Robot-assisted gait training in children with cerebral palsy: A case report 脑瘫儿童的机器人辅助步态训练:病例报告

Objective: The purpose of the case study was to investigate the immediate effect of Robot-assisted gait training in children with spastic bilateral cerebral palsy (CP). Method: This case study reports on the outcomes of a 8-week intervention of robotic-assisted gait training administered to 5 years and 6 years old children with spastic bilateral CP each. Results: Improvements were noted in gait velocity, cadence, and YJ's motor function improved by 51 % to 56 % in the areas of walking, running and hopping. SW's motor function improved from 74 % to 79 %, and walking, running, and hopping areas improved from 51 % to 53 %. Conclusion: Robotic-assisted gait training may be beneficial in enhancing locomotion in children with CP.

Effect of foot exercise program applied to patients with forward head posture on head and neck alignment 针对头部前倾患者的足部锻炼计划对头颈排列的影响

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the effect of a foot exercise program, designed to improve foot arch, on head and neck alignment in individuals with forward head posture. Method: The study involved randomly assigning 20 participants to an experimental group, which followed a foot exercise program, and 20 participants to a control group, which engaged in a neck exercise program. The study lasted for a total of 5 weeks, with both groups participating 5 days a week. The experimental group conducted 20 minutes of deep neck flexor strengthening exercises and 20 minutes of foot exercises, totaling 40 minutes per session. The control group performed deep neck flexor strengthening exercises for 20 minutes twice a day, also totaling 40 minutes. Results: The study revealed a significant reduction in the cranio-vertebral angle before and after the experiment in the experimental group (p<0.1). Similarly, the control group exhibited a significant decrease in the cranio-vertebral angle before and after the experiment (p<0.1). When comparing the change in the cranio-vertebral angle before and after the experiment between the experimental and control groups, the experimental group demonstrated a more substantial change (p<0.05). Conclusion: The group that implemented the foot exercise program with individuals suffering from forward head posture displayed a more significant decrease in the cranio-vertebral angle compared to the group that followed the neck exercise program. Consequently, this study suggests that applying a foot exercise program to individuals with forward head posture can contribute to the correction of their posture alignment.

The Relationship Between Participation in Leisure Activities and Emotional Regulation and Resilience in Occupational Therapy Students 职业治疗学生参与休闲活动与情绪调节和复原力之间的关系

Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the participation of occupational therapy students in leisure activities and to examine the relationship between leisure activities and emotional regulation and resilience. Method: The study's subjects were 104 occupational therapy university students. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS 29.0 program, and frequency analysis and descriptive statistics were performed on the general characteristics, types of leisure activities, emotional regulation, and resilience of the subjects, and Pearson correlation analysis was performed on the correlation between the factors. Results: The most frequent leisure activities of students were low-intensity exercise, participatory hobbies, and relaxation, and the least frequent leisure activities were high-intensity exercise, creative activities, and educational activities. Factor correlations showed that higher frequency of high-intensity exercise and social engagement in leisure activities was associated with higher emotional regulation, and higher frequency of IADL, low-intensity exercise, high-intensity exercise, and watching hobbies was associated with higher resilience. Conclusion: Based on the results of this study, it is suggested to develop a leisure program based on low- and high-intensity exercise, social participation, and hobby activities to improve emotional regulation and resilience in occupational therapy university students.

Effect of Driving Simulator Training on Patients' Driving Performance and Self-Efficacy with Paraplegia due to Spinal Cord Injury 模拟驾驶训练对脊髓损伤截瘫患者驾驶表现和自我效能的影响

Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of driving simulator training on the driving performance and self-efficacy of paraplegic patients with spinal cord injury. Method: Driving simulator training was provided to 12 participants with within subjects design, three sessions of basic driving, seven sessions of driving on the driving simulator. After training, performance time and operational performance scores, self-efficacy were analyzed. Results: This study found that the intervention by the driving simulator had statistically significant effects on driving time, performance error, ‘Sudden start’, ‘No neutral gear when stopping’, and ‘Speed violation’ and ‘Social self-efficacy’ of paraplegic spinal cord injury patients (p<.05). Conclusion: Driving simulator training can be a strategy to improve driving performance and social self-efficacy of paraplegic patients with spinal cord injury. Also, patients need sufficient sessions more than 10 times of driving simulator training.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to compare the effects of eccentric training (ET) of hamstring and static stretching (ST) exercise on the pain intensity (VAS), Oswestry disability Questionnaire (ODQ), flexibility, and range of motion (ROM) in lumbar region of patients with low back pain (LBP). Method: ET (n=9) and ST (n=9) groups were received intervention 3 times per week for 3 weeks. A VAS, ODQ, flexibility of hamstring, ROM in lumbar region were measured before and after interventions for each group. A paired t test was used to compare variables before and after intervention between groups, and the independent t test was used to compare variables before and after intervention between groups, and the significance level was p<.05. Results: Both the hamstring eccentric training group and static stretching group showed a statistically significant decrease in the VAS, ODQ (p<.05), and sit and reach test value in the static stretching group was statistically significant increased (p<.05). There were no significant difference in VAS, ODQ, Flexibility, ROM between the two groups before and after intervention. Conclusion: These results suggest that Eccentric training and static stretching intervention of hamstring are effective method to improve the VAS, ODQ of patients with LBP.

Effects of Earmuff Using on Signal-to-Noise Ratio of Distortion Product OtoAcoustic Emission in White Noise Environments 使用耳罩对白噪环境中失真产物声发射信噪比的影响

Objective: Earmuff has been shown to attenuate noise and may be useful in boothless audiometry. This study aimed to determine the effect of earmuff use on the signal-to-noise ratio of distortion production otoacoustic emission (DPOAE) in a white noise environment. Method: Participants were 19 young, healthy men and women (38 ears) aged 22.45±1.31 years. The hearing threshold level in 1, 2, 3, and 4 ㎑ did not exceed 15 ㏈ HL. DPOAE was performed at four points per octave in the range 842 to 9,509 ㎐ based on f2. After obtaining the baseline (Base), white noise was presented at 10 ㏈ intervals from 40 to 70 ㏈ SPL. DPOAE was obtained without (WN) and with earmuff (Earmuff). The maximum permissible ambient noise level (MPANL) of the WN and Earmuff were compared (paired t-test). Signal-to-noise ratio (one-way repeated measures ANOVA) and PASS rate (Chi-square test) between WN, Earmuff and Base at the overall frequency, mid-frequency (mid-3-freq), and high-frequency (hi-3-freq) bands were analyzed. Results: There was a difference of 22.19 ㏈ in MPANL between Base and WN (p=.000). There was a significant difference in the SNR between Base and WN from 40 ㏈ SPL, and in PASS rate between Base and Earmuff from 60 SPL (p<.005). Conclusion: In DPOAE, earmuff increase MPANL, which enables recording at up to 60 ㏈ SPL. The SNR in the high-frequency band is more preserved than in the lower, Therefore, it seems advantageous for early detection of cochlear microstructural changes due to noise or aging.

DPOAE was performed at four points per octave in the range 842 to 9,509 ㎐ based on f2. After obtaining the baseline (Base), white noise was presented at 10 ㏈ intervals from 40 to 70 ㏈ SPL. DPOAE was obtained without (WN) and with earmuff (Earmuff). The maximum permissible ambient noise level (MPANL) of the WN and Earmuff were compared (paired t-test). Signal-to-noise ratio (one-way repeated measures ANOVA) and PASS rate (Chi-square test) between WN, Earmuff and Base at the overall frequency, mid-frequency (mid-3-freq), and high-frequency (hi-3-freq) bands were analyzed. Results: There was a difference of 22.19 ㏈ in MPANL between Base and WN (p=.000). There was a significant difference in the SNR between Base and WN from 40 ㏈ SPL, and in PASS rate between Base and Earmuff from 60 SPL (p<.005). Conclusion: In DPOAE, earmuff increase MPANL, which enables recording at up to 60 ㏈ SPL. Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of hip mobility exercise(HME) and lumbar stabilization exercise (LSE) on pain, disability index, and trunk strength(TS) in chronic low back pain patients (CLBP). Method: Thirty patients with CLBP were randomized into two groups of 15 members each. One group performed LSE and the other group performed HME, each for 30 minutes three times a week for four weeks. Pain was measured with the Visual Analog Scale (VAS), disability with the Oswestry Disability Index (ODI), Trunk Strength (TS) with Back-check 608, before the experiment and at four weeks. Results: There were significant differences between groups before and 4 weeks after intervention in VAS, ODI, and TS (p<0.05). In the comparison between the two groups, only the VAS decreased more in the HME group than in the LSE group, and there was no difference in other variables (p<0.05). Conclusion: These results suggest that both HME and LSE help CLBP with pain, disability index, and trunk strength.

Objective: The objective of this study is to analyze research trends in occupational therapy and propose future research directions. Additionally, the study aims to recommend a strategy for establishing foundational data, which can enhance the expertise of occupational therapy professionals and contribute to the formulation of relevant policies.ublished in the Korean Society of Medicine & Therapy Science from 2009 to 2022, an analysis was conducted on the type of research, evidence level, field of research. Method: For the 223 articles pinformation regarding the first author, and the type of study participation. Results: Following the analysis, it was observed that experimental research constituted the highest proportion at 78.3 %, with level 2 evidence being predominant at 32.6 %. Notably, in the last three years, there was an increase in studies classified at levels 3 and 4. In terms of research fields, neurological occupational therapy held the majority at 60.9 %, while the primary position of the first author was occupied by occupational therapists, accounting for 80.4 %. Regarding participant demographics, studies targeting adults comprised the largest share at 81.3 %, and the most frequently studied diagnosis was stroke. Conclusion: The findings presented herein aim to provide readers with insights into the evolving landscape of occupational therapy research, contributing valuable information to enhance understanding and augment the available body of evidence in the field.

Objective: Among various approaches to tissue healing after surgery, the degree of impact on pain reduction and changes in joint function was confirmed through the application of manual therapy, cryotherapy, and extracorporeal shock wave therapy to increase the level of physical activity performed in the early healing stage. Method: A person who received manual therapy, cooling therapy, and extracorporeal shock wave therapy after surgery on major spinal joints, and received intervention from immediately after surgery until discharge. Manual therapy, Cryo treatment, Extracorporeal shock wave therapy. Results: Through a case report, results were obtained that showed effectiveness in improving the range of motion of peripheral joints and reducing pain after surgery. Conclusion: It is believed that manual therapy, cryotherapy, and extracorporeal shock wave therapy, which are part of non-invasive treatment during the recovery process after spine and major joint surgery, will stabilize the initial healing stage and make physical activity levels more smooth in the future.

Objective: The purpose was to measure changes in neck pain, NDI, and deep neck muscle thickness during neck stabilization exercises in a sitting position, and to confirm the effects of postural changes. Method: Participants were divided into a lying posture exercise group (10 participants) and a sitting posture exercise group (10 participants) to perform neck stabilization exercises. Both groups will receive treatment for 20 minutes three times a week for four weeks, and participants will complete a pretest and reassess previously assessed items after a total of four weeks of intervention. Results: Within both groups, the change in deep neck muscle thickness increased significantly in the before-after comparison, but there was no significant difference in the between-group comparison. Within both groups, neck pain was significantly reduced when comparing before and after, but there was no significant difference when comparing between both groups. Within both groups, the NDI was significantly reduced when comparing before and after, and there was also a significant difference when comparing between both groups. Conclusion: Neck stabilization exercises in a sitting position are an effective movement mediation method.
