Assessment of genetic diversity for terminal heat tolerance in bread wheat (Triticum aestivum L. em. Thell.) under very late sown condition 评估极晚播条件下面包小麦(Triticum aestivum L. em. Thell.)末期耐热性的遗传多样性

Heat stress in wheat bears very high significance in realsing yield potential of a genotype. Terminal heat stress in particular affects the wheat yields considerably. Keeping this in view the present investigation was carried out with 32 diverse genotypes of bread wheat in completely randomized block design with 3 replications at G.B. Pant University of agriculture & Technology, Pantnagar for studying the genetic diversity for terminal heat stress tolerance under very late sown condition. The observations were recorded on 16 agronomic traits and 3 physiological traits. The statistical analysis for genetic divergence wasdoneusingMahalanobis-D 2 statisticsandclusteringofgenotypeswasdoneusingTochermethod.On the basis of genetic diversity analysis, it was found that grain yield/plot and minimum by CTD-IV. Clustering of genotypes revealed that cluster-III had maximum number of genotype followed by cluster-I,cluster-II,cluster-IV,cluster-Vandcluster-VI.Thehighestinter-clusterdistancewasobservedbetween cluster-IV and VI while lowest inter-cluster distance was observed between cluster-I and II. The highest intra-cluster distance was observed in cluster-III revealing maximum genetic divergence among its constituents while lowest intra-cluster distance was observed in cluster-VI. The five genotypes were found tolerant to heat stress. The genotypes bearing desired values from different clusters can beexploited in future breeding programme for improving the yield and physiological traits under very late sown condition for mitigating the threat of terminal heat stress in bread wheat.

Influence of herbicides on yield and yield parameters of groundnut in rice-groundnut system under coastal zone of Karnataka 除草剂对卡纳塔克邦沿海地区水稻-花生系统中花生产量和产量参数的影响

A field experiment was conducted at Agricultural Research Station, Kumta, Uttar Kannada district of University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad to know the impact of herbicide on yield and yield parameters of groundnut in rice-fallow groundnut system. A field experiment was layout in a RCBD design having nine treatments with three replications. The results concluded that, significantly higher number of pods per plant (14.4), pod weight per plant (12.4 g), sound matured kernel (79.2%) and test weight (33.1 g) and kernel yield (1294 kg ha -1 ) was observed in application of pendimethalin 30% E.C. @ 1.5 kg ha -1 fb one hand weeding at 25 DAS and however on par with T 6 : pendimethalin 30% E.C. @ 1.5 kg ha -1 fb quizalofop-p-ethyl 5% E.C. @ 50 g ha -1 20-30 DAS . Whereas, significantly lower number of pods per plant (8.1) and pod weight per plant (8.1 g), sound matured kernel (74.8%), test weight (28.5 g) and kernel yield (777 kg ha -1 ) was observed in un-weeded plot.
