Sounds perceived through bone-conduction stereo headphones incline toward the frontal center, comparing to the perceived direction through air-conduction stereo headphones. We previously developed a compensation method to address the above issue. This method compensates for the above difference in the form of streaming process. For this study, we implemented this method as a computer program with MATLAB and conducted a hearing experiment to evaluate its performance. It performed well in real time on a consumer-grade PC, and the shift in perceived sound direction was compensated. This is useful for the headphone amplifiers of bone-conduction headphones.

In this paper, a novel QoE (Quality of Experience) optimization mechanism is proposed for the coexistence between LTE and WiFi networks, where traffic offloading is enabled from LTE to WiFi. Firstly, the throughput models of LTE and WiFi are analyzed, respectively. And then the users' satisfaction function is introduced to measure QoE. An optimal problem that maximizing the QoE of LTE network with guaranteeing the QoE of WiFi network, is formulated and solved by transformation and simplification. Simulation results indicate that traffic offloading can greatly improve the QoE of LTE network.

Since Taiwan is a small and overcrowded island, the advance of ICT technology promotes the development of quality agriculture. In this paper, we transfer the commercial aquaponic system to the home / urban one. That is, this paper not only adjusts the ratio of fish and plants, but also reduces food miles and carbon emission. The main goal is keeping self-sustaining. According to our experimental results, the number of fish can be reduced from 30 to 15, and the number of planted plants is increased from 20 to 30. The plant harvest has a 50% increment.

In this paper, we propose a calculation method of degree for detecting regions of various data indication in first-person view videos. In recent years, contents of augmented reality (AR) have been implemented due to advances in computer hardware and interface. By indicating the data on road user's view, intelligent transport systems (ITS) is enhanced. However, since the user's view includes a lot of visually important information which the user should perceive, for indicating the data on the user's view, it is necessary to detect regions that do not include the information. In our method, degree as criteria is obtained based on seam carving and saliency map model. By utilizing the degree, it is possible to adaptively detect the regions of the data indication from different viewpoints. Experimental results show the effectiveness of our method.

This research realizes the manipulation of curving leaves in our VR Ikebana simulation. We have been experimenting with various VR Ikebana simulation which are realized in virtual space. We focus on the most commonly used among the three styles of Ikebana works in Ikebana Ikenobo which is (free-style) Jiyuka. It is the most flexible in arranging flowers which needs various kinds of manipulation to perform variety of works such as curving and fixing leaves. In our example, Ikebana work consisting of two sunflowers, long thin leaves and purple crowded flowers are investigated to realize the simulation.

We here propose a novel MAC instead of DCF, SMTC/CI (Semi-synchronous Multiple Transmission Control / Collision Inference), which achieves high fairness and throughputs by inducing effective parallel transmissions with frame capture effect. The radio interference could disturb high-quality communications with fairness, because of the spreading of mobile wireless LANs such as mobile router and tethering nodes. Hence, we need an innovative MAC considering interference among wireless LANs. Frame capture effect is the key factor in order to improve quality of communications in dense wireless LANs. SMTC/CI consults history of frame transmissions in order to infer the effective collisions due to frame capture effect, then maintain superior synchronous transmissions. As a result of our simulation, throughput is improved up to 112% compared with conventional MAC.

This study extends our noise suppression method using a microphone array to a case where a target and two noise sources are in the same direction. Four microphones are arranged to focus the target sound and their outputs are converted into a spatio-temporal sound pressure distribution image. The two-dimensional fast Fourier transform (2D FFT) spectral components of the target are localized as direct current (DC) components along the spatial axis. Meanwhile, the 2D-FFT components of noise signals are spread into the target spectrum. Based on the spread spectrum, the DC components of the noises are estimated in every temporal frame and subtracted from the target spectrum. Computational experiment indicates that the noise is suppressed by approximately 20 dB when the two noise sources are located farther than the target source.

A heterojunction-Schottky diode has a low forward-voltage drop and a fast switching feature. Therefore, in this paper, the drain side heavily doped region was removed and equivalently added a heterojunction device in 60 V n/pLDMOS devices, and evaluating its ability of ESD immunity. From the TLP measure result, the optimized secondary breakdown current of nLDMOS can be increased from 2.35 A to 3.85 A (improved 63.8%); the optimized secondary breakdown current of pLDMOS can be increased from 0.78 A to 2.83 A (improved 263%). It can be found that from removing the drain-side heavily doped region in LDMOS, LDMOS devices are equivalent with a large series heterojunction device, they are indeed very effective in improving the ESD reliability of n/pLDMOS devices.

As energy consumption of network systems grow, it is important for network administrators to monitor the power consumption of ICT devices connected to the network. Conventional monitoring of these devices burdens the administrators because they have to install power measurement tools on each device. In this paper, we propose a method to estimate power consumption of ICT devices utilizing only network traffic information. Our method can reduce the administrator's burdens because it only requires network traffic information that can be collected from a router or switch.
