Consumers’ Perception and Willingness to Pay for Cassava Leaves as a Leafy Vegetable in the Ejisu - Juaben Municipality, Ghana 加纳埃吉苏-朱本市消费者对木薯叶作为叶菜的认知和支付意愿

Cassava leaves, as a leafy vegetable and highly nutritious food, is not a common traded leafy vegetable on the local markets of Ghana. The study assessed consumers’ perception and their willingness to pay (WTP) for cassava leaves as a leafy vegetable in the Ejisu-Juaben Municipality, a peri-urban district in the Ashanti region of Ghana. A multistage sampling technique was used to select 200 respondents for the study. Based on the empirical results, 67% of respondents were willing to pay for cassava leaves at various bids. Overall agreeing perception index (PI) was 64.6%, implying that respondents accept the cassava leaves to be sold at the local market as a leafy vegetable. On average, for every 500 grams bunch of cassava leaves, respondents were willing to pay GHS1.61 (USD0.32), below the value of its close substitute, spinach, at an initial bid of GHS2.00. An empirical tobit regression model revealed that consumers’ monthly income, level of education, and perception to sell cassava leaves as a leafy vegetable have significant influence on their WTP for cassava leaves as a leafy vegetable. The study recommends the need for farmers and other stakeholders to develop and promote the market for cassava leaves, as an alternative source of leafy vegetable for consumers and also as source of income to farmers. There is also the need for sensitization on the nutritional benefits and training on value addition to the produce to boost its patronage in the country and globally.

Information Technology Utilization Of Young Educated Farmers In Agricultural Entrepreneurship 青年受教育农民在农业创业中的信息技术利用

Information technology can help farmers develop their farming, but its utilization is still very low for farmers. This study aims to reveal the personal characteristics of educated young farmers, their entrepreneurial characteristics, their behaviour in using information technology, and their obstacles in utilizing it. This research is a descriptive exploratory with a quantitative approach. The data collection technique used a questionnaire on 124 Yogyakarta-Magelang Agricultural Development Polytechnic students in March-June 2019. Respondents were collected using the census method. The results revealed that educated young farmers prefer entrepreneurial cultivation.Meanwhile, the behaviour of utilizing information technology is moderate. Information technology is used to expand the market scope and seek information.  Cultivation and market opportunities are the most information that young farmers need. The obstacles faced are internal group problems and insufficient time to integrate their business activities with information technology. Business assistance and information technology can help strengthen young farmer groups' management in agricultural entrepreneurship.

Leading Agricultural Subsectors in South Sumatra Province Before and During The COVID-19 Pandemic 南苏门答腊省在2019冠状病毒病大流行之前和期间的主要农业分部门

The COVID-19 pandemic that started in Wuhan, China, in December 2019 has resulted a very fatal health problems in global history, including for the State of Indonesia, which was confirmed that the first case of COVID-19 appeared on March 2, 2020. The COVID-19 pandemic not only having an impact on the health sector, the economy, international trade, industry but also having a negative impact on the agricultural sector, so that the production and productivity of the agricultural sector during the COVID-19 pandemic experienced a significant decline. So it is necessary to conduct more in-depth research to find out how much impact the COVID-19 pandemic has on leading agricultural sub-sectors in South Sumatra Province. This study aims to determine the leading agricultural sub-sector before and during the COVID-19 pandemic in South Sumatra Province. This study uses secondary data in 2010-2021. The analysis applied in this study is the analysis of Location Quotient (LQ), Dynamic Location Quotient (DLQ), and a combination of analysis of Location Quotient (LQ) and Dynamic Location Quotient (DLQ). The plantation crops sub-sector and the forestry sub-sector are the base sectors. The food crops sub-sector, horticultural crop sub-sector, livestock sub-sector, and forestry sub-sector have a faster growth rate when compared to the same sub-sector at the national level. Only the forestry sub-sector is included in the classification of the leading sub-sector.

Farmers’ Perception Of The Implementation Of Farmer Cards Policy In Klaten Regency 农民对克拉伦斯县农民卡政策实施的观感

The Indonesian Farmer Cards is a government policy that aims to improve the distribution pattern of subsidized fertilizers. This study aims to determine the factors that influence farmers' perceptions of implementing the farmer card policy in the Klaten Regency. Klaten Regency was selected purposively as the research site because since the inception of Farmer Card policy, Klaten Regency has been designated as a pilot location for implementing the program. The data was collected by conducting surveys and interviews by using questionnaires. Moreover, ninety-two respondents were chosen by using a simple random sampling method. Data analysis employed the Likert scale to measure farmers' perceptions of the Farmer Card Policy. Farmers’ perceptions constituted two categories based on the weighting from the Likert scale. The first category refers to farmers that have a positive perception of the application of the Farmer Card and the second category represents farmers who have negative perceptions of the program implementation. The Likert scale in this study used to determine farmers' perceptions of the application of subsidized urea fertilizer distribution policies using farmer cards in Klaten Regency. Furthermore, logistic regression determined the factors influencing farmers' perceptions. The results showed that most farmers had positive perceptions. Four variables (experience, land area, time & convenience risk, and psychological risk) positively impact the farmers' perceptions of the Farmer Card. The other variables (urea allocation) negatively affect the farmers' perception of the Farmer Card Policy.

The Competitiveness of Indonesian Agricultural Products in G-20 Market 印尼农产品在g20市场的竞争力

Membership in the G-20 forum is both a threat and an opportunity for Indonesian agricultural commodities. Indonesia must be able to take advantage of this great opportunity to increase international trade activities, especially exports. Although the G-20 market is a potential market, Indonesia faces challenges because it is considered not ready to compete and threatened to become a market for other countries. In 2020, Indonesia's agricultural exports (HS 01-24) are in ninth place compared to its competitors in G-20 market. In order to increase the export share, the purpose of this study is to analyze the development of exports  from Indonesia to the G20 market and the competitiveness of agricultural products. The analyzes used are descriptive analysis, Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA), and Dynamic Revealed Comparative Advantage (DRCA). The results showed that 63.25% of the five selected agricultural export commodities had comparative competitiveness in the G-20 market. From the trend of increasing exports, several countries that become non-traditional markets have the potential as a market diversification destination, including Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Turkey, and Argentina. DRCA analysis shows that the dynamics of the G-20 market are quite large, and some of them are experiencing a decline. The strategy to increase exports to the G-20 market is to maintain the competitiveness of commodities in the rising star quadrant, as well as increase the competitiveness of commodities that are in the lagging opportunity and lost opportunity quadrant due to high global demand for these commodities.

REVEALED COMPARATIVE ADVANTAGE OF WATERMELON TRADE IN ASEAN 5 COUNTRIES 揭示了东盟五国西瓜贸易的比较优势

Watermelon Citrullus Lanatus (Thunb) is an important commercial fruit crop in ASEAN. One way to improve economic growth is through trade and comparative advantage. There are very some researches regarding with comparative advantage of watermelon trade in ASEAN. The purpose of this article is to determine the comparative advantage of watermelon trade in five ASEAN member countries. This article uses secondary data only. Watermelon trade data covering the six years period 2014-2019 were obtained from the United Nations Commodity Trade Statistics Database. This article applies the original index of the revealed comparative advantage (RCA) and revealed symmetric comparative advantage (RSCA) to find out the level of comparative advantage of watermelon commodity. Results show that Lao Peoples Democratic Republic, Myanmar and Viet Nam have a comparative advantage of watermelon trade in the global market. This study suggests that ASEAN 5 member nations should try to maintain its comparative advantage of watermelon exports in the international market.

One way to improve economic growth is through trade and comparative advantage. There are very some researches regarding with comparative advantage of watermelon trade in ASEAN. The purpose of this article is to determine the comparative advantage of watermelon trade in five ASEAN member countries. This article uses secondary data only. Watermelon trade data covering the six years period 2014-2019 were obtained from the United Nations Commodity Trade Statistics Database. This article applies the original index of the revealed comparative advantage (RCA) and revealed symmetric comparative advantage (RSCA) to find out the level of comparative advantage of watermelon commodity. Results show that Lao Peoples Democratic Republic, Myanmar and Viet Nam have a comparative advantage of watermelon trade in the global market. Decision-Making Process Of Corporate-Farming Innovation In Bantul Regency 班图尔县企业农业创新的决策过程

Corporate farming is an agricultural innovation to answer narrow land tenure problems due to widespread land conversion and land fragmentation. The principle of corporate farming is land consolidation with one joint management. This research attempts to determine the decision-making process for corporate farming innovation in Bantul Regency, using an exploratory approach with the Social Network Analysis (SNA) method and ego-centered network analysis. The ego in this study is the innovator and chairman of the corporate farming team. The results of the study were presented in a sociogram using Pajek software. The actors involved in the corporate farming innovation decision-making process are the head of farmer groups, administrators, team leaders, member farmers, Bantul Regency Agricultural Service, local extension agents, and stakeholders including the Research Team of the UGM Faculty of Agriculture, Bank Indonesia Regional DIY, and BPTP DIY. The introduction stage was carried out in a farmer group meeting, and the UGM Faculty of Agriculture Research Team acts as the innovator. It is followed by the persuasion stage, which explains the benefits of implementing corporate farming during subsequent farmer group meetings. The decision stage is indicated by providing direction, assistance, and financial support, which relied on group agreement to commit corporate farming. The farmer groups’ heads dominated the persuasion stage, the decision stage, and the implementation stage. The differences between corporate farming and individual farming lie in some aspects, such as working together rather than individual work, semi-organic cultivation systems, and optimizing the use of agricultural machinery. At the confirmation stage, 62% of informants disagree to continue corporate farming due to significant drops in production yields. The change in the cultivation system from chemical to semi-organic is one reason for the decline in production.Keywords: corporate farming, ego-centered network, decision-making process, social network analysis

Asymmetric Information, Transaction Costs, and Farmers Decision To Participate In Tobacco Voor-Oogst Kasturi Contract Farming 信息不对称、交易成本与农民参与烟草Voor Oost-Casturi合同农业的决策

Contracts participation between tobacco farmers and traders is still low even benefit of contract is huge. This is related to factors that affect to the contract, demographics, farm characteristic, and other related factors.  Contracts that initially became a tool to prevent market failure because it regulates how economic actors act against other, turns out to cause transaction costs as a result of asymmetric information that makes the contract does not function ideally. Therefore, this study attempts to explain asymmetry information during the transfer product and the potential transaction costs incurred using the New Institutional Economy approach. Beside that, this study also attemps to explain factors that underlie farmers decision making partnership, that were analized by using the analyst logistic regression.Respondents in this study were 100 respondents, 50 tobacco contract farmers, and 50 independent farmers from December 2018 through January 2019. The results showed that asymmetric information caused adverse selection and moral hazard, as many as 30% farmers had sold products to other parties and 8% of farmers had used pesticides that prohibited by traders. Contracts that are not ideal due to asymmetric information must be re-enforced by using additional costs called transaction costs which are divided into three typess, namely search and information costs, cost to design, negotiate and conclude and the monitor and contract enforcement costs. Monitoring costs have the potential to absorb the largest portion compared to other types of transaction costs. The greater the asymmetric information generated, the greater the transaction costs incurred. Then the factors that significantly influence the decision making of tobacco farmers to partnership are long time farming experience, land size, risk aversion level, certainty of price and source of capital.

Farmer Preference to High Elevation Rice Technological Packages for Accelerating Technological Dissemination (A case Study in Humbang Hasundutan Regency) 农民对高海拔水稻技术包的偏好促进技术传播(以洪邦哈桑都坦县为例)

Accelerating the introduction of a new technological package is needed to increase the productivity of high elevation puddled rice in Humbang Hasundutan. The objectives of the study are to find out the perception of the existence of technological packages and farmers' preference for a new technological package. The study used a survey method with primary data gathered using questionnaires. The criteria of locations and respondents were used to obtain relevant respondents and data concerning their knowledge of high elevation puddled rice cultivation.  The collected data were processed by using Importance Performance Analysis in order to find out the level of Importance and Satisfaction of the indicators and the valued aspects in the technological package components. The results of the study showed that the socio-economic aspects had to be heeded in organizing the technological package. Indicators having a high level of importance and a low level of satisfaction consisted of production cost, quality of seeds, farmer groups empowerment, technology information institution, capital cost, agricultural tools and machines, pest control, sales price, irrigation canals, and farm roads. On the other hand, introducing new superior seeds, productivity attribute and planting age were important indicators for local farmers as to improve the quality of existing seeds. Farmers group expected that the technological package had a high level of productivity, better access to input, low cost, and good user-friendliness in its application.

Factor Analysis on Rice Product Labels as a Consideration for Consumer's Purchase Decision In Yogyakarta 日惹大米产品标签的因素分析及消费者购买决策

Rice is one of the staple foods consumed by most Indonesians causes rice products to grow in line with consumer demand. As a widely consumed product, rice production labeling is a concern following the latest health issues. Labels are expected to provide useful information in determining products to be purchased by consumers, so it is necessary to know the information that consumers expect. This study aims to determine the attributes on the label that consumers consider when making purchasing decisions. The online questionnaire was filled in by 125 random respondents in Yogyakarta City and Sleman Regency, considering the current conditions (the Covid-19 pandemic). Determination of the factors taken into consideration using the Confirmatory Factor Analyze (CFA) method and appropriate statistical tools were used to analyze the data. The results showed that 74% of the respondents purchased labeled rice products in the last month. As many as 98.65% of respondents who bought labeled rice read the labels before making a purchase decision, and 78.38% considered labeling rice products important. Two factors are considered when making a purchasing decision: product specifications (price and production code) and product quality (organic labeling, net weight, nutritional content, BPOM registration number, and SNI label).
