This article describes its author’s State Fire Service Officer questionnaire results. The research topic is unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) usage during service in this formation. The State Fire Service’s statutory tasks are threats reconnaissance and rescue tasks during natural disasters. Some State Fire Service units are equipped with UAVs and use them to their full capabilities. Unmanned systems are increasingly employed by many institutions and the state. Unmanned aerial vehicles can be used in search and rescue operations, waste control, or environmental monitoring. The current possibilities of unmanned aviation are very extensive and often save lives. The numerous impacts of unmanned aviation during the COVID-19 pandemic began with their enormous potential and wide scope of operation. Recognition, effective monitoring and further development of UAVs have a significant impact on improving state security. Research results prove undoubtedly that UAV’s role in State Fire Service is beneficial, especially during missing person search and firefighting actions. Because of the cyclical character of crises in Poland, it is necessary to equip State Fire Service units with tools like UAVs to fight various threats.

The aim of the study conducted for the purposes of this paper was to explore the scale, causes and directions of Polish outward migration (beyond national borders) after Poland’s accession to the European Union in 2004, as well as to assess the impact of its increase on the economic security of the country. The subject of the study was the phenomenon of Polish outward migration after 2004. A theoretical research method was applied in the research process – source analysis (using content analysis technique) of literature, strategic documents, and statistics. The study shows that the main directions of outward migration of Poles after 2004 are the United Kingdom, Germany and Ireland, and the most important reasons for this migration include favourable economic conditions in these countries and the presence of Polish migrants who arrived there earlier.

The article aims to present a part of the research results on implementing the management function in selected libraries of Polish military higher education institutions concerning the planning function. In an organization such as a scientific library, planning is the most crucial management function, especially in such a specific one as a military university library. The analysis of information infrastructure factors made it possible to evaluate the implementation of individual management functions in the analyzed military libraries, including the planning function as the most important for information resources management. The assessment of the implementation of the planning function shows significant implications that may contribute to the optimization of information infrastructure management in a modern military higher education institution library.

The article addresses the application of software defined radios (SDR) on modern battlefields. Above all, it focuses on the application of the SDR technology in communication with unmanned aerial vehicles. It also reviews some solutions applied in the armed forces of Finland, United States, Poland, Turkey, and Israel. It outlines the potential of these solutions and considers the main direction of development of the SDR technology, which is the cognitive radio.

Great Britain is perceived as a traditional immigrant country. In relation to Poland, the process of immigration to the British Isles – especially for economic purposes – intensified after 2004, with the accession to the European Union. The perception of immigrants in the UK began to change in the first months after the referendum on Brexit, when there was an increase in hate crimes, mainly xenophobic crimes. The article presents the subject of Polish economic immigrants in the United Kingdom. Based on their own research conducted among Poles living in Leicester, the authors describe the perception of this group, taking into account positive and negative features of Poles, stereotypes associated therewith or the problem of discrimination (including language discrimination).

Military units are the fundamental elements of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland (Polish abbrev. SZ RP). As part of the state defense system, they implement tasks resulting from the National Security Strategy of the Republic of Poland and the Defense Strategy of the Republic of Poland. The units carrying out tasks for the defense of the state must be adequately equipped, and the infrastructure they have is efficient. To ensure its proper functioning, investments carried out on the premises of military units are necessary. Tasks in this regard are possible thanks to the Regional Infrastructure Boards (Polish abbrev. RZI) supervised by the Ministry of National Defense. They deal with the management of military real estate, investment, renovation, and equipping real estate with the necessary infrastructure. There are ten RZIs in Poland. Out of ten, eight are Regional Infrastructure Boards; the other two are the Military Infrastructure Board in Poznań (WZI) and the Capital Infrastructure Board in Warsaw (SZI). Expending public funds for the implementation of tasks entrusted to Regional Infrastructure Boards should be carried out following the procedures compliant with the Public Procurement Law. The research presented in the publication aims to identify differences and similarities in tenders carried out by two selected RZIs in Zielona Góra and Bydgoszcz in 2014-2017.

The article is an attempt to highlight the main types of security threats in cyberspace. As literature provides a multitude of different approaches, standards, methodologies, and proposals for the classification of threats, the article focuses on threats to privacy and national ICT security. Cyberspace is subject to increasingly sophisticated and targeted threats, while our growing reliance on cyberspace exposes our privacy to risks, giving rise to new and significant security gaps. Due to its specific characteristics, it generates serious threats to individuals as well as to national and international security. Depending on the research perspective we adopt, these threats are variable, multidimensional, and multifaceted in nature. Therefore, they require systematic analysis and response.

In the article, the subject of considerations is the effects of actions of the National Institute of Cultural Heritage in selected areas of monument protection and care in the years 2015-2019. The undertaken subject corresponds to the protection of cultural heritage in the context of strengthening the cultural security of the Republic of Poland. The purpose of the considerations is to present the results of the activities of the National Institute of Cultural Heritage in the system of protection and care of monuments in Poland, in the years 2015-2019, taking into account selected areas of task implementation by the cultural institution under study. The analysis is based on statistical data published by the National Institute of Cultural Heritage (hereinafter referred to as NID) in periodic and annual reports on the activities of the institution, in additional reports, as well as on scientific literature on the protection and care of historical monuments. In the article, it was established that NID has carried out numerous activities for the protection and care of monuments, and thus the protection of cultural heritage in the context of strengthening the cultural security of the Republic of Poland. The main areas of activities of NID concerned maintaining records and documentation of monuments, monitoring and counteracting threats to cultural heritage, as well as performance of training and information tasks. Opinions and expertise issued for public administration bodies and the implementation of programmes for the protection and care of monuments were important.

The article presents characteristics of the conducted research on the functioning of a human in a threatening situation and the security of a human individual. The research falls within the strand of military psychology, which has empirical traditions. Although the human psyche has been dealt with somehow in all eras and cultures, the systematic accumulation of empirical knowledge in this field began only in the 19th century as a part of the fascination with science, which can be primarily associated with the development of medical science. A specific role in the intensification of human interest in that issue was also played by socio-economic processes, which led to the development of many scientific disciplines and, through them, academic centres. In the second half of the 19th century, the state of knowledge was strongly influenced by advancements in various fields of practical (empirical) sciences and the humanities. In France, Germany, and the British Isles, attempts to interpret such, and not other, human conduct and types of activity, as well as causal forces, factors, and motives, increasingly appeared in scientific literature and widespread transmission.

The paper presents a method of solving a fire mission by rocket artillery subunits involving the determination of settings on the basis of complete data on firing conditions (predicted fire). This is the primary means of determining the settings for effective fire in rocket artillery. The paper describes how to: fill out a sheet of calculated corrections, draw up a chart of cumulative corrections, solve a geometric task using a calculator, use the chart of cumulative corrections to determine range and directional corrections and prepare a firing command. The article provides commentary and identifies the most common errors made at each stage of solving the mission.
