For better supporting to evaluate the hazardous area affected by the slope failures and landslides, we have been tackled to construct the supporting system(termed SSE-Win) for the slope stability evaluation with the userfriendly Graphical User Interface(GUI) based on the window system. In the SSE-Win, the geographical information and satellite remote sensing data were used to produce the slope stability evaluation maps. In the general design of the GUI, the functions corresponding to the operating procedure in the SSE-Win were investigated. As the next stage of the detail design of the GUI, we designed the link-relation between the screens as well as the contents in each screen. The standardized procedure on the GUI design provided in this study might be contribute not only to the reduction of the entire term on the system development, but also to improve the efficiency of the system life-cycle in modifying and adding the further functions.

Until now, for studying the efficiency of dissemination of disaster information, we have been developing the simulation model. Based on the simulation model, we built the general-purpose system that has made it possible for users to efficiently study dissemination of disaster information the process used, and the scenario for transmitting information. This simulation system makes it possible to express the situation in which information is transmitted using various media. This system uses GUI to simplify operations for general users. And updating and adding new features to this system is very easy.

In spite of the widespread use of the Internet, its potential for facilitating public involvement in urban planning projects has not yet been exploited. In this paper, the possibilities and limitations of integrating GIS, CG and the WWW for facilitating the public involvement in urban landscape evaluation are discussed. It is proposed that off-the-shelf 2D GIS and 3D CAD software can be efficiently used for creating virtual urban spaces representing alternative landscape designs. The problems of synthesizing and publishing these data on the WWW are discussed, and a case study of evaluating the landscape of a public park is used to show the usefulness of the proposed approach.

【Abstract】 An information protocol should be constructed immediately in order to flow the information efficiently in the design process by using the international standards. In the present paper, the practical detailed design process of steel highway bridges in Japan is surveyed, and the flow chart of the process is constructed. Then, IDEFO is used for the definition of the processes. And, the information flowing in the processes is formalized. The informations of the processes are classified and arranged, in the form of common I/O data files. Next, the information model for the processes is defined by using IDEF1X. By using the process models of IDEFO and the information model of IDEF1X, the As-is model is constructed.

[ABSTRACT] For the purpose of knowledge discovery, we evaluated average compressed entropies for a case-base virtually constructed through some inferences with the inference system that we proposed for selecting the retrofitting method. It is found from the analyses that the average compressed entropy is an effective measure for the discovery of knowledge that is implicitly buried into dada-bases or case-bases.
