The article considers the issue of translation of scientific and technical texts as the main direction of educational activity. The definition of the concept of “technical translation” is given, the types of technical translation are listed and characterized, and the features of the translation of scientific texts are highlighted.

This article is devoted to the analysis of the peculiarities of the translation of the names of some well-known foreign brands, in particular the ways of their translation. Translation of a foreign brand should be understandable, memorable and attractive to the consumer. There are many ways to achieve high-quality translation. The foreign brand names that we reviewed were translated into Chinese by transliteration, adaptation, literal and free translation.

In this article, the authors consider some aspects of teaching the Japanese language in an unnatural language environment, using the example of the philological faculty of Nizhny Novgorod State University. The article summarizes the experience of a native Japanese teacher, notes both the positive aspects (creating the conditions of the language environment) and the difficulties that participants in the educational process encounter (relevance of the content of educational materials; level of students' independence in learning). In addition, one of the authors notes the fact that the Japanese language teaching methodology shows tendencies towards the widespread use of IT technologies, as well as online educational platforms for the development, primarily, of students' communication skills.

The article discusses the features of creative approaches in the translation of poems by G. Benn, one of the prominent representatives of German expressionism. The author analyzes the poem “Negerbraut” from the signature cycle “Morgue” and its two translations made by V. Toporov and V. Mikushevich. Preliminary conclusions are drawn on the adequacy of translation decisions when translating poems by this author.

We present a mixed classification of German euphemisms based on the analysis and synthesis of previous classifications based on the material of English, German and Russian languages and abstraction and unification of the revealed linguistic facts. The presented classification distinguishes between lexical-semantic (with 8 types), morphological (with 4 types) and complex (2 types) methods of euphemisms formation.
