We demonstrate the potential of Vertical-Aligned Spatial Light Modulators in adaptive-optics visual simulators. The induction and correction of low and high order aberrations was evaluated by testing visual acuity and contrast sensitivity in healthy subjects.

DNA-ligand interactions are dominated by electrostatics as DNA is a highly charged molecule at physiological conditions. Here, we present a FRET-based sensor which can optically report on these interactions between DNA and charged ligands.

2-stage cascade AO (CAO) systems enable to improve wavefront correction for high-contrast exoplanet imaging. However, 1st stage residuals entering the 2nd stage exhibit see-saw high-frequency oscillations. We propose a compensation procedure which turns the CAO into a woofer-tweeter configuration, thus significantly improving overall performance.
