In the game of football, maybe more than in any other sport, the coach-parent relationship is not always positive. There are quite a few situations when it even becomes toxic, which unfortunately mainly affects the player. The psychological impact on the development of children who play football can be decisively influenced by the coach-athlete-parent triad. If the relationship between adults is not appropriate, then the triangle will be oriented with the tip (specifically, the child) down, which is undesirable in a high-level activity. Not infrequently, taking into account the negative perceptions that the two parties have of each other, they try to avoid any kind of communication or interaction. However, our experience in the field and the literature review prove otherwise. In this paper, we want to highlight the extremely important role that communication can play in solving all existing problems between coaches and parents, and through the comparative analysis between the United Kingdom (UK) and Romania, we will try to see whether there are similarities and differences in addressing this issue. The responses to the questionnaire applied to coaches from the two countries mentioned above can establish new strategic directions for solving problems with the help of communication.

The bodily experience of children who will be introduced to the handball game is reduced for many reasons whose enumeration does not find its place here. As a result, in order to increase their motor experience, it is necessary to use methods that, in addition to motor involvement, also determine an increased emotional involvement of children. Dynamic games, through their contents, forms and effects, have multiple formative and educational values, being recommended in sports training, especially during childhood. Starting from the child’s spontaneity and pleasure to act and think, the psychomotor activity promotes a harmonious psychophysical development. Through playful pleasure, the child’s motivation for movement, exploration and knowledge to pursue a significant and functional relationship with the environment (understood as space, object, movement, knowledge, relationship) is activated. In this paper, we want to show that the use of dynamic games, especially in the initial phase of handball training, has very good results in the learning of the main technical elements and particularly the increase of children’s ability to apply them during the game. To demonstrate this, we chose two groups of beginners who participated in a one-year training programme. In the training of one group, we mainly used dynamic games, and in the training of the other one, we used classic handball training exercises.

Ipsilateral arm lymphoedema is the most frequent long-term complication due to breast cancer surgery, chemo- and radiotherapy, affecting approximately 40% of women treated for this condition. We conducted a retrospective study to assess the efficiency of physiotherapy procedures in reducing arm lymphoedema in women who underwent an exhaustive treatment plan for breast cancer. The study included 32 patients out of the 641 with breast cancer, who were treated by the same multidisciplinary team at the “Prof. Dr. Alexandru Trestioreanu” Institute of Oncology in Bucharest. They underwent unilateral modified radical mastectomy with axillary clearance between 1 January 2016 and 31 December 2019 due to developing ipsilateral arm lymphoedema, stage 2. Of the 18 patients who received individual counselling and education, manual lymph drainage and compressive bandage, 10 (55.5%) decreased arm lymphoedema from stage 2 to 1 after 3 months of treatment. Of the 14 patients who associated these procedures and also benefitted from additional individual physiotherapy including stretching exercises (for the levator scapulae, trapezius, pectoralis major and minor) and progressive active and action-assisted shoulder exercises, 11 (78.5%) reduced arm lymphoedema to stage 1 and regained upper arm mobility and sensitivity. Early initiation of physiotherapy after modified radical mastectomy with axillary lymph node dissection, along with patient education, is associated with a higher regression rate of arm lymphoedema compared to only patient education and awareness. The treatment response rate was 85.7% in patients benefitting from lymphatic drainage, compressive bandage and an individual physiotherapy plan compared to 55.5% in patients only benefitting from lymphatic drainage and compressive bandage.

Idiopathic scoliosis of the adolescent patient is one of the most common spinal deformities. Current studies on the effectiveness of conservative treatment do not provide sufficient data to confirm its validity, although the available literature proposes a multitude of nonsurgical treatments. Fifteen case studies were observed in a short period of conservative treatment based on the Schroth method combined with the Chêneau brace in order to highlight if stopping the progression of the disease or correcting the Cobb angle can be achieved during a growth period. The Cobb angle was measured at the beginning on the most recent X-ray, and after a period of six months, on a new X-ray. Thus, it was observed the short-term effect of therapeutic protocol. The physiotherapy programme consisted of five Schroth-based exercises, two muscle strength and endurance exercises and one auxiliary manual technique. Frequency was established at six times per week: three times in the rehabilitation clinic under the supervision of a Schroth physiotherapist and three times the patient applied the therapy at home, where each session lasted approximately 60 minutes. Limitations observed in the implementation of the programme were the level of involvement of the patient, the measurement of Cobb angle and the period of the year in which the programme was applied. Following these case studies, we believe that the benefits of this approach can create a basis for a guideline of conservative treatment, but further studies should be done with a higher number of people and with control and placebo groups.

Institutionalisation involves specific conditions for the protection of children, providing an educational environment with important consequences for their growth and development. The state guarantees respect for children’s rights in terms of access to education, proper nutrition, physical and emotional security. However, studies suggest that children raised in foster care have a slower or poorer development from a cognitive, linguistic, social, motor or behavioural point of view in comparison with those who grow up in a family. In the long run, these aspects influence children’s ability to integrate both professionally and socially. The association of dance with the physical and mental development of children has been addressed in several studies whose conclusion is that body expression activities are beneficial for children with various motor, emotional or cognitive disorders. Based on these prerequisites, the current study aims to highlight the methodological features related to the inclusion of dance in educational programmes for institutionalised children and thus contribute to increasing their ability to adapt to the challenges of social and professional life. The main purpose of the study was to investigate the effects of dance programmes on children non-cognitive skills. The physical, psychomotor, visual, auditory, musical, artistic and interpersonal skills of a group of institutionalised children aged 11-12 years were assessed and compared with those of children of the same age from organised families, who practise modern dance.

The main challenge in managing type 1 diabetes mellitus is to achieve the glycaemic targets, especially when top-level athletes are involved. The present paper aims at identifying the daily continuous glycaemic oscillations that occur on a regular basis during rhythmic gymnastics training sessions. This is a case report of a 12-year-old junior rhythmic gymnast diagnosed with type 1 diabetes mellitus, with 6 years of experience in sport. Her glycaemic records were available for analysis through the FreeStyle Libre glucose monitoring sensor. The investigation took place in Bucharest between March 30 and April 26, 2021. During this time, the gymnast attended training sessions, provided that her glycaemic values allowed her to perform physical exercise. Data resulting from the LibreView specific software were correlated with the exercise parameters. From the diabetes management standpoint, it was emphasised the distribution of glycaemic values (in range, above and below the target zone) in bi-monthly and daily reports to identify the glucose profiles on training and non-training days. Depending on glycaemic oscillations, the coach adjusted in real time the training load for the athlete so that hypo- and hyperglycaemic episodes are avoided. Glucose monitoring could safely establish risk-free time intervals for both health and training purposes.

The current paper aims to present the situation of COVID-19 cases recorded among the teams participating in Liga Florilor MOL and Liga Zimbrilor (the best senior leagues in Romania), the monthly distribution of the number of no-shows due to coronavirus and the analysis of teams’ adaptability to the new anti-COVID-19 regulations as regards the number of sanctions received for non-compliance with these rules. The novel coronavirus affected all teams participating in Liga Florilor MOL and Liga Zimbrilor. In total, 365 people including players and staff were infected with SARS CoV-2 during this season. Eight teams were in the situation of not being able to participate in handball tournaments, and 24 games were decided at the green table due to COVID-19, meaning 5.86% of the total number of games scheduled for the best men’s and women’s leagues in the 2020-2021 season. The Romanian Handball Federation organized 207 “bubble system” tournaments for all competitive categories, of which 31 were organized for Liga Florilor MOL (17) and Liga Zimbrilor (14). Throughout the season, the teams successfully adapted to the new rules against the spread of the SARS CoV-2 virus. The sanctions imposed for non-compliance with these rules, excepting the games ended 10:0, were extremely low in numbers. A single pecuniary penalty was applied, which was doubled by an exclusion from that tournament. In addition, a single warning was given to a team that violated the ban on using the locker room inside the sports hall.

Human body segments interact harmoniously and efficiently so that homeostasis is maintained in any circumstances. Even the slightest modification of the support surface can have repercussions on postural control strategies and consequently can lead to a change in the alignment of the whole body. Flat foot is the most common condition of the lower limb. It is clinically manifested on multiple anatomical planes: flattening of the medial longitudinal arch (sagittal plane), valgus of the calcaneus (frontal plane) and abduction of the anterior foot (transverse plane). In any case, the influence of structural modifications of the flat foot on one’s posture, especially in children, still remains an insufficiently researched topic. The purpose of this study was to assess the effects that structural modifications of a flat foot have on the pelvis and spine in the sagittal plane, in children aged 7-9. Thus, the following hypothesis was formulated: the structural modifications of flat feet can modify the sagittal alignment of the pelvis and spine in children aged 7-9. The flat feet were assessed using the Foot Posture Index-6 (FPT-6) while the sagittal alignment of the pelvis and spine was measured using the GPS-400 computerised postural analysis system. Statistical analysis of the data did not indicate any significant correlations between the FPI-6 score and pelvic tilt angle or between the FPI-6 score and differences between the sensors and the lumbar and dorsal spinous processes.

Restrictive measures, protection measures such as wearing masks, remote work, all meant to limit the explosive growth in the incidence of coronavirus disease (COVID-19), have changed people’s habits, lifestyles and professional activities. These unexpected and turbulent times have also affected several sectors, such as culture and education, which had to adapt and adjust in order to continue to provide services, but within some limits. Having as background the results of a previous case study developed between 2017 and 2019, this paper aims to analyse whether the cultural features of the newest teachers in the field of sport and physical education science have changed under the impact of the pandemic. Using four of the cultural dimensions of Hofstede’s model, an instrument validated at national level in Romania, as well as data collected in the 2020-2021 school year from a group of 32 people (included in a master’s programme in the field of sport and physical education science), this paper compares the cultural profile of sport specialists before and during the pandemic. The results show that there are some differences only for two cultural dimensions, namely Masculinity versus Femininity and Power Distance. However, as the spread of coronavirus disease at community level has not yet been stopped, it is very likely that these differences will deepen, greatly affecting pedagogical and managerial practices in schools.

However, as the spread of coronavirus disease at community level has not yet been stopped, it is very likely that these differences will deepen, greatly affecting pedagogical and managerial practices in schools.","PeriodicalId":31352,"journal":{"name":"Discobolul Physical Education Sports and Kinetotherapy Journal","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"75387336","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Women who are regularly physically active before pregnancy are much more likely to continue to be regularly physically active during pregnancy. There is lack of information on the specific guidelines and real strategies of adapting several recreational and sport activities to healthy pregnant women. The current study investigates knowledge about the suitability of physical activity for pregnant women. The examined women were divided into two groups as follows: active (women who used to perform some leisure physical activity during pregnancy) and non-active (women who did not use to perform any leisure physical activity during pregnancy). Based on the questionnaire responses, it was found that most women participating in this research believed that their information about proper nutrition and the appropriateness of physical activity during gestation were good enough. They named the Internet and television as their primary sources of information. The data analysis revealed that they wrote down in the questionnaires that they insufficiently consumed fish and whole-grain products in general. On the other hand, red meat, poultry, smoked meat and sweets were consumed in excess. Regarding knowledge about the advisability of physical activity during gestation, it was found that most pregnant women appropriately responded to the survey questions.
