A macrodiversity combining technique for improving the reverse link capacity of CDMA systems 一种提高CDMA系统反向链路容量的宏分集组合技术

Macroscopic antenna diversity (macrodiversity) is a form of diversity where the branch signals originate from multiple base stations. While some macrodiversity techniques have been employed in modern cellular systems, techniques that employ combining have not been explored as a means of reducing interference in these systems. In CDMA, the use of more sophisticated techniques could significantly reduce multiple access interference and extend the capacity of current and next-generation systems. A novel combining technique based on macrodiversity is presented. The proposed system has been shown to provide significant capacity improvements in simulation, and shows significant promise as a cost-effective upgrade option to cellular service providers.

Impact of decentralized adaptive frequency allocation on the system performance of HIPERLAN/2 分散自适应频率分配对HIPERLAN/2系统性能的影响

Currently ETSI/BRAN develops standards for HLPERLAN/2, a wireless LAN operating in the 5 GHz band and supporting broadband multimedia communication. The standard supports adaptive frequency allocation (AFA) by protocols for field strength measurements and reports. This paper shows simulation results for a decentralized AFA autonomously operating in each access point and using field strength measurements for the decision of frequency selections. The performance of individual cells and the system as a whole is assessed for start-up, system extension and time varying traffic load scenarios.

Space-time adaptive processing based on unequally spaced antenna arrays 基于非等间距天线阵的时空自适应处理

It is known that the spatial correlation between the desired signal and the undesired signals is an important parameter in adaptive array processing. In this paper, we consider the adaptive antenna of mobile communications under space-time adaptive processing (STAP), where user signals are of multipath rays with different delays, and the space-time correlation functions are employed instead of the conventional spatial correlation coefficients. The analysis results show that the array configuration has the significant effect on the associated space-time correlation functions, so as to play an important role in the STAP schemes. According to the results, a criterion is proposed to design unequally spaced linear arrays. Simulation results show that the STAP with well-designed unequally spaced linear arrays outperform the associated equally spaced linear arrays.

Performance of space-time processing for ISI- and CCI-suppression in industrial scenarios 工业场景下ISI和cci抑制的时空处理性能

This paper shows simulation results of the performance of linear and decision-feedback space-time equalizers for a single carrier system with 24 Msym/s data rate at 5.2 GHz carrier frequency. Thereby the radio channel is realistically modeled by using measurement data of a vector channel sounder gathered in two industrial scenarios. A comparison is given for a variety of equalizer complexities, various channel conditions and different numbers of co-channel interferers. For a proper selection of the complexity good performance values can be obtained under the presence of strong multipath propagation.

Blind joint detection of cochannel CPFSK signals over Rayleigh flat-fading channels with a diversity antenna array 基于分集天线阵的瑞利平衰落信道共信道CPFSK信号盲联合检测

We describe a new method for blind joint detection of cochannel continuous-phase FSK signals over Rayleigh fading channels. By approximating the time variation (TV) of the temporally over-sampled channel as piecewise linear over appropriately selected detector windows, and by exploiting the finite alphabet property (FA) of the signals, the block-based blind joint detection of cochannel CPFSK (BJDFSK) algorithm estimates all cochannel signals and channels simultaneously. We study signal detectability and show that with a diversity antenna array of arbitrary number of elements, signals can be detected to within an equivalence set. Moreover, an efficient Viterbi-based implementation is presented, and its performance is demonstrated through simulation.

Integrated location management in mobile multimedia networks and its role in the development of human tracking systems 移动多媒体网络中的综合位置管理及其在人体跟踪系统发展中的作用

Advanced software protocols for multimedia packet networks are currently designed, tested and, in some cases, fielded by a variety of organisations. Additionally, a variety of solutions are required to provide next-generation, highly-programmable technology solutions to eventually provide reliable, efficient, and secure communications of multimedia traffic over rapidly-deployable mobile adhoc networks to pave the way for seamless extension of the Internet. In this context, it is recognised that user location identification is considered by the service providers as one of the most value-added services for the end-users. The focus of the research in these areas is to allow protocol software and the location technology solutions to be integrated in a flexible manner into the mobile multimedia networks through API (application programming interface) framework. Various location strategies needed to be analysed to derive candidate solutions for integrated location management. In this paper, the background preparation to derive a separate smart antenna API is defined to eventually incorporate it into the distributed network architecture. Preliminary results from the real-data smart antenna experiments are examined to find out the efficacy of the technique. The all-IP architecture for transporting medical information is identified and discussions on user identification to implement advanced human tracking systems is proposed. These systems primarily deal with the problems associated with locating patients suffering from Alzheimer's disease and using multimedia applications and the man-machine interfaces to develop new patient care services.

Intelligent automated frequency assignment program 智能自动频率分配程序

Frequency reuse is the critical means of increasing a cellular system's capacity, yet it also has an inherent interference problem. Mitigating the interference problem is the key to increasing the capacity of cellular networks. One important way to avoid interference is to assign the frequencies more efficiently. This paper discusses an algorithm of automatically assigning frequencies to optimize the interference based on the frequency reuse pattern, C/I ratio, number of cells, system demands, and the adjacent and co-channel interference requirements. The results of before and after application of the frequency assignment are also discussed. Finally, this paper shows that a significant interference reduction can be achieved by applying this algorithm.

Evaluation of a turbo decoder performance on the cdma2000 reverse link cdma2000反向链路上turbo解码器性能的评估

The turbo code is widely noticed as a code that can achieve a performance close to Shannon's limit. The proposal for the IMT-2000 standard introduces the turbo code for the high rate and high quality data transmission system that is being constructed for mobile telecommunications. We have developed a turbo decoder for trial manufacture, installed it in the cdma2000 experimental system, and evaluated the system performance with this decoder. We investigated whether the turbo code has a sufficient performance in comparison with the conventional Viterbi decoder.

Simulations of frequency hopping schemes with power control in a GSM network GSM网络中具有功率控制的跳频方案的仿真

After about one decade of operation, improvements and evolutions, GSM cellular networks have reached a high level of maturity. Several techniques, originally considered as options in the GSM standard, are now currently implemented to help improve both quality and capacity of the networks. We focus on two basic mechanisms: frequency hopping and power control. The objective of this work is to evaluate the improvements obtained by combining each of three frequency hopping schemes with a power control mechanism. A family of objective function based multi-user detectors for DS/CDMA systems 一种基于目标函数的DS/CDMA多用户检测器

The 3/sup rd/ generation cellular mobile and wireless personal communication systems are expected to accommodate not only high quality voice services, but also a broad range of other multi-rate services. Of the various access protocols, wideband code division multiple access (CDMA) has emerged as the key air interface because of its high frequency utilization and suitability for handling multimedia and multi-rate services. We propose a simple, robust and effective objective function based multi-user detection (MUD) receiver. Numerical results over the AWGN and fading channels will show that significant capacity and performance improvement can be achieved compared with the conventional DS/CDMA receiver.
