A multi-layer optimal chiller operation management framework 一种多层优化制冷机运行管理框架

This work targets on the chiller plant operation management for a large campus building cooling load. In this paper a multi-layer optimal chiller operation management framework is proposed to operate various chiller units to meet the system cooling load while reduce the system operation cost. The first layer is the day-ahead 24-hour chiller operation planning layer which optimizes multiple chiller sequencing and chillers loading. The second real-time dispatching layer effectively addresses load forecasting uncertainties in real-time. The load uncertainty is solved hierarchically through two steps of approaches. An efficient and accurate system modeling framework for optimization is formulated with mixed-integer linear expressions to reduce the computational complexity. The effectiveness of this proposed management framework is demonstrated for an actual chiller plant operation in university campus. Simulation analyses validate that the proposed method can effectively address various levels of forecast uncertainty and reduce the operation cost.

An intercell busbar topology to improve resilience to anomalies of copper electrorefining process 一种电池间母线拓扑结构,以提高铜电精炼过程的异常弹性

In copper electrorefining, the process anomalies have a great impact in the current efficiency and productivity. Short circuits produce nodules in copper cathodes, impaired contacts elevate the current density dispersion, and open contacts result in blank cathodes and over currents around the anomalies. This work presents an intercell topology composed by a busbar, a capping board and secondary connectors placed on top. Resilience to anomalies is improving by reducing the occurrence and fast recovery from outlasting anomalies. The addition of a secondary connector, the spatial arrangement and the light bulk mass of the connectors enlighten the location of the remaining anomalies in 1 minute. Finite element method modeling predicts the performance of the process innovation for Current Source and Voltage Source intercell busbars.

Short-circuit current calculations of a harbor electrical distribution system with shore power connection 带岸电连接的港口配电系统短路电流计算

Shore power connection, a practice whereby shore-side electrical power is provided to vessels at berth in a port, is set to play a major role in shaping the future energy requirements of the commercial shipping industry. Short circuit level compatibility of systems is a problem when a ship power system is connected to a shore electrical distribution system. A method that is able to evaluate the shore-side and ship-side impedances and determine the prospective short circuit current level is essential. This paper aims at presenting a methodology for calculating the short circuit current in the shore power connection system. Two analysis models: IEC std. 61363-1 and IEC std. 60909-0 combined with IEC std. 60909-0 are developed and used in this paper for short circuit current analysis. Performance of the proposed method is validated by short circuit current calculation results gathered from several visiting ship scenarios in a practical shore power connection system. The proposed method can provide engineers with useful information about the prospective magnitude of short circuit currents, as well as on the effect of shore supply on ship power system, to assist them in ensuring short circuit level compatibility and allowing the selection and setting of protective devices.

An efficient method for small-signal stability assessment of P − ƒ/Q − V̇ droop control in an isolated micro-grid 孤立微电网P−f /Q−V ̄下垂控制的小信号稳定性评估方法

An efficient method for small-signal stability assessment of P - f/Q - V̇ droop control methods for multiple converters in an isolated micro-grid (MG) is proposed in this paper. A MG model described with arbitrary number of converters is explored first. If there are more number of converters in a chosen MG, only dominant eigenvalues related to droop control are of primary interest. Therefore, constructing a reduced-order model to speed up the small-signal stability assessment becomes necessary. By extending the previous work of MG with P - f/Q - V droop control, a reduced-order model of MG with P - f/Q - V̇ droop control is investigated under mild assumptions. Such a simplified model will facilitate to compute the poles and zeros of the closed-loop systems and provide more physical insight to examine the relationship between dominant eigenvalues and each droop control gain. As the mathematical analysis of conventional P - f/Q - V droop control provides the characteristic polynomials contributed by P - f and Q - V droop controls, the P - f/Q - V̇ droop control also provides a similar characteristic polynomials contributed by P - f and Q - V̇ droop controls. These characteristic polynomials of the system helps MG operators for better tuning of each droop gain for stable operation of MG. A detailed study of actual plant model and the reduced-order plant model are investigated. Both simulation and experimental results are presented to validate the proposed method.

High Performance oxide thin-film transistor for large-screen, high-resolution organic light-emitting diode display 用于大屏幕、高分辨率有机发光二极管显示的高性能氧化薄膜晶体管

This paper describes our recent progress in fabrication technologies for back-channel-etched (BCE) and self-aligned (SA) oxide thin-film transistors (TFTs). These structures enable shorter channel length and smaller parasitic capacitance than conventional etching-stopper (ES) structures, and are effective to realize large-screen, high-resolution organic light-emitting diode (OLED) displays that require high speed driving TFTs. It is important to reduce the damage to the back-channel region during the TFT fabrication process to achieve BCE oxide TFTs with good switching behavior. We have developed high-mobility BCE In-W-Zn-O (IWZO) TFTs using a bi-layer structure. Furthermore, SA In-Ga-Zn-O (IGZO) oxide TFTs have been developed using backside excimer laser irradiation, which selectively reduces the resistance of the IGZO film using a gate electrode as a mask. We present the properties of the IGZO film irradiated with excimer laser light and demonstrate that the source and drain regions can be formed in accordance with the position of the gate electrode.

Resolution-level MPPT controller for PMG-based wind energy conversion systems 基于pmg的风能转换系统的分辨率级MPPT控制器

This paper presents the development and performance evaluation of a maximum power point tracking (MPPT) controller for direct-drive, variable-speed, permanent magnet generator (PMG)-based wind energy conversion systems (WECSs). The developed MPPT controller is designed to vary the resolution-level, J, of the wavelet modulation technique used to operate the generator-side 3φ ac-dc power electronic converter (PEC). The variations of J are created by two angles, θI and θO. The angle θI is defined to map the changes on the input side, while the angle θO is defined to map the changes on the output side of a 3φ wavelet modulated (WM) ac-dc PEC. The resolution-level MPPT is implemented for performance evaluation on a 3.6 kW PMG-based WECS when operated in grid-connection. Test results show good accuracy and dynamic responses, along with minor sensitivity to the variations in system parameters and levels of power delivery to the grid.

Advancement in battery technology: A state-of-the-art review 电池技术的进步:最新的回顾

Environmental issues and greenhouse gas emissions, concerns of generating electricity by burning fossil fuel, and recent increase in energy price, the number of Plug-in Electric Vehicles (PEVs) has been rising in recent years and will continue to grow. Modern electric power system at the same time is gradually evolving into a smarter grid with two-way flow of information and electricity between demand and supply. Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) is considered to be an integral part and one of the most promising ideas to achieve this concept. It can provide a variety of applications for solving issues such as intermittency of wind and solar. The upward trends of PEVs and BESSs have made battery technology a key factor. Many research facilities and manufactures are working on developing the better battery for such applications. Lithium-ion type of battery is considered to be one of the most promising technology. Much has been written about the BESS, but there is not a comprehensive paper that deals with the application of battery. This paper hopes to close the gap between various technologies and application considerations.

A comparative study on Vibration- and current-based approaches for drivetrain gearbox fault diagnosis 基于振动和电流的传动系统齿轮箱故障诊断方法的比较研究

Gearboxes are widely used in rotary machines, such as wind turbines, automobiles, and helicopters. Failures of gearboxes contribute to a significant portion of the total failures and downtime in these machines. Gearbox fault diagnosis is an effective means to prevent catastrophic failures, improve the reliability, and reduce the downtime and maintenance cost of these machines. Vibration-based approaches have been employed in most commercially available condition monitoring systems (CMSs); while current-based approaches have received increasing attentions in the industry and academia. This paper presents a comparative study on the vibration- and current-based approaches for gearbox fault diagnosis. Theoretical analysis and experimental tests are carried out to show that: in vibration signals, ghost frequencies appear when the gearbox is healthy and disappear when a gear fault occurs; vibration signals of a faulty gearbox are modulated by shaft rotating frequencies at gear meshing frequencies (GMFs); in current signals, the fundamental frequency component is dominant when the gearbox is healthy; and current signals are modulated by gearbox characteristic frequencies at the fundamental frequency when gear faults appear.

Analysis, design, and implementation of closed loop control of electrolytic capacitor-less six-pulse DC link inverter 无电解电容六脉冲直流链路逆变器闭环控制的分析、设计与实现

Three-phase inverters in UPS, electric vehicles or hybrid electric vehicles use dc link electrolytic capacitor to establish an intermediate dc link, which has reliability issues and is one prominent cause of inverter failure. Large volume of electrolytic capacitor increases size and cost of the system. Recent research on electrolytic capacitorless inverter using six pulse modulation (SPM) technique along with high frequency power conversion has tried to address this issue. In this paper, closed loop operation of an electrolytic capacitorless inverter is presented. A 1kW laboratory prototype has been built and tested under different loading conditions to verify the proposed analysis and implemented control system.

Modified p-q theory based control of solar PV integrated UPQC-S 基于改进p-q理论的太阳能光伏集成UPQC-S控制

This paper proposes a modified p-q theory based control of solar photovoltaic array integrated unified power quality conditioner (PV-UPQC-S). The fundamental frequency positive sequence (FFPS) voltages are extracted using generalized cascaded delay signal cancellation (GCDSC) which is used in p-q theory based control to generate reference grid currents for the shunt compensator. The solar PV (SPV) array integrated at the DC-bus of the UPQC, provides a part of active load power. The series VSC operates such that it shares a part of the reactive power of the load even under nominal grid conditions. The dynamic performance of proposed system is verified by simulating it in Matlab-Simulink using a combination of linear and non-linear load.
