Feedback reputation systems are gaining popularity as dealing with unfair ratings in reputation systems has been recognized as an important but difficult task. This problem is challenging when the number of true user ratings is relatively small and unfair ratings plays majority in rated values. In this paper, we propose a new method to find malicious users in online reputation systems using Mean Bisector Analysis and Cosine Similarity (MBACS). Here the effort is mainly concentrated on abnormals in both rating-values domain and the malicious users domain. MBACS is very efficient to detect malicious user ratings and aggregate trustful ratings. The proposed reputation system is evaluated through simulations, MBACS system can significantly reduce the impact of unfair ratings.

This paper investigates the performance of a differential phase shift keying subcarrier intensity modulation (DPSK-SIM) based free space optical (FSO) communication system over strong atmospheric turbulence channel with pointing errors. Novel closed-form analytical expressions are derived for average bit error rate (BER), channel capacity and outage probability. The simulated results for average BER, channel capacity and outage probability of DPSK-SIM modulation technique is analyzed with 2D and 3D plots.

The function of a femtocell is to extend the cellular coverage to areas where the signal from base station cannot be received, thus improving the indoor wireless services. However, under the expected co-channel deployment of femto and macro-cells, a significant number of calls originating from femtocell users get dropped or blocked. This blocking rate problem must be controlled so that the femto users get quality of services. In this paper, the analytical system model is designed introducing a novel approach for solving Markov chain for increased number of femtocells. A channel selection algorithm along with power control is also being proposed in this paper to reduce the call dropping and blocking rates for femto users. Results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method in reducing the blocking and dropping rates.

Passive optical network (PON) based on orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM-PON) is a promising candidate for high optical access network due to its greater resistance to fiber dispersion. High spectral efficiency is also achieved due to the orthogonality among all sub-carriers which overlap in the frequency domain. Two-dimensional (2-D) signal mapper and one-dimensional (1-D) inverse fast fourier transform (IFFT) are the major elements of the conventional OFDM communication system. In this paper, we use the concept of three-dimensional (3-D) signal mapper and 2-D IFFT which is called as 3-D OFDM communication system. The performance of 40 Gb/s 2-D OFDM-PON and 3-D OFDM-PON using multi-level modulation scheme under various system impairments is analytically analyzed for coherent optical orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (CO-OFDM) without using any optical dispersion compensation. As bit error rate (BER) depends on minimum Euclidean distance (MED) which is 15.46 % more in case of 3-D OFDM as compared to 2-D OFDM. Analytical result show that at BER of 10-3 which is the limit of forward error correction (FEC), there is about 2.5 dB signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) gain. An optical budget (downstream) of 47.1 dB is obtained for 40 Gb/s optical access networks using 2-D OFDM and about 48.4 dB for 3-D OFDM with 16-QAM and corresponding values are 45.3 dB and 46.5 dB respectively for 64-QAM.

This paper presents a comparative Analysis between various Control techniques such as Hysteresis and Hysteresis-fuzzy combined control technique with different fuzzy-rule applied in Shunt Hybrid filter for reduction of harmonics in a distribution generation to increase the power quality, An indirect current control technique along with Hysteresis current control strategy is implemented to generate switching signal used for turning on and off of the insulated gate bipolar transistor used in the shunt hybrid active filter, Again Fuzzy-hysteresis band technique is adopted for the current control to derive the switching signal for the voltage source inverter. The fuzzy-hysteresis band current control changes the hysteresis band width according to the supply voltage and the slope of the reference compensator current wave. A Fuzzy-logic based controller is developed to control the voltage of the DC Capacitor with different fuzzy rule such as 7/7 and 5/5, Simulation results are obtained and compared with each other, In hysteresis current control technique Total Harmonics Distortion is 10.12% of the Fundamental which is Decreases to a Value of 0.19 % in Fuzzy-hysteresis control technique with 7/7 rule and 0.22% in 5/5 rule, Hence It proves the effectiveness of the Combined controller technique and also gives an idea about different fuzzy-rule.

A PFC (Power Factor Correction) based singlestage, single-switch SC (Switched-Capacitor) buck-boost converter is proposed to feed BLDC (Brushless DC) motor drive. The speed of proposed drive is controlled by varying the DC link voltage of VSI (Voltage Source Inverter) feeding BLDC motor. Moreover, the BLDC motor is electronically commutated which has reduced switching losses in VSI. The SC buck-boost converter is designed to operate in DICM (Discontinuous Inductor Current Mode) to act as an inherent power factor corrector. A reduced sensor configuration of a BLDC motor is developed to realize a cost effective solution for low power household applications. The proposed drive is designed for speed control over a wide range with nearly unity power factor.

This paper describes a multi-point Bidirectional Contactless Charging System (BCCS) in a charging station suitable for electric vehicle and plug-in-hybrid vehicle applications. Battery modules of different ratings, together with their charging interface is connected to their respective charging points through high frequency coreless coils are described. Such type of multilevel configuration is easy to modularize and extend and allows different kinds of batteries to work together. Modeling, design and control aspects of multi-point BCCS system are addressed in detail. A multi-point BCCS system is designed and simulated for a maximum power handling capacity of 200kW and analyzed for vehicle-to-grid and grid-to-vehicle operations.

Human negligence and human error have become the primary cause for train accidents in India. The objective of the paper is to eliminate train accidents by exploiting surveillance. Each locomotive is equipped with an automated surveillance system. The train tracks in railway network are segmented and given with distinct track numbers which are read by surveillance system inside the locomotive. This track number will be shared with neighbour trains using Radio Frequency Communication by the surveillance system. The system then compares its track number with neighbour train track numbers. On locating same track numbers, steps are taken by the surveillance system to caution the concerned motorman in order to stop the train and avoid mishaps. The paper proposes specific way of numbering the train tracks in segments. Also a communication protocol is proposed to ensure data transfer among Radio Frequency transceivers of the systems under half duplex mode.

Government of India has laid the foundation of national solar mission to establish the country as a global leader in solar energy. Tariff is a crucial factor for penetration of the solar energy across the country. This paper presents operational aspects & prevailing tariff structure of combined solar photovoltaic and battery (PV-Battery) energy system in a network. A 50 kWp solar PV-Battery system is considered for study. PVsyst software is used for PV-Battery system modelling and estimations of hourly energy generation from the PV array. Short term generation scheduling of PV-Battery system is done to study its operational aspects in network. Unit commitment (UC) problem is solved to determine optimal operating strategy of hybrid plant consisting of thermal generators and PV-Battery system. To analyse the effect of the PV-Battery system in network, a 6 bus system is considered and power flow problem is solved. Location of PV-Battery system is determined by doing exhaustive search such that minimum network losses occur. The estimated generation from the PVsyst software along with the Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC) tariff guidelines are used for the tariff calculation of energy produced from PV-Battery system. Financial analysis is also done to check its viability.
