Operating an induction machine on an asymmetrical voltage system leads to an asymmetrical system of quantities (voltages, currents, fluxes). The rotating magnetic field is no longer circular but elliptical. The dissymmetry factor of the main flux depends on the dissymmetry factor of the supply voltage and also on the operating conditions. In practical applications there is a strong influence of both operating condition and rotor speed on the asymmetric regime of the main flux. The object of this paper is to study to what extent the asymmetry of the main flux depends on the operating conditions. This matter is studied by theoretical evaluation, confirmed and completed by simulation results.

Patch antennas are highly used in the last few years in domains like spaceships, satellites and missiles, cellular phones, radars, GSM, wide area computer networks and also wireless local areas. This is the result of their advantages, namely the small dimensions and weight, their low cost, ease of use, ease of integration in other circuits and capability to operate at 2 or 3 frequency values. Their disadvantages, among which low efficiency, high quality factor and a narrow bandwidth must be improved. In order to do so, we must previously study the influence of different parameters on their functioning. In this paper, three different feeding types will be implemented on patch antennas and the resulting parameters will be compared and analyzed. Also, different operating frequencies will be taken into account in order to determine the dimensions of such an antenna. Considering the Rogers RT Duroid 5880 dielectric and its standard thicknesses patch antennas will also be modeled and parameters like S parameters, the bandwidth, directivity, gain will be analyzed.

Current translation of electrical power systems towards smart grids is encompassing a fundamental change in their structure, as well as operation. These coordinates are setting the paths to be followed by the hardware and software embedded in electrical power systems, as well as technology adaptation to the “open-source” customers’ needs and consumption patterns. This paper is following the evolution of energy sector, accompanied by constant improvements of technology, which is providing increasingly complex hardware, which embeds power quality improvement devices, for an efficient operation of electrical power assets. A comprehensive survey of continuous advances of renewable energy sources and storage technology will be presented, which have started the transformation of end-users into energy efficient and clean prosumers, underlining the subsequent energy markets support of peer-to-peer energy trading through novel technologies as blockchain.

The paper presents the concepts, the way of implementation and testing of an application with significant technical and financial impact represented by the realization of tele-protection or inter-tripping distance protection schemes without using of specific additional installations. The implementation of these schemes is done by transmitting GOOSE (Generic Object-Oriented Substation Event) messages between the electrical substations belonging to the same electrical distribution or transport company.

To begin with, there are listed three reasons why the topic of control and reduction of electric field issued by High Voltage Overhead Power Lines (HVOhPL) must be given greater attention: the currents induced by the external electric field are vertical and pass through the most sensitive human cells and organs, the usual ambient levels are sometimes very close to the generally accepted reference values and there is also the advantage of checking the simulations with real field measurements that are not influenced by the constant change value of the phase currents. Then a synthesis of the electrical and geometrical characteristics of the high voltage transmission and distribution networks (used pylons and wires coordinates) is presented, an essential starting point for making simulations as close as possible to reality. The simulations have been performed with two accessible, easy-to-use programs, in which the phasing influence on E-field strength has been approached, while assuming the most common types of three-phase double circuits. The recommendations on optimum phasing differ depending on the relative distribution of the three phases: vertical line, horizontal line or isosceles triangle. Conclusions are also presented regarding the influence of soil conductivity on resulting E-field strength and on its descending slew-rate.

The paper presents a virtual test bench for the evaluation of a complete electric vehicle in Real-time based on the new configuration-based software environment NI VeriStand, using the scale vehicle dynamic testing. LMS Amesim software is used for testing and verification of a virtual electric vehicle model on a route where a New European driving cycle (NEDC) must be achieved. The model is uploaded into the real-time processor of the NI PXIe-8135 but first has to be converted into a DLL file (Dynamic-link library). Two FPGA’s will be used in order to model the machine, a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machine (PMSM) and the control of the machine with Field Oriented Control. The connection between the FPGA’s and the PXI is done by digital and analog I/Os, using the connection boxes. The equipment’s and the software used to programmed them are from National Instruments. The link between the Amesim model and the LabView FPGA, that is used to programmed the FPGA’s, was made in NI Veristand.
