Standardization for Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces: Progresses, Challenges and the Road Ahead 可重构智能表面的标准化:进展、挑战和未来的道路

As a key technology of 5G advanced networks, the reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RISs) have received widespread attention in the academia and the industry. To provide insights on the application scenarios and standardization roadmap of future-oriented RISs, we analyze characteristics of RISs and summarize white papers, projects and standardization efforts related to RISs. The difficulties and challenges in RIS research and standardization are also analyzed and our forecast on the roadmap of standardization on RIS is given accordingly.

Spatial Modulation Based MIMO-OTFS Transmissions 基于MIMO-OTFS传输的空间调制

Orthogonal time frequency space (OTFS) is a novel modulation scheme designed in delay-Doppler domain, which shows a strong Doppler-resilience over doubly-dispersive channels. The interaction between delay-Doppler channel and OTFS symbols allows a linear scaling of capacity with the multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) order and simultaneously enables significant spectral efficiency improvements over traditional multicarrier modulations such as orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM). In this paper, we investigate the use of spatial modulation (SM) in MIMO-OTFS systems. With the structure of SM-OTFS, the overall spectral efficiency is increased by the base-two logarithm of the number of transmit antennas at least. We demonstrate that such an SM-OTFS system can achieve a higher spectral efficiency than space-time coded OTFS (STC-OTFS) while demand a lower detection complexity. Extensive simulations are carried out under various delay and Doppler conditions, our simulation results demonstrate significant performance gains of SM-OTFS compared to STC-OTFS with various MIMO settings.

Hybrid Beamforming for DFRC System Based on SINR Performance Metric 基于信噪比性能度量的DFRC系统混合波束形成

Dual-functional radar-communication (DFRC) is a promising solution to simultaneously implement radar detection and communication. To further reduce the hardware cost, the hybrid analog-digital (HAD) beamforming problem on DFRC system is investigated in this paper. Specifically, the problem is to maximize the SINR of radar receiver under the non-convex individual SINR constraints of communication users (CUs) while guaranteeing the constant modulus constraints of analog beamformer. To solve this problem, we propose an iteration algorithm, which optimizes digital and analog beamformer iteratively. Both digital and analog beamforming designs are formulated as non-convex quadratically constrained quadratic programs (QCQPs), and we use semidefinite relaxation (SDR) and feasible point pursuit successive convex approximation (FPP-SCA) techniques to solve them respectively. Finally, we evaluate the proposed algorithm by numerical simulations, which show that the performance of the proposed hybrid beamforming design is close to that of the full-digital beamforming.

Channel Replay Aided Modulation Classification of Underwater Acoustic Communication Signals 水声通信信号的信道重放辅助调制分类

Modulation classification or recognition of underwater acoustic (UWA) communication signals faces great difficulties due to the unpredictable characteristics of underwater acoustic channels as well as lack of training data. As traditional feature-based methods work poorly in such scenarios, resurgent artificial neural networks are gaining more attentions in the area of automatic modulation classification. Deep learning, however, demands large amount of training data for good recognition performance. To address the problem of insufficient training data, we propose to adopt the channel replay technique. With this technique, channel realizations with the same statistical characteristics as the measured underwater acoustic channel, can be generated as much as one needs. Training and validation data sets can then be generated with the replayed channels. A residual network (ResNet) is adopted to achieve simultaneously feature extraction and modulation recognition. It is shown the proposed ResNet not only classifies artificial test data but also experimental data collected in an at-sea UWA communication trail.

5G Enabling Digital Transformation of Smart Grid: A Review of Pilot Projects and Prospect 5G实现智能电网数字化转型:试点项目回顾与展望

A highly stable and reliable power grid is the cornerstone of sustainable social development. After more than 10 years of technological development, smart grid has achieved remarkable social and economic benefits worldwide. The intelligentization of the power grid requires the integration of a variety of information and creates new value. Therefore, the update of communication technology is crucial to the development of the smart grid. More and more attention is being paid to 5G applications and pilots in smart grid. In the paper, we aim to: 1) briefly introduce the key features of 5G in smart grid applications; 2) provide an overview of the latest pilot projects; 3) summarize the development status of relevant technical standards and point out the direction of future standardization works. Finally, Section V provide a summary and some suggestion for future work.

Video Semantics based Resource Allocation Algorithm for Spectrum Multiplexing Scenarios in Vehicular Networks 基于视频语义的车载网络频谱复用资源分配算法

Due to the time-varying scenarios and multiple requirements in vehicular networks, it is difficult to guarantee the accuracy of video semantic understanding within the scarce spectrum resources. Existing resource allocation algorithms such as quality of service (QoS) based and quality of experience (QoE) based algorithms, respectively prone to optimize network performance and user experience, are no longer applicable to semantic understanding tasks. Furthermore, a recently proposed semantics based algorithm exclusively considers vehicle to infrastructure (V2I) video transmission tasks, regardless of the practical vehicular networks scenarios. To tackle the challenges above, we propose a video semantics based resource allocation model under the vehicle moving and spectrum multiplexing scenarios. On the ground of the time-dependent environment and diverse needs, multi-agent reinforcement learning, which peculiarly owns sequential decision and reward mechanism, is employed to obtain the optimal resource allocation scheme. Simulation results show the effectiveness of our proposed algorithm and its better performance than the traditional and existing semantics based algorithms.

In this paper, the Intelligent Reflecting Surface (IRS) is exploited to assist the simultaneous terahertz (THz) information and power transfer (STIPT) system. The information users’ (IUs’) sum-data rate is maximized while guaranteeing the energy users’ (EUs’) and IRS’s power harvesting requirements. The block coordinate descent (BCD) based algorithm is adopted to alternately optimize the transmit precoding of IUs, and IRS’s reflecting coefficients. Simulation results confirm that the proposed BCD algorithm can significantly enhance the performance of STIPT by employing IRS.

Analysis on Power Configuration in 5G Co-construction and Sharing Network 5G共建共享网络中的功率配置分析

The power allocation of the base station is a very important issue in the wireless communication system, which directly determines the network coverage, capacity and even the types of services that can be used. The power of the equipment sharing the network needs to be allocated to the networks of both operators at the same time, which may cause insufficient downlink power. Reasonable power configuration plays an important role in improving network service quality, reducing energy consumption, and effectively using limited network resources. Based on the networking scenario of two operators, 5G NSA Sharing network and certain load applied to the entire network, the influence of power configuration on uplink and downlink air interface performance is studied separately. In this paper, the experiments on air interface performance of RSRP and throughput were carried out under the co-construction and sharing network. The research on the impact of uplink power configuration on coverage was mainly conducted in the case of 30% loading, the 100W/150W outdoor DT and indoor CQT were carried out. The study on the influence of downlink power configuration on coverage was mainly conducted in the case of 30% and 50% loading, the 100W/150W/200W outdoor DT and indoor CQT were carried out separately.

User Cooperation for RIS-aided Secure SWIPT MIMO Systems under the passive eavesdropping 无源窃听下ris辅助安全SWIPT MIMO系统的用户协作

In this paper, reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) is proposed to enhance the physical layer security in the Rician fading channel where the angular direction of the eavesdropper is aligned with a legitimate user. In this scenario, we consider a two-phase communication system under the passive eavesdropping. Particularly, in the first phase, the base station avoids direct transmission to the attacked user. While, in the second phase, other users cooperate to forward signals to the attacked user with the help of RIS and energy harvesting technology. An average secrecy rate maximization problem is formulated, which is addressed by a low complexity algorithm. Numerical results show that the negative effect of the eavesdropper’s channel error is greater than that of the legitimate user.

Markov chain Monte Carlo Equalization for Single Carrier Underwater Acoustic Communications 单载波水声通信的马尔可夫链蒙特卡罗均衡

This paper provides an equalization based on Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) method for single carrier underwater acoustic (UWA) communications. The cluster-sparsity characteristics of UWA channels is considered, and the channel estimation is integrated into the MCMC equalizer to realize the joint channel estimation and symbol detection. Turbo equalization is also adopted to improve the performance. Experimental results show the BER of the proposed scheme can better or approach the direct-adaptive-based turbo equalization (DA-TEQ) schemes under two types of UWA channels. Compared with the DA-TEQ method, the MCMC-based method is not sensitive to the system parameters and has better robustness.
