La industria de curtiembres genera una alta carga de contaminante representada por residuos líquidos y sólidos, entre los residuos sólidos la disposición final de los lodos del tratamiento de aguas residuales representa un serio inconveniente en términos de manejo, tiempo de procesamiento y costo de disposición final. Se evaluó un sistema de centrifugación con tela filtrante con el objeto de analizar una alternativa que permita reducir el tiempo de tratamiento, costo y buscar obtener beneficios ambientales para el sector curtidor. Los materiales filtrantes fueron 5 tipos de telas (cambre, madre selva, jean, militar y gladiador) y se determinó que la resistencia a la filtración que ofrece cada material no es significativa, por otra parte, el lodo producto del tratamiento de agua residuales de pelambre ofrece alta resistencia a la separación sólido/agua (r= 7,0179E+13 s²/kg) y por lo tanto un bajo alcance de filtración (Y= 0,000413 kg/m²*h), hecho que hace que un sistema de centrifugación para este tipo de lodo requiera de una considerable área y alto consumo energético.

El objetivo de este ensayo es describir el desarrollo histórico del cooperativismo mundial y sus formas de organización y principios básicos sobre los que se asienta. Se presenta una breve descripción de los principales pensadores que contribuyeron al desarrollo y fortalecimiento del cooperativismo como forma alternativa de organización empresarial, que permite su supervivencia en el sistema capitalista, mientras conserva sus principios de solidaridad y justicia social. Se concluye que es posible una relación entre el cooperativismo y el desarrollo económico de las sociedades debido a que el cooperativismo es un sistema catalizador de la vida en sociedad y no sólo una simple forma de empresa. Mediante este ensayo se espera hacer una contribución para el replanteamiento y reconsideración del cooperativismo como forma de desarrollo social y económico en Latinoamérica.

El presente trabajo se desarrolló en el contexto de la vinculación con la sociedad, mediante la coordinación entre el Municipio del Cantón Mejía- Ecuador, la Universidad de las Fuerzas Armadas-ESPE y la Asociación de Recicladores de Desarrollo Social Romerillos. Se plantearon como objetivos el mejoramiento de las condiciones laborales del personal de la Asociación, la capacitación del personal, el mantenimiento de equipo existente y el planteamiento de un proceso para agregar valor a las actividades que realizan. Estos objetivos se lograron a través de estrategias del manejo de residuos inorgánicos reciclables acordes a las necesidades, recursos y cultura de la comunidad. Como resultados de este proceso se obtuvo al personal de la Asociación de Recicladores capacitados en Seguridad y Salud Ocupacional, en base a normas de la legislación ecuatoriana, , la implementación de soluciones tecnológicas para el correcto funcionamiento y empleo de la maquinaria existente, garantizando su operatividad y disponibilidad, y se brindó una alternativa para dar valor agregado al proceso de reciclaje de los residuos plásticos específicamente el PET (polietileno tereftalato) y el PEHD (polietileno de alta densidad) mediante la elaboración de ecopostes

The sustainable development agenda of the United Nations aims to ensure affordable energy for all and to diminish greenhouse gas emissions in order to mitigate the effects of climate change. A way to achieve these goals is by the substitution of fossil fuels with biofuels. This study compares three Andean countries: Colombia, Ecuador and Peru, in terms of bioethanol blending mandates current scenario and its sustainability. For this analysis, a review of the state of the art of first and second generation bioethanol in the three countries were developed, including a social network analysis to understand the interactions that have enhanced or delayed the achievement of their blending objectives as countries. So far, Colombia is near to reach its blending target; Ecuador has recorded a bioethanol deficit, estimated at 75%; and regarding Peru, in the last years they have achieved their national target. In addition to blending mandates, the countries appear not to rely on a sustainability policy for the development of first or second generation bioethanol. Furthermore, these Andean countries are planning to increase their blending targets. In order to achieve this, political efforts must be focused on feedstock availability as well as on the development of guidelines related to sustainability and technologies to be applied in their own context.

This paper analyses different options that can be used to solve the problem of the planning of power distribution networks by including capacitive compensation and distributed generation. The methodology for planning aims to determine the size of the units, the bus where the units have to be located, and the year in which investments should be made, in order to minimize the total energy losses on the network during the planning period. The work analyses four different cases: planning using neither capacitive compensation (SC) nor distributed generation (DG), planning using only SC, planning using only DG, and planning using reactive compensation and distributed generation simultaneously. Results show that simultaneous use of SC and DG reduce the total energy losses and improve the voltage profiles on the network, so good results for the planning are obtained.

Distributed Energy Resources (DER) have been a fundamental part of the inclusion of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) in the generation and distribution system. This work shows an exhaustive review of the different approaches that the authors have developed when implementing BESS in DER, its scope and applications in different environments, observing that the most covered topics are Smart Grid (SG), Distributed Generation (DG), Energy Storage (ES) and where little information is found on the topics of Electric Vehicles (EV), Advanced Measurement (AM) and Demand Response (DR), this is to give an overview of the progress the authors have had and it allows to know in which field of application less information is found, facilitating the search for new researchers.

Este artículo tiene como objetivo mostrar el detalle del Standard IEEE 1459-2010 para sistemas monofásicos. Este Standard tiene como objetivo cuantificar la potencia de los sistemas eléctricos; sin embargo, no muestra el detalle de la deducción de las ecuaciones partiendo del esquema circuital. Por lo que la contribución deeste documento es la deducción paso a paso de las ecuaciones partiendo de los voltajes y corrientes del sistema. La deducción se realiza tanto para sistemas monofásicos lineales como para sistemas monofásicos no lineales. Se presenta el detalle del cálculo para la potencia activa, reactiva y aparente y también el cálculo del factor de potencia como de la distorsión armónica.

Hoy en día los videojuegos son más que una forma de entretenimiento, ocio o simplemente ocupar el tiempo, su uso y aplicación en diferentes contextos ha sido una revolución, ya que se han vuelto una herramienta en diferentes sectores: industria, redes sociales, salud y educación. La educación en Colombia ha tenido cambios significativos, una búsqueda constante de instrumentos y metodologías que permitan al estudiante desarrollar sus conocimientos y creatividad, es por esto que las instituciones educativas han optado por nuevas formas de transmitir la información y los conocimientos a los estudiantes: así, los videojuegos entran a ser parte fundamental del proceso educativo, ya que por medio de estos, los conceptos y argumentos son más fáciles de aprender, de acuerdo al contexto.

This document analyzes the efforts made to the human femur through a simulation of finite elements in Solidworks, in order to carry out the design of the femur in this study, the average height of the population of Malaysia were used, which is similar to that of the average Colombian population (Table 1.) and for the tests, a material with the same mechanical characteristics was simulated in the program of the human cortical bone, permitting a more approximate visualization of stresses and deformations to which the femur is exposed in the usual state and thus, identify the critical areas in which the probability of fracture or wear is greater, the results of this analysis do not apply For women in a state of pregnancy or people with osteoarthritic diseases. This analysis is important to identify which are the areas that present greater deterioration, considering that the bones lose their property of self-recovery over the years increasing the probability of presenting a fracture, having this information clear the prosthetic studies and medical treatments focused on the femur can be deepened. In this analysis, it can be identified that the male femur has greater resistance to tension and deformation than the female femur and how the femoral head is the most critical area of both the female and male fêmur.

En este artículo se aborda la problemática de los vertimientos de aguas residuales generados por la industria de la construcción en Colombia. Se presenta una breve síntesis de la normativa aplicable, estimación de consumos, tecnologías disponibles, tratamientos y uso de subproductos, impacto en la huella ecológica y buenas prácticas. El propósito es recomendar a este sector que genere conocimiento propio sobre su gestión a nivel de producción y tratamiento de aguas en sus procesos, que le permita retroalimentar a partes interesadas como: comunidad y gobierno, y responder a sus demandas de manera más eficiente.
