As digital media changes and evolves with technology, it has become an indispensable part of human life, offering various opportunities in terms of design and illustration. It is up to the illustrator’s creative imagination to use these opportunities to the best of their ability because while opportunities may change, the only constant is creativity. With the use of more and more digital software and tools, visual arts are now appearing in digital media. In this context, the research aimed to consider texture as a design element in digital illustration rather than just using painting tools in the software. The contribution of texture to design as a visual texture through the cut-out technique was examined.

Extant research evidence shows that interpersonal bonds—the bond to the immediate supervisor and work team—have an incremental predictive effect in western settings, neglecting emerging economic and cultural environments. This study, thus, examines the impact of cultural profiles on interpersonal bonds and related performance in an emerging market context. Specifically, the study examines the emergence of profiles based on micro-level psychological collectivism (individualism) and power distance orientations. The study further examines the effect of the emerged profiles on interpersonal bonds and the performance of activities related to the targets of the bonds. A survey questionnaire was used to collect data from 148 multiple public and private organizations of varied industries (banking, manufacturing, education, and local government) in an emerging market. Using the MANOVA analytic procedure, the study finds that the supervisor-oriented and team-involved profile rather than the team-alienated profile demonstrates a significantly higher level of work outcomes involving interpersonal commitment to the supervisor and substantially higher task performance. The outcome suggests that power distance cultural value may have a negative psychological effect while collectivism has a positive psychological effect on work outcomes in this context. The implication of the outcome for theory and policy in the collectivist context is discussed.

Few nations develop and sustain industries for quality and productive gross domestic product (GDP). Understandably, nations differ in their political, economic, natural resources, and technological strengths. Extracting natural resources and exporting them to industrially developed nations and corporations will not contribute to creating new wealth domestically, especially for nations at the bottom of the global industrial pyramid. Additionally, paying attention to the GDP breakdown of industries, and identifying value-adding industries for the future sustainable growth of a nation, is relevant. Instead of the status quo, following GDP growth for its own sake, the contrarian approach is to make strategic choices and incentivize domestic industries in new ways for development, growth, and global engagement.

This mixed-method study surveyed and interviewed 60 High Income Country (HIC) US citizens/immigrants and Low-to-Middle-Income-Country (LMIC) citizens of African heritage on their perceptions of mental health services in African communities for implementation and research planning. In this study, ethics was a core emergent theme for global health initiatives and challenges, including political will for ethical change, community gatekeepers, level of government involvement, community-wide participation, public-private sector collaboration, health literacy and education, transparency, continuous monitoring, and consequences for ethical infractions. Based on our findings, we propose an active teaching and learning methodology of problem-based (PBL) and team-based learning (TBL) with multi-level HIC-LMIC citizen engagement for ethics in global health program productivity and sustainability. The intended result is to produce ethically trained and equipped health professionals, enhanced HIC and LMIC capacity building, cultural humility, and decolonization of health programs and policies.

With present issues pertaining to discrimination and underrepresentation, the growing demand towards equality and equity in society as reflected in legislative bills being filed, street demonstrations, and organized programs, and the number of studies that confirms higher productiveness of diverse workplaces, employers are expected to evaluate prospective employees' socio-demographic profiles aside from knowledge, skills, and personality. This has led to this study that aims to develop a conclusion if the workplace in the tourism industry, resort establishments in Calamba City, Laguna, embraces diversity, as well as to know the challenges that employees experience in working with colleagues who have different demographic profiles, if any. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with employees working in the front of the house of two selected resorts, while data were analyzed using a quantitative and qualitative research design, whereas frequency and percentage were computed, and thematic analysis was performed. Results showed that firms still have their recruitment preferences or biases; one firm prefers hiring older staff while the other prefers younger ones. The LGBT community, on the other hand, has been found to be underrepresented. Moreover, the assessed establishments also favor people with less experience and less formal education, particularly for entry-level positions. Data presented also showed challenges faced by employees working with their colleagues, particularly with the opposite gender, those with lower and higher educational attainment, with different religion, and those younger and older. Findings provide low organizational diversity, therefore, serve as an indication of the need for programs that would promote inclusiveness in society. This study explored a problem in the field of social science that seems to have been ignored or least prioritized in the Philippines over the years. This study is a few of the available literature that provides a picture of poor diversity in society, particularly in workplaces that leads to operational dilemmas.

There are many mathematical concepts found in music. Music is integrated into Indian culture. It is a common practice among children in India to engage in music lessons from a young age. The purpose of this study was to investigate the impact of Indian music on the cognitive development of children to understand or reinforce mathematics. Data was collected from three schools in Kolkata, India, through interviews, observations, and survey questionnaires. Six different music classes from three music schools were observed at different times. Observations were documented through pictures, video recordings, running records, and anecdotal records. To supplement these documentations, a field journal was kept at all times. The study was qualitative in nature, and all data were analyzed thematically. The findings suggested the importance of Indian music in children’s cognitive development and how Indian music helped in learning mathematics. Both teachers and parents felt that music builds concentration among children and also helps children with disabilities.
