The school sector still faces difficulties in enforcing adequate solid waste management. To address this issue, this study investigated the level of awareness and practices on solid waste management among intermediate elementary pupils. To do so, this study employed the quantitative research design using descriptive and correlational methods. Using stratified random sampling, primary data were gathered through the use of printed survey questionnaires addressed to one hundred eighty-six (186) respondents who are intermediate elementary pupils. In addressing the hypotheses of the study, correlation analysis using Spearman’s RHO test was used. The data showed high levels of awareness, particularly regarding environmental care and resource utilization. The practices were rated high, with segregation being very high. The Spearman rho correlation showed a moderately positive association between awareness and waste management practices. Based on the findings, the researchers recommended creating a school symposium on solid waste management and core values, implementing a “Basura Mo, Pagkakitaan Mo” program for proper disposal, and conducting a comparative study on the difference of performance between males and females in terms of awareness and practices on solid waste management. Keywords: elementary pupils, solid waste management, descriptive-correlation, Philippines

A plethora of literature and studies recognized the positive impact of computer literacy on learners’ academic performance. It is considered a backbone of sound academic performance. As one of the skills required in the 21st century, every learner should have equal access to resources and skills development. Thus, this study aimed to provide equal opportunity to learners to access digital learning resources and skills development relevant to computer literacy. Thirty students participated in the conduct of Project BASICS – Beginners’ Aid from School that Imparts Computer Skills. However, only 28 were recognized as subjects in this experimental study through simple random sampling, while the remaining two were considered blind respondents. To determine the effect of the computer literacy program, the computer knowledge application was diagnosed, and a pretest and posttest were administered before and after the implementation. McNemar test results determine the difference in the computer knowledge application of students before and after the conduct of the program. Paired samples T-test rules out the difference in the pretest and post-test scores of the subjects. The significant difference in the computer knowledge applications before and after became notable. Moreover, the pretest and posttest scores differed significantly at an alpha value of <.001. Thus, the aim of enhancing the computer literacy of grade 11 students was attained. Using BASICS is highly recommended across grade levels to develop further students’ computer literacy, which can leverage their academic performance. This research used a quasi-experimental research design, specifically the non-equivalent control group pretest-posttest design. Cluster random sampling was used to determine the respondents of the study. The respondents of the study were Grade 7 students at Sta. Catalina National High School during the school year 2019-2020. Two sections among the Grade 7 students taking mathematics under the researcher for the school year 2019-2020 were selected as respondents – one section was used as curriculum compacting (experiment) and the other one was used as a flexible grouping (experiment). Each section had 30 students each such that the study will have a total of 60 student-respondents. This research study was conducted for five weeks and utilized McKenzie’s Multiple Intelligence Survey instrument in assessing the student’s multiple intelligences. The researcher crafted a 40-item multiple choice test covering the topics of undefined terms in geometry, angles, polygons, and quadrilaterals to assess the level of critical thinking skills of student-respondents. Both independent and dependent t-tests were utilized to determine the significant difference between the pre-test and post-test results of the experimental and control groups. Based on the findings, before exposing students to differentiated instructions, their level of reasoning skill was an apprentice for both flexible grouping and curriculum compacting. However, their levels of problem-solving skills were apprentice and novice, for flexible grouping and curriculum compacting, respectively. After using differentiated instruction, the student’s level of critical thinking skills from both groups was at a proficient level. Findings also showed that the mean pretest and mean posttest scores of each group of respondents were significantly different for both measures of critical thinking skills. This suggested that the two forms of differentiated instruction that were employed in this study are effective in developing students’ critical thinking skills, especially in discussing basic concepts of Geometry. This experimental study found out that flexible grouping and curriculum compacting as forms of differentiated instruction can significantly improve the critical thinking skills of the students, then it is recommended that teachers may utilize flexible grouping and curriculum compacting as forms of differentiated instruction in Geometry. Learning English is very important nowadays, especially in this time of pandemic, if learners want to speak English fluently, the first step towards it is to have a rich and wide vocabulary. In today’s educational trend, we have learning modalities in which one of which is modular distance learning which requires teachers to prepare modules or enrichment materials for the students. Herewith, the study utilized an experimental and descriptive design. Fifty-five (55) Grade 10 students of Nagsinamo National High School who were enrolled during the School Year 2020-2021 were chosen to answer the 40-item pretest/ posttest multiple choice to determine the student’s level of vocabulary knowledge when it comes to connotation, denotation, word formation, and context clues. The developed material has undergone validation by the same number of respondents as to purpose, meaningfulness, responsiveness, usefulness, and presentation. The study used mean, standard deviation, frequency, percentages, and Pearson product-moment correlation as statistical treatments. The result showed that most of the respondents are at in intermediate level in their vocabulary knowledge. The performance of the respondents in the pre-test and post-test was found to have a significant difference. Furthermore, the respondents perceived the task-based enrichment material in terms of purpose, meaningfulness, responsiveness, usefulness, and presentation as very acceptable. It was also observed that there is a moderately significant relationship between the level of acceptability of the enrichment material and the level of comprehension and has a high correlation. Considering this, teachers are encouraged to use the task-based enrichment material integral to the subject area that needs enhancement to vocabulary knowledge. The school administrators may encourage their respective schools for the integration of task-based vocabulary enrichment material in presenting lessons or developing instructional materials. Moreover, further study is suggested using the developed instructional material through experimental methods and/ or a bigger population to verify the result of the study. Most students struggle with their comprehension when it comes to reading. Learners are lacking the necessary reading skills in dealing with their problems in reading comprehension. The study determined the Reading Comprehension and Academic Performance in English among Grade 7 Learners. This study employed a Quantitative non-experimental-descriptive correlational research design where the researcher developed and validated instruments utilized to gather data from 195 Grade 7 learners purposively sampled. The findings of the study revealed that the hypothesis that there is no significant relationship between reading comprehension and academic performance in English of the Grade 7 learners of Balibago Integrated High School – Extension was rejected. The hypothesis confirmed that there is no significant moderator of Grade 7 learners’ profile to the reading comprehension and academic performance in English is rejected specifically in learners’ profile in terms of sex. However, in terms of socio-economic status, the null hypothesis stating that there is no significant moderator of Grade 7 learners’ profile to the reading comprehension and academic performance in English is accepted. After being tabulated, the research showed that in Grade 7 learners, there was a substantial correlation and effect between students’ reading comprehension and academic performance in English Grade 7. It was discovered that the greater the learners’ reading comprehension, the better the students’ academic achievement. The teacher may focus on the student’s reading comprehension because it indicated impacts to the learners’ academic success. All sectors worldwide, including the workplace have been devastated by the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. The pandemic had a massive impact on the nature of work in the workplace. Schools all over the world have been forced into a rapid change of plan in terms of working habits, from face-to-face to working from home. This study explored employees’ work readiness among BPSU employees. Literature and studies were reviewed, and questionnaires related to employee readiness and respondents’ profile. Data from 207 university employees were used in the study. The self-made survey questionnaires were validated and reliable based on statistical tools used in this study. Dissemination and collection of data were collected through Google Forms. The study is a descriptive study to determine the employee’s readiness and its correlation with a personal profile. The results showed that respondents’ profile in terms of age, sex, and employment type has a significant relationship with employee readiness upon reopening the workplace. The literature cited herein develops a framework as to the necessary measures the school administration must do in the re-opening of the workplace. The paper aims to measure the level of employee readiness amidst the COVID-19 pandemic upon reopening the workplace. The result of this study can be a basis for a strategic plan for the “new normal” through the prism of pillars that are key to ensuring a smooth recovery, and the attendant opportunities and challenges. The implications of the continuing crisis on the working conditions of employees are discussed. Aside from the lens of employee readiness, this paper recommends other aspects of working conditions in the workplace as the basis for a strategic plan for the new normal. The transition in the educational system places pressure on all academic institutions and their stakeholders upon the strike of a pandemic. The issues of readiness of the students and faculty are a concern. An immediate shift from face-to-face classes to online learning was implemented. Students’ everyday experiences had been controlled. They were confined to the four corners of their house with their cellphone, iPad, or desktop. Different activities in school were missed by the students which cause stress and anxiety. This study aims to investigate the potential effects of online learning on the mental health condition (particularly stress and anxiety) of students and faculty in the university. One hundred thirty-eight (138) students and sixteen (16) faculties completed the Perceived Stress Scale (10 items), Generalized Anxiety Disorder 7 (GAD 7- 7 items), and Psychological Well-Being (18 items). In-depth interviews with students and select faculty were done for the qualitative part to understand their experience, challenges, difficulty, and benefits online. Students and faculty reported feeling stressed and anxious not only because of COVID-19 dangers but also due to social and physical limitations, lack of familiarity with new learning platforms, technical difficulties, poor connection, and life-work balance challenges. Self-care had been very essential to students and faculty for them to cope with new normal learning. Keywords: Mental health, Psychological well-being, Stress, Anxiety, Self-care, Mixed Method
