The decades-long surge of artistic interest in social practice finds a potential confluence in the recent rise of moral character as an object of psychological study, with both ideas filtering downstream into contemporary arts education philosophy and practices. Although much has been written about the social turn in the arts and the cultivation of character in education, few investigators have analyzed the relationship between them. This conceptual essay contributes to a possible convergence by examining the tensions and opportunities inherent in the integration of experimental art-making with the traditions of social science and moral theory. Its purpose is to take a personality-based approach to socially engaged art-making: to understand why some artists engage in social practice and the implications for arts education. This inquiry draws from a series of public interviews that examine the works and values, thoughts and feelings, practices and perspectives of contemporary artists working in higher education.

The Yangtze River Delta region is one of the economic centers in China and also a hub for innovation activities in the country. The knowledge spillover in the Yangtze River Delta region is not only significant for the region itself but also for the entire nation. At the same time, the high housing prices in the Yangtze River Delta region may have an impact on the knowledge spillover within the region. This study examines the influence of housing prices on knowledge spillover in the major cities of the Yangtze River Delta region based on data from 2001 to 2019. The findings reveal that high housing prices in cities generally have a significant negative effect on knowledge spillover. The magnitude of this effect varies across different measures of knowledge spillover.

In recent years, the topic of police reform has become commonplace, especially regarding the use of force. However, little is known about the process of reforming police policies and practices. Further, the current literature provides hardly any information on the challenges associated with police reform despite heightened interests more recently to address various shortcomings in law enforcement. The current analysis seeks to fill this gap by providing a first-hand account of efforts by police reform commission immediately following the death of George Floyd at the hands of police. As such, this manuscript details the process of establishing a commission to put forth recommendations, describes notable obstacles to accomplishing its mission, and highlights various perspectives and their influence on the entire process. Additionally, this manuscript offers insight regarding the successful implementation of recommendations resulting from such efforts towards police reform. Finally, this note offers suggestions for both future research and ways to enhance the success of similar committees based on these experiences. Calls for reform are all too common in the aftermath of police misconduct. Nonetheless, the means by which police reform occurs is less often publicized, perhaps resulting in numerous variations nationwide when such committees are called upon. The goals of this manuscript are to propose a model for police reform, highlight notable experiences observed while participating, and suggest caveats and shortcomings which might be useful to future attempts to organize similar committees. Finally, this essay provides insight into the success of efforts toward police reform and the obstacles associated with implementing recommendations after public interest subsides

In Georgian reality, the term “art”, can be found in a new, purely aesthetic sense, in terms of “artistic creation” – in the translation (1815) of Jean-Pierre Frédéric Ansillion’s (1767-1837) work “Aesthetic Judgments”, a French philosopher, member of the Prussian Academy, by David Bagrationi (1767-1819). As we know, the term “art” (Greek “techne”) has been historically interpreted in various ways. The term referred to practices established in the society, nature, individual creativity or crafts, as well as religious and mystical rituals. It shows a resemblance to the concepts such as “art – scientio – исскуство – art”. This term is especially noteworthy for the history of Georgian theoretical-literary and aesthetic thinking, however, a kind of substitute existed in our writing. It was “Facial expression”. As for the term “aesthetics” (the etymology of which is related to sensitivity, sensual perception of events), this term was introduced since 1750 by the German scientist Baumgarten in the meaning of the doctrine about “beauty” and the Georgian society got familiar with it with through the translation of Ansillion’s work “Aesthetic Judgments” translated by David Bagrationi. It should also be noted that this work was the first aesthetic work to be translated into Georgian. This fact, in turn, is of the utmost importance. According to Georgian translation of Ansillion’s work “Aesthetic Judgments” proves once again that development of Georgian philosophical-aesthetic thinking in the 18th and 19th century proceeds with a creative approach to the philosophical heritage of the past, on the one hand, and on the other hand, it has its equivalent in European philosophy.

It is commonly suggested that amicus curiae briefs (ACBs) are useful to influence judicial decisions. Interest groups often use ACBs to participate in litigation. Unfortunately, most assessments of judicial decision-making fail to review the latent content of ACBs. This is problematic because there is no way to be certain that interest groups truly influence case outcomes. Furthermore, it is possible that the type of litigation affects judicial outcomes as well. The current analysis employs a mixed methods approach to assess judicial decision-making. The current study is unique as it is perhaps the first to measure both influence and effectiveness separately in a qualitative manner. In doing so, the study makes comparisons between the latent content of judicial opinions and ACBs. The results support prior research findings regarding the influential nature of ACBs towards judicial decisions. Despite evidence of influence, interest groups’ advocacy only results in favorable case outcomes in a minority of cases. Suggestions for future research are also provided

Engaging in romantic relationships is common among university students. Romantic relationships encourage the students to develop their personal identity, provide opportunities for intimacy, and foster autonomy and independence. Contradicting the values mentioned is the distress the students undergo when breakup occurs, leading to ruminative behaviors and affecting sleep in general. However, breakup distress, rumination, and difficulties in sleep are diverse in accord with each individual inner-self psychological resilience. Therefore, we conducted this study with the aim of understanding the impact of resilience on distress, rumination, and sleep disturbances among post-breakup university students. A total of 164 samples were collected from different universities in Ho Chi Minh City through paper-based and online surveys (Google Forms). In addition, we conducted 5 individual interviews to obtain the most objective perspective. Research results indicate that: (a) resilience is negatively correlated with post-breakup distress in students, (b) resilience is negatively correlated with post-breakup rumination, and (c) resilience has a negative correlation with sleep disturbances after breaking up. Our findings highlight the importance of psychological resilience as a protective factor against the negative effects of romantic breakups. By enhancing their resilience, college students may better cope with the emotional distress and sleep disturbances that often follow the end of a romantic relationship.

The newspapers of late nineteenth-century are considered an important vector in Italian linguistic history due to their undoubted impact on the common language. What characterizes the journalistic prose of the time, valid to a certain extent even today, are the great heterogeneity of the expressive registers on the one hand and the linguistic homogeneity on the other. In this context, the journalistic language must undoubtedly be placed on the tracks of the literary language of tradition, that’s why our morphological analysis in this article is in full harmony with the developments of the contemporary literary language. The linguistic analysis of the examined journal, «The flag of Albania», will prove to be true. Our analysis will not be broad-based grammar, but will only touch the grammatical category of pronouns. We will examine the most salient forms of personal, indefinite, demonstrative, relative and interrogative pronouns accepted by the author in various contexts of use, explaining the reason for this choice and why one form is more frequent than the other.

This research aims to analyse “The Coming of Age” by Simone de Beauvoir, classify the word associations with the phenomenon of ageing and identify the changes in the perception of ageing by the population. The scientific methods used in this research are determined by the objectives and the research questions: methods of empirical research (survey, observation, semantic analysis, method of free-associative experiment). Text analysis was performed with the help of Voyant Tools (quantitative confirmation of patterns in the text, identifying key words and phrases within a large corpus). The semantic analysis of the text made it possible to distinguish three main connotations used by Simone de Beauvoir to describe old age: existential, romantic, pejorative and it was proved that “The Coming of Age” belongs to “sad” texts using V. Belyanin’s (2000) classification. The results of the associative experiment conducted with 340 participants showed that 45% of associations with the word ageing carry an existential connotation; 40% – pejorative; 10% – romantic and 5% of the associations have a connotation that cannot be included in the three main categories. The results of the text analysis showed that the content and the language of “The Coming of Age” by Simone de Beauvoir directly collate with the author’s personality. Moreover, modern society demonstrates similar stereotypes, phobias, and discrimination to those depicted in the literary work more than fifty years ago. The results open the gate to further research on gerontophobia and authors’ personality.
Belyanin(2000)的分类证明《The Coming of age》属于“悲伤”文本。

The paper will present the results of experimental research on the impact of drama activities on the development of pupils’ communication competence in primary education. The study was conducted on a sample of pupils in the fourth year of primary school (N=344) in the City of Zagreb, Croatia. An experimental model with equal parallel groups was applied. The procedure was carried out according to the following scheme: K-control group - traditional Croatian Language classes (lecturing and presenting) and E-experimental group – where drama activities were performed in Croatian Language classes. The pupils’ communication competence was measured by a written composition evaluated at three levels: content, language, and handwriting. The results of the analysis showed that there was a statistically significant difference in the communication competence of pupils between the control and experimental group at two of the three levels.
