Objective: To determinate, the prevalence of malocclusions in mixed dentition of children from 6 to 12 years of age, from two schools in the city of Quito- Ecuador. Materials and methods : through visual observation, 143 children were examined with respect to the type of occlusion. The identification data of the participants about specific questions about the most frequent habits were collected in previously prepared files, the data were subjected to descriptive and statistics test. Results : the descriptive analysis showed that only 17% of the children had the characteristics of a normal occlusion, the remaining 83% had some type of malocclusion. Within the malocclusion, labial suction was the most prevalent with 16,1% of the entire sample. Class I molar and canine was the most frequent. Class molar I and canine was the most frequent. Chi square analysis determined that there is no dependency relationship between the type of habit and the prevalence of anterior open bite (p=0,69), whit a slightly higher proportion when considering labial suction. Conclusion : The prevalence of malocclusions in the studied population was high, being the habit of lip suction the most prevalent.

Early Childhood Caries (ECC) is considered a public health problem; when it is not treated in a timely manner, the disease progresses to a severe level. Currently there are many studies on the prevalence and risk factors of ECC, but little on the issue of Severe Early Childhood Caries (S-ECC). The present review article evaluates the different factors that have been related to S-ECC, in recent years, grouped into three major areas: host, microorganism and substrate. A search was made in the LILACS, Medline and Elsevier database; from the year 2010 with the keywords Caries of Severe Early Childhood, risk factors, Severe Early Childhood Caries and risk factors

Characterize children from 6 years of age in primary schools belonging to the health area of the Policlinico Docente "30 November". Methods: He was an observational study descriptive and cross-sectional aiming to. The universe was composed of 83 children whose dental care is carried out in the Department of Stomatology of the Policlinico teacher "30 de Noviembre", in the period between June of 2017 and 2018 April. The data was an interview structured to parents or guardians, in order to obtain data accurate and verified, using as a summary measure the percentage and reflecting the data in contingency tables. He was the oral test to children using the tongue depressor and natural or artificial light. Results: The study dominated the female sex. The most practiced disfiguring habits were postural habits and digital suction. Conclusions: Most found anomaly was one-sided after reversed occlusion. Taking into account this recommended expanding research in other schools, since these results alert us to the need to intercept the tooth interference from an early age.

In the treatment of a malocclusion class II division 1 to designate a specific treatment we have to take notice the age of the patient to consider a redirection of the maxilar complex also the use of appliances for nocive habits like thumb sucking. In this paper presents the case of a 9-year-old patient, with malocclusion II division 1, treated with headgear and a palatal crib.. Skeletal, facial and dental changes were observed.

Objective: To determine, the multipotentiality of the cell population of human dental pulp by flow cytometry. Materials and methods: A descriptive, cross-sectional and prospective study was carried out in the cell population of 04 teeth of patients who attended at the Dental Center of the University of San Martin de Porres. The patients were informed of the present study and signed the voluntary donation consent of their extracted teeth. The sample was the human dental pulp isolated by enzymatic disintegration and analyzed by flow cytometry using the markers CD90, CD105, CD45, CD34, CD117, CD11b, CD3. Results: The ranks obtained from the positive markers for mesenchymal stem cells were, for CD90 (57.25% -66.21%), the CD105 marker was (2.69%-21.59%) and negative (0%) to the CD45 markers, CD34, CD11b, CD3, CD117. For cell viability, the range obtained from the 7-AAD marker was (77.11% -96.41%). Conclusions: The cell population of the human dental pulp presents multipotential expression with different percentages.

Diabetes is one of the most frequent pathologies with repercussions at the systemic level, irreversible and with high prevalence in the world. Currently in Ecuador, there is an average of 800,000 diabetics, of whom 100,000 are in treatment, according to health authorities and the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation of Ecuador. This review seeks to update knowledge in the area of health, both in medicine and in dentistry, forcing us to have a review of current data on the relationship between periodontal disease and type II diabetes mellitus, and how These two pathologies can go hand in hand and affect the oral and systemic environment, relating them to the histological changes and chemical mediators in the oral environment that are accentuated by the presence of periodontal disease and diabetes, whether controlled or not. Databases were revised in Pubmed and ScIELO bibliographic sources, placing as time limits from 2016 to 2017, using as key words "oral cavity", "diabetes", "periodontal disease" and its similar in English, 74 articles were obtained, of which 12 were selected that were analyzed and served as the basis for the execution of this review. After the exhaustive review of the articles, most of the studies reviewed (7 articles), reported a relationship between the two pathologies, which go hand in hand, accentuating in older people. It is concluded that between periodontal disease and type II diabetes there is a close relationship, obtaining a higher prevalence of periodontal disease, inflammatory cells in the presence of type II diabetes with poor glycemic control.

Malocclusions are buccodental alterations of multiple etiology. According to the World Health Organization occupy the third place of prevalence within oral health problems, which makes them of great importance. They will not only affect oral functionality and aesthetics in the person, but also influence the psychosocial aspect. Everything that exists as a consequence of the quality of life of each person is affected. The objective of this literature review is to show how the qua lity of life has been altered by malocclusions.

Endodontic therapy is not free from complications such as perforations at different levels, with furcation associated with cameral opening; however, the use of Bioceramic cements at present allows predictable results. We present a case of a lower left first molar with asymptomatic irreversible pulpitis and apical periodontitis with the complication of perforation of the chamber floor, sealing it after the end of the root canal treatment with Biodentine TM.

Aim: To determine the prevalence of three canals in the mesial root of the first permanent mandibular molars, of patients who come for root canal treatment at the dental clinic of the Equinoctial Technological University, Quito, Ecuador from January 2013 to December 2017. Materiales and Methods : A descriptive observational study is presented, in a sample of 55 clinical histories of patients with root canal treatment at the dental clinic of the Health Sciences faculty "Eugenio Espejo" of the Equinoctial Technological University, between January 2013 to December 2017. After a review of the medical records of patients treated during this period of time and inclusion criteria, the selected radiographs were examined in a negatoscope with the help of a magnifying glass, by a single person trained in reading images and with experience in endodontic treatments. The findings were reported in specially developed Excel tables, for later statistical analysis, through the SPSS program.
