Optimal time slot design in an OFDM-TDMA system over power-line time-variant channels 电力线时变信道OFDM-TDMA系统的最优时隙设计

This paper analyzes the resource allocation problem in an indoor PLC system with a physical (PHY) layer based on OFDM and a medium access control (MAC) scheme with contention and adaptive TDMA regions, similar to the one of the HomePlug AV specification. In particular, this work focuses in the optimization of the TDMA region. By taking into account both the cyclostationary noise and the cyclic variations of the channel response, the optimal time slot duration in a multi-user scenario is determined for various amounts of overhead required by the PHY layer. Hence, the presented results can be used in practical systems to perform a fast real-time time slot length selection and scheduling as a function of the number of active users.

Analysis of the power line channel estimation error based on comb-type pilot arrangement 基于梳状导频布置的电力线信道估计误差分析

In this paper, we analyze the error of channel estimation using the pilot tones associated with interpolation technique. Our method is based on a unified mathematical decomposition of the channel estimation error, which takes both the signal-to-noise ratio at pilot sub-carrier locations and the interpolation kernel used into account. This method has been recently proposed by the authors and illustrated over a channel model. We complete here the previous analysis and provide news results over a power line severe real channel.

Interoperability of carrier-modulated OFDM systems with PRIME 载波调制OFDM系统与PRIME的互操作性

A consortium of several companies is currently working on the so called PRIME Project, a system for communication in a powerline grid. The new technology intends to use CENELEC A band, where some communication systems are already operating. As OFDM is specified as transmission method for PRIME, existing devices using OFDM might be adapted easily to interoperate with PRIME. Here, a brief “how-to” is presented and some problems concerning interoperability are addressed. At last, we state PRIME compatibility of iAd's DLC-2B® device.

The inter-PHY protocol (IPP): A simple coexistence protocol for shared media phy间协议(IPP):用于共享媒体的简单共存协议

The power line (PL) is a shared medium, so that PL devices deployed on the same PL network must share the available capacity. Since there are today several incompatible technologies in the market and no available standard, it is expected that these different technologies will continue to be deployed for some time thus giving rise to the necessity of adopting coexistence mechanisms, i.e. mechanisms allowing non-interoperable devices to efficiently share channel resources. This problem has seldom been addressed in the literature and the goal of this contribution is to fill this gap. A simple coexistence mechanism is here presented and its performances assessed via simulations. A particular version of this algorithm has been proposed to the IEEE P1901 and to the ITU-T SG15/Q4 G.9960 (G.hn) Working Groups.

An information theoretic analysis on indoor PLC channel characterizations 室内PLC信道特性的信息论分析

Power-Line is recently considered as a future medium for the high rate transmissions. But the development of Power Line Communications (PLC) highly depends on the knowledge of the channel characterizations. For this reason, a large number of attentions have been payed on the PLC channel analysis using the measurements. This paper highlights an information theoretic analysis for indoor PLC channel environment investigation, wherein, the estimated channel entropy and the power delay spectrum are expected to give us much useful information to describe the indoor PLC channels. Moreover, the study on the PLC channel degree of freedom distribution and the discussion of choosing whether wide-band or multi-band are included in this paper

QC-LDPC codes and their performance on Power Line Communications Channel QC-LDPC码及其在电力线通信信道上的性能

In this paper Low Density Parity Check Codes (LDPC) are introduced in the Power Line Communications Channel (PLC). We investigate how different decoding algorithms, which are applied on LDPC codes, affect the system's performance. Therefore, an iterative belief propagation decoding algorithm as well as a proposed variation of the original bit flipping algorithm are exploited. In addition, a hybrid technique combining these two algorithms is proposed. Irregular LDPC codes of various code rates are studied. Specifically, the cases of 1/2, 1/3, 2/3, 3/4 and 4/5 code rates are investigated. Regarding the irregular LDPC codes, they are constructed in a Quasi-Cyclic form. The system's performance is expressed in terms of the resultant Bit Error Rate (BER) versus the Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR). In order to design the power line communications channel, Middleton's class A noise model is used to account for the system's background and impulsive noise, while Zimmermann's channel model is also used. The OFDM transmission technique is taken into account. Results are derived via computer simulations.

QoS Broker based architecture design for the PLC access network 基于QoS Broker的PLC接入网体系结构设计

Broadband PLC seems to be gaining popularity as an access network technology so that the standardization efforts are rising notably. Broadband PLC gives the opportunity of delivering services such as telephony, TV and Internet through the power line, but also entails managing the Quality of Service that these applications need. In this paper, a centralized Quality of Service architecture for PLC access networks based on a QoS Broker is proposed. This architecture will allow for better managing of the QoS in the PLC domain and it should facilitate the interoperability with other technology domains. PLC Qos Broker architecture must be integrated with the core network in order to attain end-to-end QoS.

We propose the sensor network where two different media of wireless communication and wire communication are used in a mutually. This sensor network, called mutually complementary multichannel sensor network (MMSN), can mutually complement the route in which communication is not possible via radio frequency or power lines. We defined the concept and architecture of MMSN.

OFDM/OQAM performance analysis under asynchronous impulsive noise 异步脉冲噪声下OFDM/OQAM性能分析

Impulsive noise remains one of the important issues for data transmission over power lines. Many studies show that, compared to the single carrier modulation scheme, the OFDM not only fights against the channel time dispersion, but also helps to mitigate the noxious effects of such kind of noise. The OFDM/OQAM is an alternative multicarrier scheme that exhibits a higher theoretical spectral efficiency than OFDM with cyclic prefix (CP-OFDM) and may furthermore, be well-localized in time and frequency. In this paper, an investigation of the OFDM/OQAM performance in impulsive environment is done. The influence of the prototype filter and the number of carriers on the bit error rate (BER) performance is analyzed. The results are compared to those obtained with the OFDM scheme. Finally, an optimization of a clipping non-linearity is evaluated.

Many studies show that, compared to the single carrier modulation scheme, the OFDM not only fights against the channel time dispersion, but also helps to mitigate the noxious effects of such kind of noise. The OFDM/OQAM is an alternative multicarrier scheme that exhibits a higher theoretical spectral efficiency than OFDM with cyclic prefix (CP-OFDM) and may furthermore, be well-localized in time and frequency. In this paper, an investigation of the OFDM/OQAM performance in impulsive environment is done. The influence of the prototype filter and the number of carriers on the bit error rate (BER) performance is analyzed. The results are compared to those obtained with the OFDM scheme. Influence of time-frequency tiling on BER performance in Discrete Wavelet Multitone power line transmission 时频平铺对离散小波多音电力线传输误码率的影响

OFDM is a popular multi-carrier modulation with a straightforward implementation making use of a fast Fourier transform algorithm. Application of a cyclic prefix in it enables efficient and simple equalization in a multipath fading environment. However, the OFDM has also poor spectral characteristic which can decrease its performance in the impulsive noise scenario. As a remedy for this a Discrete Wavelet Multitone (DWMT), known also as Wavelet-OFDM, has been proposed as a promising alternative for many applications. Unfortunately, difficulties with equalization have been a significant problem limiting its usage in telecommunication systems. Therefore, in this paper, we evaluate a performance of a Circular Discrete Wavelet Multitone (CDWMT), which is a circular version of the standard DWMT modulation, in indoor Power Line Communications (PLC) scenario. Since this method also uses the cyclic prefix for channel equalization it is possible to compare fairly obtained results with the OFDM and demonstrate influence of time-frequency tiling, used in the (C)DWMT, on the transmission bit error rate.
