Background: Peripheral intravenous cannula (PIVC) are a frequent nursing technique used for the infusion of beverages, medicines, and blood products and are required by the majority of patients. As a result, it is critical to maintain a sufficient supply of PIVC because they are prone to problems such as obstruction, phlebitis, and exudation, necessitating frequent replacement. However, post-insertion PIVC failure is common, most likely due to inconsistencies in maintenance practices such as flushing. As a result, hospital policies contribute to a lack of practice and awareness about this issue, which improves clinical education for nurses and patient care. Aim: This study aimed to assess nurses’ practice and knowledge of peripheral intravenous cannula flushing pre-therapy administration at medical-surgical wards. Subjects and Methods: A descriptive research design was utilized. A purposive sample of sixty-two nurses who were working in the medical-surgical wards at Teaching Hospital, Ismailia city , was used. Two tools were used for data collection : a self-administered questionnaire to identify nurses’ personal data and knowledge and an observational checklist to assess nurses’ practice. Results: The findings of this study revealed that most of the studied nurses had a fair level of knowledge and an unsatisfactory level of practice with regard to peripheral intravenous cannula flushing. Furthermore, there was a statistically significant positive correlation between their total knowledge and practice scores , with a p value ≤0.05. Conclusion: In the present study, the nurses’ level of practice was inadequate , and their knowledge of peripheral intravenous cannula flushing was fair . Additionally, there was a highly statistically significant relationship between total performance score (practices and knowledge) and their qualifications, with a p value≤0.05. Recommendations: Nurses should have access to ongoing educational opportunities and in-service training programs on short peripheral catheter intravenous flushing to improve their expertise.

. Abstract : Background: Mammography is the most useful test for detecting the growth of breast tumors. Regular screening mammograms for women can reduce the death rate from breast tumor progression. Aim : Assess the effectiveness of distraction techniques on alleviating pain and anxiety in women undergoing screening mammography. Subjects and method : Design: A prospective, randomized controlled trial research design was used. Setting: The study was conducted in Al-Iman Center at Al-Tadamon Hospital in Port Said city. Subjects: One hundred women were randomly assigned to two equal groups as part of a purposive sample. Tools of the study: Three instruments were employed to collect data for the purpose of research. Structured interviews, The Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS), and The numerical pain rating scale (NRS). Results: Having a painful examination and being afraid of radiation are the biggest obstacles to mammography. In terms of pain, the results showed that the distraction group's mean pain score decreased to 2.82±2.037 as compared to 5.22±1.788 in the control group, with a significant difference between the two groups (p=0.00). Furthermore, a drop in the distraction group's mean anxiety score was noted in comparison to the control group (7.12±4.397 & 7.88±4.059, respectively), with no statistically significant differences between the two groups (p=0.37). Conclusion : Distraction techniques are a useful and recommended technique to help women cope with their discomfort and anxiety during breast tumor screening mammograms. Recommendation: It is recommended that this should include into formal work protocols, procedural guidelines, training curricula, and performance evaluation standards for radiographers.

Aim: Determine the effect of the pre rehabilitation program on cognitive and motor functions for patients post-craniotomy. Subjects and Methods: Quasi-experimental research design was used . Setting: This study was carried out at the neurosurgery department and neurosurgery outpatients' clinic at Mansoura University Hospital. A convenient sample of 70 oriented patients post craniotomy was classified into the study (who received a rehabilitation program and the control group (35 in each group). Tools: (I) Patients' assessment sheet post craniotomy, Tool (II): Patients' knowledge, regarding craniotomy (pre and post-test), Tool (III): Patients' reporting practice regarding post craniotomy exercise (IV) Mini–mental state examination (MMSE), and (V) Berg balance scale(PBS). Results: In comparison to patients in the control group, participants in the pre-rehabilitation group showed a statistically significant increase in their knowledge , practice , motor, and cognitive abilities following pre rehabilitation programme (p. value < 0.01). Conclusion: When a pre-rehabilitation program is implemented, patients' knowledge, practice, and motor and cognitive abilities after a craniotomy significantly improve.
