability of patients. Using this system, we can measure and evaluate the computer input ability of patients using various kinds of computer input devices, and then recommend the best computer input device for each patient. Based on the experiment result using this system, we developed a new computer input device for the patient with tetraplegia. It makes clear that the new computer input device is useful for the patient with tetralegia.

A new method of non-stationary signal analysis for control motor bearing fault diagnosis 一种控制电机轴承故障诊断的非平稳信号分析新方法

We present an equal phase sampling method (EPSM) based technique to diagnose nonstationary servomotor bearing faults. Conventional equal time sampling method (ETSM) is based on the time periodical feature of a constant rotating speed system. As the servomotor changes its rotating speed and direction frequently, it will loose its time periodical feature. However, it still keeps its space periodical feature. The new method of nonstationary signal analysis based on EPSM can eliminate the influence of rotating speed and direction changes. The mathematical simulation and experiment results prove that this method is very suitable and effective for servomotor bearing fault diagnosis.

An integrated neural concurrent system for pattern recognition: basic element 模式识别的集成神经并发系统:基本要素

The article outlines a methodology to automatically select a neural-based pattern classifier. A set of neural-based specialized pattern recognizers is generated, trained and successively it is automatically chosen, among them, one which has the "best" generalization capabilities according to a quality index, that does not require the use of any test set. Furthermore, it is illustrated the architecture of a basic element, based on the EaNet neural classifier, of a more complex framework that will be designed for concurrent pattern recognition in networked repositories of patterns. The effectiveness of the proposed approach has been tested as an example on the "NIST Special database 19" of handwritten characters images and it has also been verified using the traditional technique of the test set. For completeness, the methodology has been also tested using a traditional neural feed-forward classifier using sigmoids as activation function of its units belonging to the hidden layer. Experimental results show good performance of the proposed methodology.

Non-conventional processing of noisy signal in the adaptive control of hydraulic differential servo cylinders 液压差动伺服缸自适应控制中噪声信号的非常规处理

Hydraulic differential electric servo cylinders are strongly nonlinear, coupled multivariable electromechanical tools applicable for driving e.g. manipulators. The primary controllable physical agent in such systems is the time-derivative of the pressure of the working fluid in the appropriate chambers of the cylinder. Besides the nonlinearities of hydrodynamical origin discontinous ones described by the Stribeck model originate from the friction between the cylinder and the piston. This model contains the terms of the viscous, the static, and the adhesive contributions of friction. Whenever the velocity of the piston changes its sign alternating friction force of considerable amplitude appears. Such behavior means serious difficulty in feedback-based continuous path (CP) dynamic control whenever a nominal trajectory asymptotically approaching a zero velocity segment is needed: the system itself generates a noise-like acceleration signal to be used in the control. Since hydraulic drives have considerable advantages in comparison with electric ones it would be desirable to extend their application to dynamic CP control, too. For this purpose a special adaptive nonlinear control dealing with the system-generated noisy signals was elaborated. The method is rather based on a novel branch of soft computing slightly supported by a nonconventional noise filtering. The capabilities of the improved controller are illustrated via simulation.

The primary controllable physical agent in such systems is the time-derivative of the pressure of the working fluid in the appropriate chambers of the cylinder. Besides the nonlinearities of hydrodynamical origin discontinous ones described by the Stribeck model originate from the friction between the cylinder and the piston. This model contains the terms of the viscous, the static, and the adhesive contributions of friction. Whenever the velocity of the piston changes its sign alternating friction force of considerable amplitude appears. Such behavior means serious difficulty in feedback-based continuous path (CP) dynamic control whenever a nominal trajectory asymptotically approaching a zero velocity segment is needed: the system itself generates a noise-like acceleration signal to be used in the control. Fuzzy classification of image pixels 图像像素的模糊分类

We present a neuro-fuzzy approach for classification of image pixels into three classes: contour, regular or texture points. Exploiting the processing capabilities of a neural network, fuzzy classification rules are derived by learning from data and applied to classify pixels in grey-level images. To derive a proper set of training data, the spatial properties of the image features and a multiscaled representation of images are considered. The effectiveness of the proposed approach is illustrated on some sample images.
