Review on Ethnomedicinal and Potential Effect of Antibacterial Plants against Halitosis 抗菌植物抗口臭的民族医药及潜在作用综述

Halitosis is an oral malodor condition in the oral cavity that comes from the breakdown of protein by anaerobic gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria. Some bacteria that are often found in cases of halitosis are Solobacterium moorei, Porphyromonas gingivalis, Tannerella forsythia, Fusobacterium nucleatum, Prevotella intermedia, Treponema denticola, dan Streptococcus mutans. Medicinal plants to treat various diseases have shown minimal side effects. Indonesia is one of the countries that has used plants as traditional medicine since ancient times. As many as 7,000 species of medicinal plants in Indonesia have been studied to address health problems. Among the medicinal plants that have been studied are Green Betel (Piper betle L.), Cinnamon (Cinnamomum zeylanicum), Star Anise (Illicium verum), Mint (Mentha piperita) dan Oregano (Origanum vulgare) which have been shown to cure various diseases. This review article describes the potential of plants as an antibacterial against halitosis. The purpose of this review is to provide an overview of ethnomedicine and the potential effects of antibacterial medicinal plants that can be used in cases of halitosis.

Physicochemical Characterization Patin Fish Oil (Pangasius micronema) Is Refined Using Bentonite and Activated Carbon. 用膨润土和活性炭精制巴沙鱼鱼油的理化性质。

Abstract: This study aims to determine the physical and chemical quality of fish oil from the flesh of Pangasius microcinema. The quality of extracted fish oil can be improved through a refining process. Before and after the purification process, the quality of crude fish oil was analyzed, including acid value (AV), saponification value (SV), iodine value (IV), peroxide value (PV), and p-anisidine value (An-V). The results of the characterization of patin fish oil (PFO) in meat were carried out with 3 purifications, namely purification without activated carbon purification treatment with bentonite, the value of susceptibility to acid value, peroxide value, saponification value, iodine value, and p-anisidinee value, which ranged from 1.92-2.64 mg KOH/g, peroxide value 3.76-4.87 meq O2/kg, iodine value 80.46-81.39 g I2/100g, saponification value 189.48-196.75 mg KOH/g, and p-anisidinee value 5.95-8.93 meq/kg. The best refining process is the oil extracted from patin fish oil meat oil and distilled using bentonite from dry rendering because the processed fish oil is good in the standards set by the International Association of Fish Flour Producers, Indonesian Fish Oil Standards, and as food fish oil grades.
摘要:本研究旨在测定微影巴沙鱼肉中鱼油的理化品质。通过精制工艺可以提高提取鱼油的质量。对纯化前后的鱼油进行酸值(AV)、皂化值(SV)、碘值(IV)、过氧化值(PV)、对茴香胺值(An-V)等质量分析。通过3种纯化方法,即膨润土不加活性炭纯化,对酸值、过氧化值、皂化值、碘值和对茴香胺值的敏感性值,分别为1.92 ~ 2.64 mg KOH/g,过氧化值3.76 ~ 4.87 meq O2/kg,碘值80.46 ~ 81.39 g O2/ 100g,皂化值189.48 ~ 196.75 mg KOH/g,对茴香胺值5.95 ~ 8.93 meq/kg。最好的精制工艺是从鱼油肉油中提取的油,用干化的膨润土蒸馏,因为加工后的鱼油符合国际鱼粉生产商协会制定的标准,印尼鱼油标准,以及作为食用鱼油的等级。

In Silico Studies on The Potential of Green Tea Catechin Compounds (Camellia sinensis) as Antiviral of SARS CoV-2 Againts Spike Glycoprotein (6LZG) and Main Protease (5R7Y) 绿茶儿茶素化合物(Camellia sinensis)抗病毒SARS - CoV-2刺突糖蛋白(6LZG)和主要蛋白酶(5R7Y)潜力的计算机模拟研究

COVID-19 is a disease caused by SARS CoV-2 by producing structural proteins and non-structural proteins. SARS CoV-2 uses a spike glycoprotein to bind ACE-2 receptors in host cells and uses main protease to replicate. This research aims to screen green tea catechin derivates as an antiviral for SARS CoV-2 through inhibition of spike glycoprotein (6LZG) and main protease (5R7Y). In silico studies carried out are molecular docking, prediction of physicochemical properties, and prediction of toxicity. The potential inhibition was assessed based on binding affinity and interaction of amino acid residues. From the molecular docking process showed that epicatechin and epigallocatechin provide inhibition to spike glycoprotein better than nafamostat indicated by binding affinity of -5.2 kcal/mol and -4.5 kcal/mol, while epigallocatechin gallate and epicatechin gallate provide inhibiton to main protease better than lopinavir with binding affinity of -8.7 kcal/mol and -8.3 kcal/mol. The results of the physicochemical properties prediction showed that only epigallocatechin gallate that did not fulfill five Lipinski's rule. Based on the toxicity class LD50, the derivates of catechin belong to classes 4 and 6. In conclusion, it can be known that epicatechin and epigallocatechin can be developed as an antiviral for SARS CoV-2.

Nitazoxanide merupakan obat pro-drug untuk tizoxanide. Obat tersebut diketahui memiliki aktivitas antivirus pada MERS-CoV. Arbidol memiliki aktivitas antivirus pada H3N2 HA yang memiliki kesamaan struktur dengan SARS-CoV-2. Reseptor target spesifik untuk obat-obat Anti SARS-CoV-2 saat ini adalah NSP5 (Nonstructural protein) dan ACE2 (Angiotensin-converting enzyme 2). NSP5 memediasi replikasi dan transkripsi protein-protein virus sedangkan ACE2 sebagai fasilitator transport asam amino dan reseptor tempat terikatnya SARS-CoV maupun SARS-CoV-2. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui aktivitas antivirus SARS-CoV-2 dari senyawa Nitazoxanide dan Arbidol secara in silico. Senyawa Nitazoxanide dan Arbidol dipreparasi terlebih dahulu dengan melakukan pengunduhan kode PDB ID, penyiapan struktur 2D dan 3D, penentuan minimal energy, pembuatan kode SMILES serta prediksi sifat fisikokimia dan toksisitas. Setelah dipreparasi, dilanjutkan proses penambatan molekul menggunakan aplikasi PyRx-Vina®. Hasil docking dianalisis dengan perangkat lunak PyMOL® dan Discovery Studio Visualizer®. Hasil profil fisikokimia menunjukkan bahwa senyawa Arbidol dan Nitazoxanide telah memenuhi hukum Lima Lipinski dan masing-masing memiliki nilai LD50 sebesar 1350 mg/kg dan 340 mg/kg. Hasil penambatan senyawa uji dengan reseptor menghasilkan interaksi yaitu ikatan hidrogen, interaksi hidrofobik dan interaksi elektrostatik. Interaksi Nitazoxanide pada reseptor 2GZ7 serta Arbidol pada reseptor 3D0G dan 1R4L menunjukkan perbedaan yang signifikan masing-masing terhadap Lopinavir dan Chloroquine dengan nilai p < 0.05, sehingga senyawa tersebut diprediksi memiliki potensi antivirus lebih baik.

Analysis of Heavy Metals in Shellfish in Tanjung Balai Waters 丹戎巴莱水域贝类中重金属含量分析

Abstract: Shellfish is a source of toxic heavy metals and the maximum levels of heavy metals allowed in shellfish by BPOM RI are Lead 1.5 mg/kg, Cadmium 1 mg/kg and Copper 20 mg/kg. Heavy metal content in shellfish is influenced by environmental pollution in which the shellfish live. The purpose of this study was to determine the levels of heavy metals in three types of shellfish in Tanjung Balai Asahan waters. Shellfish samples were taken from 3 different locations in Tanjung Balai in July 2021. Determination of the levels of heavy metals Pb, Cd and Cu in green mussels, mussels and blood clams was carried out using the AAS method with atomic absorption spectrophotometer. The results showed the levels of lead (Pb), cadmium (Cd) and copper (Cu) in Green mussels in Tanjung Balai, namely: Pb of 0.273 mg/kg – 0.406 mg/kg, Cd of 0.089 mg/kg – 0.106 mg/kg mg /kg, Cu is 1,864 mg/kg – 2,011 mg/kg. In oyster shells Pb was 0.051 – 0.095 mg/kg, Cd was 0.077 – 0.091 mg/kg, and Cu was 1.024 mg/kg – 1.064 mg/kg. It was concluded that green mussels had the highest heavy metal content. The levels of heavy metals in the analyzed shellfish samples were still below the maximum levels permitted by BPOM RI. Keywords: Lead, Cadmium, Copper,Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry, Shells

Heavy metal content in shellfish is influenced by environmental pollution in which the shellfish live. The purpose of this study was to determine the levels of heavy metals in three types of shellfish in Tanjung Balai Asahan waters. Shellfish samples were taken from 3 different locations in Tanjung Balai in July 2021. Determination of the levels of heavy metals Pb, Cd and Cu in green mussels, mussels and blood clams was carried out using the AAS method with atomic absorption spectrophotometer. The results showed the levels of lead (Pb), cadmium (Cd) and copper (Cu) in Green mussels in Tanjung Balai, namely: Pb of 0.273 mg/kg – 0.406 mg/kg, Cd of 0.089 mg/kg – 0.106 mg/kg mg /kg, Cu is 1,864 mg/kg – 2,011 mg/kg. In oyster shells Pb was 0.051 – 0.095 mg/kg, Cd was 0.077 – 0.091 mg/kg, and Cu was 1.024 mg/kg – 1.064 mg/kg. It was concluded that green mussels had the highest heavy metal content. The Study on Utilization of Grasshoppers Gelatine as Edible Film in Optimizing Environmentally Friendly Packaging 蝗虫明胶可食性薄膜在环保包装优化中的应用研究

The use of plastic packaging as food wrappers cannot be separated from everyday life. This will certainly cause many environmental problems because of the nature of plastics that are difficult to degrade naturally. One alternative to overcome the use of plastic in food products is edible film. The edible film is a thin layer that is used as a coating for food that can be consumed and is environmentally friendly. The edible film can be made from gelatin as raw material. Gelatin has properties that can form gels, foam emulsifiers, and can maintain the elasticity of a material. In the food industry, gelatin is widely used as a stabilizer, adhesive, binder, gelling agent, thickener, foamer, and viscosity enhancer. In Indonesia, the need for gelatin is met by importing from gelatin-producing countries, so the price becomes very expensive. According to international trade statistics, in 2016 Indonesia imported 54 tons of gelatin from America. Nearly 90% of American gelatin is derived from pork. This raises public concerns about the safety and halalness of their products. Grasshoppers have a fairly high protein content, which is about 24%. The method used in this study is the manufacture of edible films using grasshopper gelatin extracted by the acid method using HCl with varying concentrations of HCl levels of 2, 4, and 6% and soaking time of 1, 2, 3, and 4 hours. The potential of grasshoppers to be used as gelatin is considered suitable with Indonesia's natural resources in the manufacture of edible films as an effort to optimize environmentally friendly packaging.

The Role of Curcumin and Its Derivatives in Innate Immune Response of Macrophages 姜黄素及其衍生物在巨噬细胞先天免疫应答中的作用

Curcumin, a diarylheptanoid, is the active compound isolated from the rhizomes of Curcuma species. Curcumin can modulate mechanisms in inflammatory-related immunomodulatory. The two methoxy groups in aromatic rings in the structure of curcumin play a role in the anti-inflammatory. Macrophages are crucial cellular components of innate immunity. For this reason, this review aims to assess the role of curcumin and its derivatives in the innate immune response of macrophage cells. Curcumin as anti-inflammatory releases inflammation mediators such as cytokines, nitric oxide, reactive oxygen species, and others. Curcumin regulates innate immune via NLRP3 inflammasomes, nuclear factor-kappa B, mitogen-activated protein kinase, and Janus kinase1/2‐signal transducer and activator of transcription protein1 signaling pathway. However, curcumin has limited clinical application, especially solubility and bioavailability. Therefore, a structure and formula modification of curcumin was developed. This review also discusses no evidence of curcumin's mutagenicity, genotoxicity, and toxicity. Thus, the brief information provided in this review investigates the role of curcumin in macrophage cells.

Fitokimia Dan Farmakologi Tanaman Empon-Empon Sebagai Imunomodulator Pada Penyakit Saluran Pernapasan: Systematic Review

Sebagai upaya preventif terhadap Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV 2) maka sangat penting bagi masyarakat untuk meningkatkan imunitas tubuh secara mandiri. Berbagai tanaman asli Indonesia telah direkomendasikan oleh BPOM sebagai tanaman obat untuk peningkatan imunitas tubuh di masa pandemi, diantaranya adalah empon-empon. Tujuan systematic review ini adalah untuk membuat kesimpulan ilmiah dari empon-empon sebagai imunomodulator pada penyakit saluran pernapasan. Metode systematic review ini menggunakan Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA), dengan kriteria inklusi original artikel, artikel berbahasa Inggris dan bahasa Indosesia, artikel tahun 2011-2021. Sedangkan kriteria ekslusinya adalah artikel selain original artikel, artikel selain berbahasa inggris dan bahasa Indonesia, artikel selain rentang tahun 2011-2021. Pencarian dilakukan pada database Google Schoolar, Proquest, PubMed NCBI, Science Direct, dan Spriger dengan kata kunci yaitu zingiberaceae and immunomodulator and respiratory disease. Hasil searching database tersebut didapatkan 3553 artikel kemudian dilakukan skrining didapatkan 29 artikel yang memenuhi kriteria inklusi. Kesimpulan dari systematic review ini adalah Curcuma longa, Zingiber officinale Roscoe, Kaempferia galanga Linn, Curcuma mangga, Zingiber zerumbet, dan Alpinia galanga terbukti meningkatkan sistem imun dengan aktivitas imunomodulator, antiinflamasi, dan antivirus. Senyawa yang berperan sebagai imunomodulator tersebut adalah flavonoid atau fenilpropanoid.

The Effectiveness of the Halal Certification Process among the Community in Brunei Darussalam 文莱达鲁萨兰国社区清真认证过程的有效性

Realiti prestasi keberkesanan pensijilan halal dalam kalangan industri makanan bukan hanya boleh dipengaruhi oleh faktor luaran semata-mata, akan tetapi antara faktor yang menyumbang kepada keberkesanan tersebut juga adalah faktor pengguna dan pihak kerajaan yang melaksanakan pengurusan dalaman organisasi secara efektif dan berwibawa. Jesteru kajian dilaksanakan bertujuan untuk mengetahui tentang keberkesanan proses pensijilan halal di Negara Brunei Darussalam khasnya dari perspektif masyarakat. Kajian ini hanya membatasi respondan dari kalangan pemohon sijil halal. Seramai 154 respondan telah terlibat memberikan maklum balas terhadap soal selidik yang diedarkan secara rawak di ke empat-empat daerah di Negara Brunei Darussalam. Kajian rintis telah dijalankan bertujuan untuk menguji kebolehpercayaan soal selidik yang digunakan bagi kajian ini. Hasil analisis nilai Alpha Cronbach bagi item soal selidik yang diedarkan adalah berada pada nilai .975 . Dapatan kajian ini telah menunjukkan bahawa persepsi masyarakat terhadap keberkesanan proses pensijilan halal di Negara Brunei Darussalam adalah sangat tinggi dan sangat positif. Nilai min pada setiap konstruk soal selidik juga menunjukkan dapatan kajian ini adalah antara julat 3.68 hingga 4.61 iaitu pada tahap yang sangat signifikan. Secara umumnya kajian ini telah mendapati bahawa persepsi masyarakat terhadap keberkesanan pensijilan halal adalah pada tahap yang tinggi dan sangat positif walau bagaimanapun bagi meningkatkan lagi keberkesanan proses pensijilan halal pemeriksaan dan penilaian proses kerja secara dalaman perlulah dilaksanakan oleh pihak-pihak yang pengurusan, jesteru itu kajian ini mencadangkan langkah mengekalkan prestasi keberkesanan pemprosesan sijil halal adalah agar pihak-pihak yang berautoriti dalam pemprosesan sijil halal bertindak melaksanakan satu sistem audit dalaman tentang prosedur kerja bagi proses pensijilan halal di Negara Brunei Darussalam.

Assessing Awareness Level of Halal Cosmetics among Muslim Males in Malaysia: An Empirical Study 评估马来西亚穆斯林男性对清真化妆品的认知水平:一项实证研究

In the Proceeding of International Conference on Education Research (InCER 2020), Ambo & Md Sapir (2020) presented four items that measure halal cosmetic awareness among Muslim males. Unfortunately, INCER 2020's audience thought that the categorisation of respondents based on their marital status did not translate to good results since only ten respondents represented married males in the study out of 86. This paper aims to respond to the feedback given by the INCER 2020's audience by re-analysing the level of halal cosmetic awareness of 86 Muslim males in Malaysia in terms of age, educational level, Islamic background, and marital status, and employing Chi-Square and Independence Sample T-Test.
