Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to explore the impact that entrepreneurship education can have on entrepreneurial outcomes by the graduates from ZCAS University. The author aimed to investigate the perceived influence that various entrepreneurship education courses have had on a cohort of 76 graduates from the University’s School of Business that were pesuing Bachlor’s degree in Business Administration, Bachelor’s degree in Entrepreneusrhip, bachelor’s degree in Economics and Finance, bachelor’s degree in Accountaning. Methodology: A questionnaire with semi‐structured, in‐depth interviews was administered to 75 responsents via google forms. Findings and results indicate that entrepreneurship education is slowly having an impact on graduate entrepreneurship intentions as a progressive number of graduates accounting for 33% engaged themselves in entrepreneurship which ultimately has the potential to create jobs and and have a positive impact on economic development. Findings: The findings provide valuable insights for educators, policy makers and graduate entrepreneurs. Stakeholders such as government, local authorities and sponsors/parents could use this study to make better choices in relation to the education of future graduate entrepreneurs. The study therefore recommends among others inclusion of significant course content on entrepreneurship and investment in non-business and management related programmes of study. Unique Contribution to theory, practice and policy: This study provides an empirically rigorous insight into a relatively neglected area of entrepreneurship education research. It provides valuable data for stakeholders involved in both the supply and the demand side of the entrepreneurship education process. Purpose: This study examined the relationship between corporate entrepreneurship and firm performance of construction companies in Port Harcourt. Competitive aggressiveness and autonomy were used as proxies for corporate entrepreneurship as independent variables while firm performance was proxied with productivity and delivery performance as dependent variables. Methodology: Four hypotheses guided the study which adopted a cross-sectional research design with purposive sampling technique used to select a sample size of 130 general managers, marketing managers, human resource managers and project managers in 26 construction companies in Port Harcourt registered with the FINELIB Nigeria Business Directory. Structured questionnaire was used to collect primary data and the responses were collated on a five-point Likert scale. The data were analysed using descriptive statistics, and the hypotheses were evaluated using the Spearman Rank Correlation Coefficient with SPSS version 23.0. Findings: The findings showed that corporate entrepreneurship had a strong and significant relationship with firm performance of construction companies in Port Harcourt.  In particular, competitive aggressiveness and autonomy had strong and positive linear associations with both productivity and delivery performance when tested at 0.05 level of confidence. It concluded therefore that it is important that construction companies in Port Harcourt should adopt corporate entrepreneurship in the areas of competitive aggressiveness and autonomy in order to improve their performance. Unique Contribution to Theory, Policy and Practice: It is recommended that construction companies in Port Harcourt should compete aggressively and improve upon the autonomy in their decision-making if they are to achieve higher levels of firm performance

Pub Date : 2024-01-31 DOI: 10.47941/jepm.1653
Charles Muiruri Wanjau, Gregory Namusonge, B. Lango
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the influence of project team planning on the performance of housing projects in Kenya. Methodology: The study applied mixed methods research design. The study target population was 675 strategic registered contractors in the housing projects in Nairobi metropolitan, Kenya.  Based on Yamane Formula adopted the sample size for this study was 251 respondents. Purposive sampling was used to select the 251 from the list of 675 contractors.  The respondents consisted of the project managers; engineers; architects; contractors; and the site supervisors. The study used both primary and secondary data using semi structured questionnaires and interview guides. The study used SPSS version 25 software to analyze the data where both descriptive and inferential analyses were obtained. Results: The inferential analysis results revealed that project team planning had a significant and positive influence on the performance of housing projects in Kenya at p<0.05. This indicates that project team skills, project team experience, communication plan and project team efficacy are vital in the performance of housing projects.  The study used analysis of variance to determine whether the model is significant and shows the good fit for the data. The Coefficient of determination R2 of 0.513 showed that 51.3% of housing project performance is explained by project team planning. Unique contribution to theory, practice and policy: While the existing competency theory used in this study was validated, the study recommends that contractors in Kenya should consider project team planning as an important aspect in housing projects as has been observed by majority of the contractors. The study recommends the government to make appropriate policies in housing implementation in the ministry of housing which promote the establishment of comprehensive project teams that include experts in various domains such as architecture, engineering, finance, and project management.

Entrepreneurial Orientation Factors of University Graduates in the Cameroonian Context : The Case of the Far North.

Godom André
Purpose : The objective of this study is to determine the entrepreneurial orientation factors of young university graduates in Cameroon, in a context where businesses evolve in an unstable, unpredictable environment. Methodology : To achieve this objective, an analysis was carried out on exploratory survey data collected from 198 university-educated entrepreneurs in the Far North region of Cameroon, using chi-square independence tests between variables such as gender, education and age to confirm their impact on the orientation of entrepreneurial specialization. Findings : The results of this study showed that only gender and entrepreneurial education appear as factors in entrepreneurial orientation in the present study. While for men, there seems to be no limit to engaging in a particular activity, women do not have this flexibility, as they find it easier to orientate themselves in activities such as trade, hairdressing and catering, but not in activities such as butchery and banking. Unique contribution to theory, practice and policy : Given that the study also shows that, thanks to training, young entrepreneurs have the flexibility to operate in all sectors of activity, particularly those requiring specific knowledge such as health services, it is therefore recommended that Cameroonian public authorities step up the promotion of entrepreneurship training to encourage young people to become self-employed.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to establish the influence of entrepreneurial networking skills on growth of small and medium plastic manufacturing enterprises in Nigeria. Methodology: Mixed methods research design was applied by the study. The study target population was 18,476 plastics manufacturing SMEs in LAGOS State, Nigeria. Based on Yamane Formula adopted the sample size for this study was 397 respondents. Random sampling was used to select the 392 plastics manufacturing SMEs. The study therefore randomly selected 392 plastics manufacturing SMEs from a list of total lists of these is 18476 plastics manufacturing SMEs in LAGOS State, Nigeria. The managing director/CEO of these enterprises were the main respondents therefore the study administered 392 questionnaires. The study used semi structured questionnaires to collect primary data. The study used SPSS version 27 software to analyse the data. Both descriptive and inferential analyses were carried out. Results: The inferential analysis results revealed that entrepreneurial networking skills had a significant and positive influence on the growth of small and medium plastic manufacturing enterprises in Nigeria at p<0.05. This indicates that strategic question asking, ability to get referrals and value adding skills are crucial drivers of growth of small and medium plastic manufacturing enterprises. The Coefficient of determination R2 of 0.470 showed that 47.0% of Growth of SMEs is explained by entrepreneurial financial skills. The R value for the model was 0.686 and the R2 was 0.470. This was a sign that the model was appropriate for establishing the link between entrepreneurial networking skills and the growth of small and medium plastic manufacturing enterprises and, as a result, for drawing the conclusions and suggestions from the study.   Unique contribution to theory, practice and policy: While the existing Social network entrepreneurship theory used in this study was validated, the study recommends that SMEs in Nigeria should form quality networking which will enable them to create social communities shared by stakeholders such as customers, suppliers, other enterprises. According to the study, policymakers and state regulatory organizations should take the lead in formulating favourable legislation and policies that will provide friendly operating environment to enhance the growth of SMEs.
