For animal reproduction, artificial insemination has become a need. Semen preservation has been crucial in artificial insemination as it can determine the success of fertilization and pregnancy. Semen extenders have been critical in prolonging the usability of semen while also retaining its viability, motility, and integrity so that it can be used to fertilize female animals. Due to its nutritional and chemical qualities that can create an environment for spermatozoa to survive and thrive before insemination, coconut water has been the focus of various research addressing its effect on semen preservation. These studies have shown that coconut water has the potential to be an effective semen extender due to its ability to protect the semen during cooling and cryopreservation. Coconut water also includes nutrients (water, sugars, proteins, salts, and vitamins) to help spermatozoa thrive in a healthy environment. However, its performance lags that of commercial extenders, but it can be a less expensive alternative or replacement when commercial extenders are unavailable.

White egg contains the most significant protein source that has been explored to give more benefit for health purposes. This study evaluated the potential of antibacterial and antioxidant activity of white egg protein hydrolysate extracted from Indonesian avian eggs. The avian egg materials used local Indonesian chicken eggs (kampung chicken), chicken breed eggs, duck eggs, and muscovy duck eggs. The white egg was extracted by organic solvent and produced protein extracted which was dominated by ovalbumin and ovotransferrin. The protein extracted was hydrolyzed by pepsin and then powdered using a freeze dryer. Antibacterial and antioxidant activity was evaluated by agar well diffusion technique and 2,2-Diphenyl-1-picryl hydroxyl (DPPH) radical scavenging method. All samples showed antimicrobial activity against Salmonella sp., Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus cereus, and Bacillus subtilis with a concentration of protein hydrolysate at 40 mg/mL. The antioxidant activity between avian species was different and dose-dependent. Protein hydrolysate extracted from duck white egg exhibited the highest radical scavenging activity (65%) at 10 mg/mL concentration. However, all white egg protein hydrolysate extracted from Indonesian avian eggs can potentially help reduce oxidation and microbial deterioration.

Chicken eggs are a staple food with a high enough animal protein content, but the price is quite affordable for all levels of society. This causes the consumption of chicken eggs to be relatively high compared to other animal protein sources, but currently, the amount of production and consumption by the public is not comparable; besides that, the price offered is constantly fluctuating. This study aims to determine price fluctuations and price movement patterns of broiler chicken eggs in Bengkulu Province. The data used is secondary data. The research method uses quantitative descriptive analysis. The research results show that. The risk of fluctuations in the price of broiler eggs in Bengkulu Province has a slightly higher risk for prices at the producer level when compared to prices at the consumer level. The development pattern of broiler egg prices in Bengkulu Province generally shows a positive direction. Fluctuations in the price of broiler eggs occur in specific periods. These fluctuations occur because they coincide with religious holidays such as Ramadan, Eid al-Fitr, Christmas and New Year, the influence of the Russia-Ukraine war, and economic problems due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Humate substances (HSs) are raw materials very easy to obtain and are naturally occurring organic molecules found in soil due to the humification of dead organic components. Traditionally used as conventional medicine in China and India and as soil fertilizer in agriculture. Humic acids are widely utilized as feed additives and could enhance ruminant performance. The effect of humic acid on feed intake depends on the level of supplementation, a humic acid source, experimental animals used and the region experimented. Humic acid also increases the average daily gain, and sometimes increases feed digestibility and feed efficiency in goats, cows and cattle. Enhancement of milk yield, total solids, fat-corrected milk (FCM), and energy but does not influence milk composition. That supplementation also lowers blood cholesterol, excluding eosinophil and neutrophil, without affecting the haematological value. HSs also have anti-bacterial properties and HSs affect gut microbiota and rumen, such as increasing fungi counts and pH alteration, but the effect on bacteria and the protozoal population is non-consistent. In other trials, HSs have also been shown to reduce the process of methanogenesis.

The study aims to know the effect of different starters on the quality production of organic fertilizer. Three kinds of starters, EM-4 (P1), BM-4 (P2), and Petroganic (P3), were used in this study. The quality of organic fertilizer with a starter for the 28th day of composting was evaluated by physical and chemical parameters in triplicates. Based on the results, we showed the physical parameters of treatment compost P1, P2, and P3 are blackish brown, didn’t smell of stool, and are crumbly textured. The chemical parameters showed the content of C-organic from the treatments was 42.51%, 39.19%, and 35.74%, respectively, at the end of the composting process, while total nitrogen content was 4.71%, 9.47%, and 5.77%. The C/N ratio of each treatment, P1, P2, and P3, was 9.02, 4.17, and 6.20, while the total phosphor content was 0.092%, 0.15%, and 0.13%, respectively. Next, the total potassium content was 0.69%, 0.79%, and 0.77%, respectively, at the end of the composting process. The addition of different types of starters did not affect physical and chemical quality. In conclusion, EM-4, BM-4, and Petroganik can be used as alternative starters in producing organic fertilizer.

One of the variants of native chicken that is quite potential to be developed in Indonesia is the KUB chicken. The quality and production of free-range chicken eggs can be increased by providing quality feed. One alternative source of quality feed is the use of Indigofera zollingeriana leaves. This study aims to determine the increase in egg production and internal quality by adding Indigofera zollingeriana Leaf Flour (ILF) in KUB chicken rations. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 5 treatments, namely R0 (control), R1 (7.5% ILF), R2 (15.0% ILF), R3 (22.25% ILF), and R4 (30.0% ILF) and 6 replicates. Observation parameters include Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR), egg production, egg weight, Hen Day Production (HDP), and internal egg quality. The results showed that adding ILF significantly increased production, internal egg quality, and ration conversion but had no significant effect on ration consumption. The highest increase in egg production was obtained by treatment with 15% and 22.5% ILF, with HDP 53.87%. The increase in egg weight quality, egg yolk index, white egg index, and egg yolk color were highest in the treatment with 30% ILF compared to the control. Giving ILF 22.5% gave the lowest FCR value compared to other treatments. It was concluded that providing ILF in the ration significantly increased egg production and internal quality in KUB chickens.

This study aimed to identify the genotype of the gene Pituitary-specific transcription factor 1 (Pit-1) in Bali cattle (Bos sondaicus). A total of 20 cows Bali (13 males and 7 females) were used in this study. DNA samples isolated from blood samples using phenol-chloroform extraction method (Sambrook et al., 1989). This study using PCR-RFLP method. Amplification of specific DNA fragments (size 451 bp, intron regions stretching from 4 to exon 6) of the Pit-1 gene Bali cattle samples was performed using a pair of specific primers (forward: 5'-AAA-CCA-TCA-TCT-CCC-TTC-TT -3 ', and reverse: 5'-AAT-GTA-CAA-TGT-GCC-TTC-TGA-G-3'). Based on the results of RFLP analysis/HinfI was found that all of Bali cattle research resulted banding pattern uniform (monomorphic), the band size 244 bp and 207 bp, and the band patterns thus identified as genotype BB, so it is known that the frequency of A and B alleles at 0 and 1. The frequency of A allele was not found in Bali cattle (Bos sondaicus) showed a significant difference with other cattle breeds (Bos taurus and Bos indicus).

Based on the results of RFLP analysis/HinfI was found that all of Bali cattle research resulted banding pattern uniform (monomorphic), the band size 244 bp and 207 bp, and the band patterns thus identified as genotype BB, so it is known that the frequency of A and B alleles at 0 and 1. The frequency of A allele was not found in Bali cattle (Bos sondaicus) showed a significant difference with other cattle breeds (Bos taurus and Bos indicus).","PeriodicalId":33136,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Sain Peternakan Indonesia","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41598103","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
