In postmodern times of emphasized fluidification, individualism and cosmopolitanism, mobility becomes self-evident and naturalized, yet socially desirable and anticipated. Therefore it is valuable to use ethnography to look at individual experiences. They are young, educated, and mobile, pursuing their dreams and goals while living in big cities: Poles and other (not only) European citizens who maintain transnational long-distance relationships create perfectly suitable representatives of the category of ‘privileged mobility’. This article is based on ethnographic fieldwork I conducted in 2016–2018, and it employs an auto-ethnographic perspective in order to examine the notion of privilege (Amit 2007), with its borders and limitations, through the analytical lens of mobility. The article puts forward the perspective of my research participants and thus provides a detailed portrait of the researched group, in order to show how mobility is rooted in their everyday lives and how privileged they really are. I argue that mobility, defined as one of the most stratifying factors (Bourdieu 1984), can be applied as a mirror that reflects position in the social strata. In this specific ethnographic context, spatial mobility can be seen as a useful tool, which exposes social and individual dimensions of being privileged while living in transnational long-distance relationships

The main objective of the paper is to recreate a strategy to deal with the stigma in the daily lives of Muslim women who decided to move permanently to Poland, and Polish women who decided to convert to Islam. The subject of the research is Muslim women who live in Poland and participated in biographical interviews. According to the interviews, an image of Muslim women based on what they themselves think was reconstructed. Their methods of dealing with everyday situations, which these women face in the country in which they live, and confl icts with their families of origin, are presented. In Poland, as shown by opinion polls, people originating from Muslim countries are perceived negatively. As a result, immigrants from these regions who stay in our country are stigmatised as the other, diff erent, hostile and dangerous to the society. This is the result of commonly shared negative stereotypes. A very similar fate is experienced by Polish women who have converted to Islam. Living with stigma forces those stigmatised to adopt strategies that allow them to operate in a foreign country. This situation is particularly oppressive for Muslim women, who on the one hand must deal with the stigma they carry due to their otherness in the host country, while on the other hand must follow tradition and constraints imposed by the religion and culture in which they were raised. Muslim clothing allows fast and easy categorization. Women wearing hijabs are easily identifi ed, and because of it possible stereotypes and prejudices are activated.

Problem badawczy przedstawiony w artykule ma doniosłe znaczenie w filozoficznej debacie o człowieku, a jego niejednoznaczność i wielowymiarowość prowokuje do zadawania coraz to nowych pytań. Sfera „pomiędzy” posiada rozmaite implikacje zarówno w wymiarze indywidualnym, jak i społecznym, a rozpatrywana pod kątem konstytuowania się międzyosobowej relacji odsyła do problemu wolności, odpowiedzialności, wzajemności. Dlatego celem niniejszych analiz staje się próba odpowiedzi na pytanie o status, rolę oraz funkcje, jakie pełni „pomiędzy” w przestrzeni międzyludzkich obcowań i odniesień. Martin Buber ukazuje „pomiędzy” w pierwotnym skręcie relacji istnień, Józef Tischner umiejscawia je w samym centrum filozofii dramatu, który zawsze rozgrywa się między danym Ja i Ty, a Hanna Arendt niejako dopełnia ich analizy pod kątem wagi uwspólnotowienia, jakie dzięki „pomiędzy” może się dokonać w sferze publicznej. Dokonana analiza trzech filozoficznych perspektyw pozwala postawić tezę, że sfera „pomiędzy” odgrywa kluczową rolę w unaocznianiu specyfiki relacji, odsłania w pewien sposób jej rdzeń, ale też prowadzi do jeszcze głębszego wydobycia podmiotowości Ja i Ty.

Objective: The study aims to determine the extent to which political and economic risks have affected the tourism industry and the economy in Nigeria. Prior Work: In recent times, there has been a clamour for the development of the Nigerian tourism industry but such has been beset by a spate of religious intolerance, insurgency, and changes in government, among others. There seems to be dearth of literature and empirical evidence to show the extent to which political risk has influenced tourism in Nigeria. Approach: Time series secondary data from the World Travel and Tourism Council, 2017 were used in the regression analysis. Regression statistical technique was used to examine the relationship between political and economic risk and tourism in Nigeria specifically between 2006 and 2017. Results: The study adopted a regression approach and found out that causality exists and there is a positive significant relationship between political and economic risk in Nigeria. Implication: The result of the relationship shows that political and economic risk have effects on tourism, and tourism has a significant impact on the economy. The significant effect of political and economic risk on tourism calls for adequate security in the country, and better legal and institutional frameworks. This will enhance the economic impact of tourism on the Nigerian economy.

Based on an analysis of the American Lifenaut research project, I attempt to capture immortality created today as a network of relationships among human and non‑human factors. Lifenaut was established in 2006 as a pioneering project in the field of creating posthumous digital avatars. The users involved in the experiment gather data on the www.lifenaut.com platform to retain their personality in a digitized form after biological death. Part of my work is reconstructive – I describe the assumptions of the American project and the main concepts associated with it, such as “mindclone”, “mindfiles” and “mindware”. In the second part I present the results of my own avatar creation experiment and confront them with the sociological perspective of symbolic interactionism (G.H. Mead, H. Blumer) and relational sociology (B. Latour).
