Magnetic Pulse Stabilization of the Geometry of Prefabricated Products 预制产品几何形状的磁脉冲稳定

The results of research on the stabilization of the geometric dimensions of large hull blocks obtained using welded joints are presented. The connection between the change in the construction geometry and the modes of strengthening by vibration effects caused by controlled electromagnetic pulses with the imposition of an electric field is shown. The ways of controlling multiple mechanical impulses to strengthen the surface layer and equalize the internal stresses of the mating parts are shown, which allows reducing errors after welding. Developed methodology for designing a combined technological process for pulse stabilization of the geometry of workpieces.

A Set of Shaking Table Model Tests of Seismic Hydrodynamic Pressure on Bridge Pier with Submerged Depth 沉深桥墩地震动水压力的一套振动台模型试验

A set of shaking table model tests of hydrodynamic pressures on bridge piers are presented in this paper. Five models made of Perspex and concrete with rectangular, elliptical and variable sections are built, and fixed in a steel tank on shaking table with 0.9 m to 1.6 m water, respectively. The seismic hydrodynamic pressures observed at 4/7/8 submerged depths from two level inputs of ground motions and two direction combinations show that the representative values per unit area increase with submerged depth obviously, the increasing rate is generally faster than those by the two classical assumptions at shallow depth, but slower at deep depth.

A great number of unique wide-span structures have been built in Russia in recent years. More than 30 new stadiums and covered arenas have been or are being built for the 2014 Winter Olympics and the 2018 Football World Cup. The most interesting of these are briefly described below. The objects were designed, manufactured and erected with the participation of TsNIISK.

Climatic Conditions and Experience of Operation of Port Facilities on Sakhalin Island 库页岛港口设施的气候条件和运行经验

The article provides an analysis of the operating conditions of port facilities in heavy hydrometeorological conditions on the coast of Sakhalin Island to establish durability characteristics for the development of design life models. Typical types of concrete destruction in the zone of variable level are considered. The directions of research in the field of forecasting the durability of concrete and reinforced concrete structures for seaport facilities on actual durability characteristics are outlined.

Evaluation of Crack Potency in the Bituminous Concrete using Fracture Mechanics Parameters 用断裂力学参数评价沥青混凝土裂缝强度

Fatigue cracking is very critical among all types of distresses in pavements once the fatigue crack start in pavement it led to fast pavement deterioration and thus reduced the life of pavement and quality of riding on pavement. Thus, to control such distress it is necessary to understand the mechanics behind such crack initiation and propagation and to find the fracture parameters to choose best mixture to resist the failure. There are various methods to understand the fracture properties of the bituminous concrete (BC) mix. This paper describes the semi-circular bending test for BC mix, which was designed to be very effective, and user friendly. This method is adopted because it simulates the field conditions and its availability. Semi-circular samples of forty-eight were prepared out of which half was made of unmodified bitumen and the rest were made of plastic modified bitumen. These all samples were then tested at different loading rates and value of load at each deflection is measured. Two fracture parameters like fracture energy and stress intensity factor are evaluated. The plastic modified bituminous concrete shows that the value of energy is increased 2 to 3 times than the unmodified bituminous concrete at intermediate temperature. Hence, plastic modified bituminous concrete has the greater cracking resistance potential.

Parking Demand for Elementary & Secondary Schools in Jordan 约旦中小学的停车需求

This study aimed at investigating parking demand at elementary and secondary schools in Irbid city; the second largest city in Jordan, to identify the main influencing factors, and develop models to predict future demand based on local conditions. The major considered factors included school area, number of students, number of teachers, number of classrooms, gender of students, education level (elementary, secondary), and school ownership (public, private). A total of 118 different types of schools were surveyed from different areas in Irbid City. The required field data were collected on regular weekdays by field surveys and manual counting for the total number of parked vehicles and the variation during the schools working hours, while schools descriptive information’s were obtained from the directorate of education in Irbid city. Peak demand models for different types of schools were developed using multiple linear regression analysis by SPSS software. The results of the study showed that the main affecting factors on school parking demand include the total number of students, classrooms, and teachers. However, more focus was given to the number of students due to collinearity among these main independent variables and to be consistent with the international practice.

Vienna University of Economics (WU), which is one of the largest universities in Europe, currently has about 23,000 students and approximately 1,500 teachers. WU has opened a new campus in 2013. Studio which was selected for the development of the site plan was chosen on the basis of the competition for Austrian and German architects in 2007. The following year, an international competition was announced for individual buildings of the campus. What does the realization of this plan looks like? Was it possible to build this campus quite near the center of Vienna? Where does this incredible number of students fit? How do they live and study there? Is it possible for a total of six teams of architects from around the world to design a campus of the future together? What is the transport solution for such a complex? How to study and how to live in the space created like this? What is the public space of this campus about? These and other questions will be answered from the architect’s point of view as well as from the perspective as an ordinary visitor of this interesting area.

The Selection of Suitable Boundary Conditions for Finite Element Simulations of Deep Tunnels 深埋隧道有限元模拟中边界条件的选择

In finite element simulations of deep tunnels an appropriate selection of the boundary conditions at the border of the model is important. Commonly, a system with vertically and horizontally fixed boundaries is used for finite element calculations of deep tunnels. In the contribution the shortcomings of this assumption will be explained and the requirements to the model size, which should be considered for this type of boundary conditions, are discussed. An alternative approach is also presented, which is derived from a commonly used approach for c and has been adapted to deep tunnels.

The needs for the growing and aging population, increased urbanization, and sustainability goals are all challenging the cities and suburban areas in different ways. As a result, administrators are dealing with the effects of traffic congestion, under-utilized public transit systems, limited funds, and increased problems with environmental impacts. Even if still emerging, many regard mobility as a Service (MaaS) to be an approach that could help authorities develop transport services and reduce some of the problems facing the system. However, several factors are being involved in MaaS that should be considered for specific regions with specific features. This article is the author’s opinion regarding the application of MaaS in the region of Florida, United States.
