Three-dimensional CAD and CG, which make use of advanced computer technology, has lately attracted considerable attention. Also attracting attention is photogrammetric technology to acquire three-dimensional coordinate data from two-dimensional image data recorded by digital cameras. Photographing and the determination of measuring points are more difficult even for experts in ground photogrammetry, for which the demand is increasing, as compared with the same tasks in aerial photogrammetry which is used for the preparation of maps and so on. Accordingly it takes enormous labor and time to obtain accurate three-dimensional coordinate data by ground photogrammetry and, therefore, it has hardly been put to practical use yet. Under the circumstances, the object of the present study was to develop a system which enables us, without requiring expensive apparatuses or expertise, to create 3D model spaces easily and quickly just by taking two-dimensional digital photographs.

【Abstract】 The authors examined an application of parametric curves used as spatial curves to highway alignment. Both of centrifugal acceleration and its rate of increase while driving the highway alignment designed by several kinds of parametric curve were compared. As a result of the examination, it was shown that cubic B-spline curves are applicable to the case of highgrade of alignment design and quadratic B-spline curves are applicable to the case of low-grade of alignment design.

【Abstract】 3D-Product Data Models (PDMs) have been constructed to standardize the electronic information over life cycle of steel highway bridges by using STEP/AP203. There are no browsers to represent AP203 data. In the present paper, 3D-PDMs are visualized by using VRML. A translator between AP203 and VRML was developed with respect to shape information of steel highway bridge members. This translator was developed for exchanging and sharing the design information of bridges using AP203 and for visualizing the PDMs using VRML.

【Abstract】We have developed the simulation model expressing the process in which disaster information is transmitted to residents, for the purpose of considering the increase in efficiency of the communication of information to the residents at the time of a disaster. This model can express and evaluate the situation that information is disseminated by various transfer media or the local residents. In this study, by utilizing GIS, communication-of-information process was made to express in detail, and the simulation system that can consider the disaster communication of information of an area concretely was developed. By this development, by using it effectively, the geographic information that GIS has, along with an analysis function, the device is made so that a local situation can be expressed faithfully.

【Abstract】 Although recent CAI (Computer Aided Instruction) systems are generally advanced and improved by the use of rich "help" and visual aid, the problem that students often do not know what they do not understand has not been solved yet since the systems still treat students as a mass but not as individuals. In this research, we propose an intelligent agent-based CAI system, which identifies student's uncomprehending points adequately by comparing the knowledge of the student and the global knowledge system of a particular domain, and by sensing the student's interactions with the CAI system. We have developed a prototype system based on the proposed model for undergraduate level course of steel structures and investigated the feasibility.

【Abstract】 Although optimization or heuristics-based approach have been used for the design generation purpose, these methodologies seem to be difficult to apply for design generation of steel connections since their types and patterns are too numerous. In this paper, we propose a design generation methodology using XML (Extensible Markup Language) and Case-Based Reasoning (CBR) and we have developed a prototype system for steel connections. In this approach, a design report is written by XML and stored in a repository as an element of design case database. For a new design situation, this system finds the most similar design case in the repository and generates an appropriate design using the previous case.
