Reduced-order H/sub /spl infin// controller synthesis using a real-coded genetic algorithm 采用实数编码遗传算法合成降阶H/sub /spl infin//控制器

It is difficult to design a less conservative reduced-order H/sub /spl infin// controller presently. We propose a method of designing a less conservative reduced-order controller by using a genetic algorithm. Since it is difficult to search for a reduced-order controller directly, we search for the full-order controller whose reduced-order controller has the approximate performance of the H/sub /spl infin// optimal full-order controller by adopting controller parameterizations. Then, it is reduced by a certain reduction technique. We propose a coding that is to search only a set of all optimal full-order controllers, since the desired full-order controller is expected to be one of numerous optimal full-order controllers. In order to show the effectiveness of the proposed method, the numerical example is given.

In this paper, we discuss the development of an autonomous planning craft test platform. The motivation for the development of this test bed is discussed, along with technical details regarding the initial implementation. Particular emphasis is placed upon the integration of motors, actuators, and sensors for position, motion, and collision avoidance with a central microcontroller.

Fifth-order sigma delta modulator with decimation 带抽取的五阶σ δ调制器

This paper describes the use of very high precision noise shaping sigma delta modulation techniques for high fidelity audio applications that require a signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of at least +80 dB. This paper discusses the implementation of a fifth-order sigma delta modulator with an oversampling frequency of 5.68 MHz. Specifically this paper is a comparative study of Matlab and Pspice implementations of our fifth order sigma delta modulator with a VHDL-based finite impulse response (FIR) filter.

Web proxy analysis in distributed iSCSI RAIDs 分布式iSCSI raid的Web代理分析

With the popularity of Web services and e-commerce, we have a high demand on data storage. Because of the development of the Internet infrastructure and the low cost of deployment, implementing storage over IP has become a trend. While networked storage brings economy, it also raises performance concern. In a typical distributed Web system, I/O requests from clients users may be satisfied by many different parties along the I/O path from front-end clients to back-end storage systems via proxy and Web servers. To improve the performance, we need to identify the I/O distribution pattern along the path. This paper analyzes the I/O distribution along the I/O path of a distributed iSCSI RAID system by using kernel counters and profiles how the I/O requests are satisfied at different levels of the proxy server and storage system, which is useful to identify the performance bottleneck.

Vehicle lateral control using a double integrator control strategy 车辆横向控制采用双积分器控制策略

In this paper, a bang-bang control algorithm developed for double integrator systems is applied to the problem of automated vehicle steering control. This research is part of an on-going project on vehicle control using scale-model vehicle simulator. The controller uses pre-determined, piecewise constant control signals to shape the lateral position and yaw angle responses. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed control algorithm maintains acceptable performance despite the unmodeled dynamics.

Delayed-orthogonal signaling for narrow band data transmission 用于窄带数据传输的延迟正交信令

Sinusoidal frequency modulation yields orthogonal spectral lines from which orthogonal spectral pairs can be formulated. The orthogonal spectral pairs can be utilized as in-phase ('I') and quadrature phase ('Q') signaling waveforms for use in data transmission. This paper describes the origins of these signaling waveforms and the delayed-orthogonal adaptation necessary to preserve phase continuity at the switching boundary. Delayed-orthogonal signaling for wireless channel transmission exhibits spectral properties nearly void of message-driven switching artifacts. This characteristic permits good spectral control regardless of the message content; which allows high-density frequency domain multiplexing utilizing low guard-band separation, with channel bandwidth on the order of the bit rate. Delayed-orthogonal signaling permits subcarrier injection that is well isolated from the message signal modulation. The subcarrier signal provides a coherent reference for demodulation, gain control, and additional signaling.

Comparative analysis of linear variable reluctance motors with coupled and uncoupled flux paths 磁通路径耦合与非耦合线性变磁阻电机的比较分析

This paper provides a comparison between two types of linear variable reluctance motors. The coupled flux path configuration has a non-diagonal inductance matrix and is operated with synchronous excitation, whereas the uncoupled flux path configuration has a diagonal inductance matrix and is operated with switched excitation. Constrained optimization methods are used to investigate the force production capabilities of both magnetic configurations. The specific measure of performance emphasized here is the ratio of current-limited ripple-free force to moving mass or, equivalently, the maximum achievable fully controllable acceleration. This focus is motivated by robotics applications, e.g. component placement machines used in electronics assembly.

In this paper, the formal Laplace-Borel transform of an analytic nonlinear input-output system is defined, specifically, an input-output system that can be represented as a Fliess operator. Using this concept and the composition product, an explicit relationship is then derived between the formal Laplace-Borel transforms of the input and output signals. This provides an alternative interpretation of the symbolic calculus introduced by Fliess to compute the output response of such systems. Finally, it is shown that the formal Laplace-Borel transform provides an isomorphism between the semigroup of all well defined Fliess operators under composition and the semigroup of all locally convergent formal power series under the composition product.

Alternative energy technology (AET) is the next revolution in the making. It is needed to maintain world's prosperity and to meet the unlimited demands for energy in the near future. Therefore, graduating engineers, scientists, and specialists in AET is of a growing interest. This paper presents a thorough and complete curriculum for a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering with concentration in alternative energy technology. This curriculum was developed in response to the State of Michigan request for proposal (next energy) and was submitted in part by Lawrence Technological University to the State of Michigan. The proposed curriculum can also be used for a newly developed B.S. degree in Alternative Energy Technology. Since AET is multi-disciplinary in nature, the new degree encompasses courses in all engineering disciplines including electrical and computer engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, architecture and civil engineering.

This curriculum was developed in response to the State of Michigan request for proposal (next energy) and was submitted in part by Lawrence Technological University to the State of Michigan. The proposed curriculum can also be used for a newly developed B.S. degree in Alternative Energy Technology. Real-time image segmentation based on learning models 基于学习模型的实时图像分割

This paper presents real-time, digital image segmentation techniques using variable threshold functions. The approach is based on new learning models used to generate the variable threshold functions. The learning models are derived from discrete time functions often used in digital control system design. The techniques are successful to detect regions with different or poor light conditions and can be applied to images with occluded or noisy objects. In addition, the approach can be used to locate objects in a scene. The developed algorithms can also be integrated on a single monolithic integrated circuit or implemented as an embedded system for real-time applications.
