The Effect of Endurance Training in Combination with Curcumin on Intratumoral Gene Expression of AngiomiR-126 and Angiopoietin-1 in Female Mice with Breast Cancer 耐力训练联合姜黄素对雌性乳腺癌小鼠瘤内血管成形素-126和血管生成素-1基因表达的影响

Background & objectives: Breast cancer is one of the most common diseases and the leading cause of death among women worldwide. The aim of the present study was to determine the effects of five weeks of endurance training in combination with curcumin on the cancer progression, intratumoral gene expression of angiomiR-126 and Angiopoietin-1 in breast cancer bearing female BALB/c mice. Methods: The present study was an experimental study. 4T1 breast cancer was transplanted into forty female BALB/c mice. Afterward, they were randomly divided into four groups including, a control group (C), an endurance training group (E), an endurance training along with curcumin (EC) and curcumin group (CC). E and EC groups performed 40 min at a constant running intensity corresponding to 60-65% vVo2peak at 0% inclination, 5 weeks (five days a week). CC and EC groups were treated by oral gavage with curcumin for five weeks (six days a week). Then, tumor tissue of all mice was extracted 24 hour after the last training session. Gene expression levels of miR-126 and angiopoietin-1 were determined by qRealtime PCR. Statistical data values were also measured by One-way ANOVA. Results: The results showed a significant inhibition of cancer growth, increased gene expression of miR-126 (p<0.001) and decreased angiopoietin-1 gene expression (p<0.001) in E, CC, and especially E-C compared to control group. All of these changes were significantly greater in the EC group than in the other intervention groups (p<0.001). Conclusion: It seems that five weeks of endurance training with curcumin supplementation possibly have a further effect on decreasing breast cancer mass growth by inhibiting miR-126 /angiopoietin-1 axis compared to other interventions alone.

Nasal Hump Reduction may Improve Dorsal Nasal (Rintala) Flap 鼻峰缩小可改善鼻背(鼻缘)皮瓣

Introduction: Skin defect reconstruction following tumor resection, is a challenge for surgeons. Nose as a key point of aesthetics has a significant role in this scenario. One of the practical approaches is dorsal nasal flap (Rintala) to cover lower 1/3 nasal defects. The disadvantages of this method are limitation to reach lower areas, especially nose tip, flap ischemia and wound dehiscence. Case report: A 47 years old man with supratip BCC lesion underwent tumor resection and prepared for dorsal nasal flap reconstructive surgery, in which dorsal hump resection caused relaxed flap transfer and ultimately more acceptable profile view. Conclusion: Advancement of the dorsal nasal flap more distally can be achieved by dorsal hump reduction in selected patients, which makes patients more satisfied with their new nasal form and appearance and reduces the risk of distal flap ischemia.

Identification of Single Nucleotide Changes in Genes Associated to Muscle Hypertrophy and Strength in an Elite Weightlifter Using Whole Exome Sequencing: A Case Report 使用全外显子组测序鉴定优秀举重运动员肌肉肥大和力量相关基因的单核苷酸变化:一个病例报告

Background & objectives: Over the last couple of decades, research has focused on attempting to understand the genetic influence on sports performance. Whole exome sequencing (WES) has great potential to explore all possible genetic variants associated with physical performance. However, this new technique has not been used in sports genetics research. Therefore the aim of this case study was to report new variants in genes involved in skeletal muscles strength (ACE, NOS3, IGF1R, IL-6) in an elite weightlifter using WES. Methods: After obtaining a written testimony from a 32-year-old man, who is a member of the Iranian national weightlifting team, 5 cc of blood was taken and then DNA was extracted. DNA samples were analyzed using the whole exome sequencing method. Results: Whole exome sequencing analysis revealed a missense variant (99454613G>A) in IGF1R, 22771156C>T polymorphism in IL-6, 150695726T>C and 150704250C>G polymorphisms in NOS3 and 61573761T>C and 61564052A>G in ACE genes. Conclusion: Results of whole exome sequencing analysis revealed a missense variant and polymorphism in muscle strength and hypertrophy related genes in this elite weightlifter. However, other studies with larger sample sizes are needed to investigate the relationship between these variants and power athlete status.

Investigating the Relationship between Social Capital and Demographic Characteristics of the Elderly Referred to Tehran Neighborhoods 德黑兰社区老年人社会资本与人口特征的关系研究

Introduction & objectives: Aging is a period of life that is affected by the deprivation of social activities, lifestyle, and life satisfaction. Social capital plays a key role in the social, economic and health dimensions of individuals. Therefore, this study examines the relationship between social capital and demographic characteristics of the elderly who referred to the houses in the neighborhoods of Tehran in 2018. Methods: The present study is a cross-sectional, descriptive study. Elderly people aged 60 years and older referring to the neighborhoods of Tehran was selected by a multi-stage sampling method. Data collection tools included the Demographic Information Questionnaire and the Onyx Social Capital Questionnaire. Data were analyzed using SPSS-21 software and both descriptive and inferential statistics. The significance level of the test was considered p≤0. 05. Results: The mean score of the elderly's social capital was 80.15 ±14.89. Although the score of women's social capital (81.86) was higher than men. There was no significant statistical relationship between the numerical indicators of social capital and gender. Conclusion: The results of the study showed that a significant percentage of the elderly have the desired social capital. Therefore, the results of this study can be used to promote the health of the elderly referring to the neighborhood houses with respect to positive aspects of "social capital" and realize of the concept of "healthy and active aging".

Synergistic Effects of Aerobic Training and Momordica Charantia L. on Serum Lipocalins in Men with Type 2 Diabetes 有氧训练和苦瓜对2型糖尿病患者血清脂钙素的协同作用

Background & objectives: Lipocalin family proteins, have been identified as adipokines associated with obesity, type 2 diabetes (T2D) and the metabolic syndrome. Exercise training and active compounds of plants have potency as antidiabetic that can be used for treating T2D. We have evaluated the effect of exercise training and Momordica chianti L . on Retinol binding protein-4(RBP4), Fatty acid binding proteins-4 (FABP4) and Lipocalin-2 (LCN2) in Men with T2D. Methods: In this clinical trial study, 36 T2D men in Tehran were selected and randomly divided into four groups (control, M. charantia , training and M. charantia +training). The training groups participated in a progressive aerobic training for eight weeks, three sessions per week (40% to 70% of the reserved heart rate for 15 to 45 min). The groups of M. charantia and M. charantia +training received 2000 mg of M. charantia for eight weeks (twice a day before breakfast and dinner). Two days before and after the protocol, blood samples were taken in fasting state. Data were analyzed using Independent t test and ANOVA at p <0.05. Results : The results showed that the RBP4, FABP4 and LCN2 decreased significantly in the experimental groups ( p <0.0001). Also, RBP4, FABP4 and LCN2 levels were significantly decreased in the M. charantia+ training group compared to training and M. charantia groups ( p <0.05). Conclusions : Aerobic training and M. charantia may decrease inflammation in T2D patients by decreasing lipocalins. Furthermore, aerobic training along with M. charantia had a better effect.

Background & objectives: The use of controlled hypotension is important to reduce bleeding in some surgeries. This study aimed to determine the effects of dexmedetomidine (DEX) and labetalol for induced hypotension in maxillofacial fractures surgery. Methods: In this triple-blind randomized controlled clinical trial study, the patients with maxillofacial fractures were randomly divided into two groups: group 1. Dexmedetomidine (DEX) (bolus dose: 1μg/kg and maintenance dose: 0.3-0.5 μg/kg/h) and group 2. Labetalol (bolus dose: 0.3mg/kg and maintenance dose: 0.2-0.5 mg/kg/h). The patient's hemodynamic indices (including heart rate (HR), systolic blood pressure (SBP), diastolic blood pressure (DBP), and mean arterial pressure (MAP) were recorded at various surgical intervals. Finally, the surgeon's satisfaction (from 1-6 points) was evaluated. Data were analyzed using SPSS 19 software. Results: The MAP, SBP, and DBP were significantly higher in the DEX group than the Labetalol group especially at 30 and 90 minutes after the bolus. The mean HR was significantly lower in the DEX group than Labetalol during the recovery period. The surgeon's satisfaction in the Labetalol group was significantly higher than the DEX group. Conclusion: Based on the results, labetalol offers a better hemodynamics conditions than DEX during surgery and also lead to greater overall surgeon satisfaction.

Background & objectives: Foxo1 is a transcription factor in insulin signaling in the liver. The function of Foxo1 is important in the ability of insulin to regulate hepatic glucose production and glucose homeostasis. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of resistance training program on Foxo1 expression in liver cells as well as glucose and insulin serum levels in male Wistar rats with type 2 diabetes. Methods: The statistical population of this experimental study was 10-weeks old, male Wistar rats weighing 220±20 g (n=14). The studied rats were subjected to 6 weeks of high-fat diet and STZ injection for type 2 diabetes induction and then rats were randomly divided into two groups (control and resistance). The training group participated in a resistance training course for 6 weeks, 5 sessions per week, in the form of 4 sets and 5 repetitions per set, climbing a 26step ladder to a height of one meter with a vertical slope of 80%. Finally, 48 hours after the last training session, fasting blood glucose and insulin levels as well as Foxo1 expression level in liver cells of both groups were measured and compared by independent t-test (=%5). Results: The resistance training improved fasting blood glucose compared to control subjects (p<0.001). The serum insulin levels were significantly increased (p=0.042) and Foxo1 expression significantly decreased in resistance group when compared with control subjects (p=0.023). Conclusion: Based on these data, the decrease in glucose concentration in the exercise group can probably be attributed to the decreased expression of Foxo1 in hepatocyte cells in response to resistance training.

The Effect of Moderate-Intensity Endurance Training on the Expression Level of Angiogenesis Factors and Cardiac Oxidative Stress in Rats 中等强度耐力训练对大鼠血管生成因子表达及心脏氧化应激的影响

Background & Objectives: Based on the probably positive role of exercise on total oxidative status (TOS) and total antioxidant system (TAS) and their effect on the process of angiogenesis, the aim of the current study was to evaluate the effect of one course of moderate-intensity endurance training on the gene expression level of vascular endothelial growth factor-B (VEGF-B) and angiopoietin-1(ANGPT-1) and TAS and TOS status in cardiac tissue of male rats. Methods: In this study, 20 male Wistar rats were divided into two equal groups as follows: 1-training group and 2control group: no sports activities were performed on them. Rats in the training group performed moderate endurance training for 6 weeks and 5 sessions per week from the twelfth week of life. Twenty-four hours after the last training session, heart tissue samples were extracted to measure gene expression levels of VEGF-B and ANGPT-1 and the TAS and TOS status in heart tissues. T-test with the statistical level of (p˂0.05) was used for between groups comparison. Results: Findings showed that after six weeks of endurance training, the expression level of ANGPT-1 and VEGF-B and the amount of TAS in the exercise group significantly increased (p=0.001) and the amount of TOS significantly decreased compared to the control group (p=0.008). Conclusion: According to the results of the present study, it seems that moderate-intensity endurance training can be effective in preventing cardiovascular disease by increasing factors involving in angiogenesis, improving TAS and reducing TOS in heart tissue of rats.

Background & objectives: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is one of the most common diseases in the elderly. Elderly people with this disease have many problems, as sleep disorders, that can cause many complications such as falls, depression, memory disorders, irritability, fatigue, difficulty concentrating and dementia. The aim of this study was to determine the severity of insomnia in elderly patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Methods: This is a cross-sectional, descriptive study that was performed on 170 elderly people with COPD referred to Hazrat Rasoul Akram Hospital in Tehran. The research instruments were short form of cognitive test and demographic characteristics, insomnia severity questionnaire. Data analysis was performed in SPSS software (V.16), using Pearson and Spearman correlation test, one-way ANOVA, independent t-test, logistic regression analysis and Tukey post hoc analysis. Results: The mean and standard deviation of insomnia in the elderly were found to be 14.4±5.6 which indicated moderate insomnia. Factors such as gender, marital status, patient's occupation, history of sleep disorders, and history of hypnotic drugs use and duration of COPD were the variables that were significantly associated with patients' insomnia. (p<0.001) Conclusion: Insomnia disorder in the elderly will have adverse consequences. Hence the control of effective factors in these patients can improve their health and quality of life.

Morphometric Analysis of Offspring Ovary in Mice Following Oxaliplatin Treatment during Perinatal Period Using Stereology Technique 应用体视学技术对奥沙利铂治疗围产期小鼠后代卵巢的形态计量学分析

Background & objectives: Oxaliplatin is a third-generation of platinum drug which is the main therapeutic agent for the treatment of colorectal cancer. Oxaliplatin not only inhibits DNA replication but also transcription and also induces apoptosis or necrosis in cancer cells and rapidly dividing cell lines. Although it is widely used clinically, there is no enough information regarding its effect on ovarian structure. This study was designed to determine morphometric features of 30and 60-day-old offspring ovaries using precise and unbiased stereological technique following administration of oxaliplatin during perinatal period in mice. Methods: In the present experimental study, 32 adult female mice were used for experimental (pre-pregnant, pregnant and lactation) and control groups. Mice were placed in separate cages for mating. Control group received 0.2 ml saline intraperitoneally (IP) during 21 days of prepregnancy, pregnancy and lactation periods. Experimental groups including pre-pregnancy, pregnancy and lactation groups received 3 mg/kg oxaliplatin thrice in a week IP during 21 days before mating, during pregnancy and lactation periods, respectively. At the 30th and 60th postnatal days (PND), the offspring were euthanized and the ovaries from eight offspring in each group were collected for stereological analysis. Results: The results showed that the mean volume oocytes of antral and preantral follicles and also the mean volume of antral follicles were decreased in experimental groups in comparison with the control group in 30 PND offspring (p<0.05). In 60 PND, offspring, the total volume of follicles, mean volume of antral follicles and also mean volume of oocyte of antral follicles in experimental groups showed significant decrease in comparison with the control group (p<0.05). Total volume of ovary, cortical volume and mean volume of preantral follicles decreased in pregnant experimental group compared to control group (p<0.05). Conclusion: The present results demonstrated that oxaliplatin induces adverse effect on the morphometrical features of the ovary following administration during the perinatal period especially in pregnancy time.

In 60 PND, offspring, the total volume of follicles, mean volume of antral follicles and also mean volume of oocyte of antral follicles in experimental groups showed significant decrease in comparison with the control group (p<0.05). Total volume of ovary, cortical volume and mean volume of preantral follicles decreased in pregnant experimental group compared to control group (p<0.05).
