A novel evaluation method of blockage by ground features on land vehicle satellite communications 一种基于地物的车载卫星通信阻塞评估新方法

We propose an effective method to evaluate intermittent blocking on land-mobile satellite communications. This method uses the Global Positioning System. The result suggests that EFSAT (Eight-Figure SATellite) which provides higher elevation angles to areas in middle latitudes, is more suitable for land-mobile satellite communications in urban areas than a geostationary satellite in terms of blockage by features on the ground.

MAI cancellation with commutation signaling 用交换信令取消MAI

This paper deals with PIC-parallel interference cancellation with and without the ISI cancellation system-commutation signaling (CS), in a deep Rayleigh fading environment, time and frequency selective, assuming the spreading sequences and the features of the channels of the several interfering users is known. It is proved that PIC lead to good profits especially when the CS technique is used together, because these systems subtract the MAI estimated for each user. These estimates improve when the ISI is cancelled, since the MAI estimated depends upon the estimate of the transmitted symbols by each interfering user. Additionally, it considers the blind detection (without knowledge of spreading sequences nor the features of the channels of the interfering users) with a noise whitening matched filter (NWMF) that combats the MAI through the whitening of the interfering power spectrum (following the single-user philosophy).

Performance of list Viterbi equalizers with metric-criteria combining 结合度量标准的列表Viterbi均衡器的性能

This paper discusses performance of a list Viterbi equalizer (LVE) employing a metric-criteria combining (MCC) scheme, which weighted-combines the squared Euclidean metric and the modified metric proposed by Ungerboeck (1974). First, it evaluates hardware implementation aspects of LVEs. Next, it discusses performance aspects of the metric criteria. Finally, it is confirmed by computer simulation that MCC-LVEs can cope with the path diversity gain at relatively small hardware complexity in the presence of wide spread ISI and MCC-LVEs with diversity reception improve the packet error rate (PER) performance even if there exist large number of effective fading paths.

Delay estimation of code-spread CDMA systems 码分多址系统的延迟估计

Delay estimation of a code-spread code division multiple access (CS-CDMA) system using low-rate maximum free distance (MFD) convolutional codes for bandwidth expansion is studied. Using the repetitive structure of the low-rate MFD codes, the codewords are first permuted using a criterion based on the Cramer-Rao bound that results in good delay estimation properties. Thereafter, an approximate maximum-likelihood estimator that jointly estimate the channel gain, the codewords and the delay is used. Using the derived algorithm we show that it is in fact possible to estimate the delay in a code-spread system.

Novel mobile video transmission system for off-road navigation services 新型非公路导航移动视频传输系统

One of the problems faced in vehicular transmission systems is the protection of highly sensitive real-time video information against multipath fading environments. The technique proposed is the implementation of a M-level QAM scheme in association with a novel fade estimation and compensation technique. A half-pilot symbol assisted modulation scheme, HP-SAM, a Reed-Solomon error correction coding as well as a non-uniform partitioning of the signal constellation are also used. They result in considerable improvements in the bit and frame error rate performance. It is essential that the video is encoded with high compression rate. In this paper, we also propose a highly efficient interframe coding technique that uses transmission via separate channels, each having differing degrees of error protection. The main focus of this paper is on the transmission aspects of the scheme and the performance enhancement they can provide. The codec is currently under development.

Win and Winters (see Proc. IEEE Globecom, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, 1999) investigated the performance of the hybrid selection maximal ratio combining (H-S/MRC) scheme in a Rayleigh fading environment. We expand on that work by considering non-ideal channel estimation under Rayleigh fading for the H-S/MRC system. We derive both a closed form exact expression and less computationally intensive bound expressions for the symbol error probability of three systems; differential detector, pilot symbol assisted-estimator and ideal coherent detector.

Location services architecture for future mobile networks 未来移动网络的位置服务架构

The next generation mobile networks and their services are being designed to easily accommodate the growth and changes in technology that will occur during their operational lifetime. One such service is the location service. This may be used to provide location information for subscriber services (e.g. summon a taxi to the subscriber's current location), for "emergency services" (e.g. summon medical assistance to the subscriber's location) and to assist the mobile network's internal operations (e.g. location dependent handover). Technology is rapidly developing in this area, both within the mobile networks and outside (e.g. satellite GPS). A client server architecture provides an efficient and flexible design that can accommodate both the growth in service requirements and the changes in technology that will occur within the mobile networks. As the service and the technology develop, the measurement process and the servers may be upgraded to introduce new capabilities. In this way the network operator is assured of maintaining the most efficient and up-to-date capabilities and technology for the services within their network. This paper reviews the client server architecture and operations developed within the 3GPP UTRAN "third generation" mobile standards and their applications to future communications networks.

Removable user identity module (R-UIM) is widely deployed in GSM, known as SIM (subscriber identity module). It is expected that such R-ULM will be also available for ANSI based third generation systems. However, unlike GSM based systems, ANSI based systems have a potential issue so called "MSID-ESN decoupling" associated with deployment of R-UIM. This paper identifies this issue and proposes a network support scenario for third generation ANSI based R-UIM.

This paper present an extension of semi-analytical estimation of MMSE diversity performance when the covariance matrix of the desired signal at the antenna array is rank-deficient. Iterative decision-directed path search and channel estimation for multi-carrier/DS-CDMA broadband packet wireless access 多载波/DS-CDMA宽带分组无线接入的迭代决策导向路径搜索与信道估计

This paper proposes an iterative timing detection of multipath components for coherent Rake combing (path search) and channel estimation method in multi-carrier/DS-CDMA (MC/DS-CDMA) broadband packet wireless access, such as 20 Mbps packet transmission over a 100 MHz bandwidth, including single-carrier/DS-CDMA (SC/DS-CDMA). In the proposed method, while the initial path search and channel estimation are calculated using only time-multiplexed pilot symbols at the beginning of a packet, their results are refined by repeating the path search and channel estimation using both pilot and decision-directed data symbols. Computer simulation results demonstrate that the measured required average received E/sub b//N/sub 0/ for achieving the average packet error rate (PER)=10/sup -2/ can be improved by approximately 1.2, 1.3, 2.0, and 2.1 dB for the number of sub-carriers N/sub c/=1(SC/DS-CDMA), 4, 8, and 16, respectively, in an equal level 24-path Rayleigh fading channel, when the number of pilot symbols is 64 and the number of iterations is 1.
